  • How do we know that we're closely related to apes? Which species is our closest relative? How does this affect our understanding of our evolution?

    I only found your channel today and I must say that I always experience a flash of disappointment when you stop talking and the video ends. Great content. Great presentation and a wonderful voice to listen to. Good job!

    how is the production quality of these videos so high and you only have two videos and (now) 62 subscribers, This channel /will/ go places if the quality stays this high, and the content keeps coming.

      Thank you so much! I’ve worked in video/editing for a few years now and with help from a good friend to make some original art, it’s honestly turned out better than I thought it would. Still lots of room to improve however.

    This is a wonderful synopsis of both of evolutionary history and relationships to apes.

    Very interesting. You have a very compelling and easy to understand delivery. Both videos I’ve have been extremely well researched and present a variety of viewpoints. Thanks 🙏

    I think about being an ape pretty much constantly.

      Also keep up the great content. Not too long, not too short, high production value, skilled writing.

    Very well done… are you thinking to give us a similar in-deep conversation also about the root of our intellect and will?

    • @TheHEAP
      @TheHEAP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! I’m certainly interested in that topic too. Might do an episode on the evolution of the brain in the next few months. Consciousness and free will are difficult subjects and scientific evidence to base arguments on doesn’t come easy. Highly recommend Robert Sapolsky’s views on these topics in the interim. His course on human behavioural biology is on youtube and it’s fantastic.

    It's not our similarities that make us the same, but our differences that make us different.

      Possibly the difference in number of chromosomes is extremely significant. Needs further exploration.

    Great video of the complexities of evolution. It would be good if you also included the bonobo apes. How are they related to chimpanzee and humans.

    • @TheHEAP
      @TheHEAP  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was originally going to, but I figured it might just be too much info all at once. Bonobos are fairly recent off-shoots of the chimpanzee branch. Probably not too shy of a million years ago.

    The problem I see with the Red Ape hypothesis is that Orangs live in Asia, and chimps gorillas, and all human ancestors found all live[d] in Africa.
