  • In 1935, Texas was preparing for its biggest celebration to date: a world’s fair to commemorate the centennial of its independence. Centennial officials hired a young photographer, Polly Smith, to travel the length and width of the state. Her mission was to capture the people and places that made Texas unique. 27 of Smith's photos were selected to become a permanent part of the Hall of State by being turned into glass orotones. This video showcases the restoration of these pieces after the Hall of State building was struck by a freeze and flood in the early months of 2021. This video was produced by Mark Birnbaum Productions.
