@@mksmith8288 would you say you notice you have one? considering they're nocturnal, do you see them? can you handle them? I'm trying to decide between leopard and cave
@@lieveheersbeestje099 I do have a cave gecko you don't see them too much. I recommend getting a motion activated camera if you want to see them just out and about. I can handle mine and he doesn't seem too upset by it, typically if I have him out for long he rests on my shoulder. Leopard geckos are definitely more friendly than cave geckos.
As someone with a Chinese Cave Gecko, I’m glad to see the love they’re getting! They’re a little less handleable than a Leopard gecko or AFT, but they do start to tolerate handling after a little while. They’re also quite picky eaters, as evident by mine who refuses to eat anything but crickets. Just a suggestion to bump up the quality of your videos (which is already great): Seeing as the majority of the world uses normal units of measurements (Celcius for temp, metric for scale of cages, etc.,) maybe you could put up these measurements on the screen, even if you only talk in freedom units. Seeing as your videos are already pretty edited, I don't think it would be too much of an effort, and people around the world would know what you're talking about without having to translate all the units you mention :)
The best type of reptile GECKO! For me at least the worst thing for me I really small and the ones that really catch my eyes are even smaller than that and I'm a bigger guy so I always worry I'm going to hurt them
We have 2 male Chinese Cave Geckos in separate enclosures. A forewarning to anyone looking to get these. You can go weeks without seeing them. They do NOT come out during the day at all. You have to wait until the room is completely dark and use a red light to go see them. They don't hide as much with the red light as they do with a white or blue light. We know they are ok when we see that they've eaten their food. Or you can set up a camera to see them at night. That's what we did the first couple of months.

I agree day geckos are amazing, and yeah, good luck catching them if they escape, mine has escaped a few times but luckily he's developed a liking to me and knows who I am, it wasn't always like that though, when I had him as a baby he would just run away from me, but now that he's nearing 10 years old, he's developed a fondness of me and has a personality towards me as well vs other people, I wouldn't trade him for anything, he's been amazing.
I miss my gecko, I sold it to a store since I was moving. I loved him, and would often let him go roaming over the home. Feed him crickets, I loved watching him more than tv. Funny to, I do have geico insurance, but not because of that.
Love AFT’s and Leopards, one thing I would note though is that AFT’s are often MUCH pickier than leopards. A lot of them will only eat crickets so it’s important to try to get them eating a variety of foods when they’re very small babies.

I'd like to see you holding a Leopard Gecko in one hand and a good size adult Southwestern Banded Gecko in the other, if you can😏, talking about the differences and similarities. I say good size adult bandy because their bands break up into spots as they grow so the older ones look more leopard like and they move more like a cat. Plus the bigger they are the calmer. You could show the hatchlings too. It would also be cool to see a young adult bandy because it'd be more likely to freak out and squeak. Or not. Just some ideas.
I think the knob-tailed gecko is one of my favorites for geckos. I didn't realize they were an Australian species, no wonder I don't see them often. They each have their own charm though. I think the cave gecko sounds great for more northern folks! Or I could keep it in the bedroom... the reptile room is quite warm, but the husband likes to keep the bedroom arctic. But if we ever lost power the poor thing would roast in Florida.
I picked up my first leopard gecko in December he’s a year old will be 2 in august and a blazing blizzard morph. Then about 2 weeks ago I went and picked up an African Fat Tail gecko, he’s a male as well and has a stripe morph he will be turning 1 in April. I really love these geckos and they are great for beginners
I have a leopard gecko (his name is kiwi and I would die for him) and he is the easiest thing to take care of ever. I handle him almost every day and he’s already used to my hand being in the tank and touching him, he likes his back to be pet, always eats his food no issues, loves to climb all along the top of his cave and on his cholla wood. He’s a beautiful lime green on his back and blue on his tail and over his eyes. He’s the sweetest thing in the world and I love him
Loved this video! I really love geckos and I would have loved to have seen coleonyx elegans and aeluroscalabotes felinus as well. I find them both really interesting, but they dont seem to be widely known. You're amazing, love your videos xx
Wrong info on Gonuirosaurus - they utilise height when offered it and you should definitely look into a 45cm cube as a minimum, you'll often find them upside down on the internal roof of any rock cave you give them and they are great climbers despite not having toe pads. If you put them in a larger enclosure and watch them at night you can see how active they are. If you want a similar gecko that doesn't need the height then a Coleonyx Elegans has very similar requirements, just add a litte more heat. They do climb but only to grab prey, C. Mitratus is also suitable
Important correction: Cresties (like all the other geckos) do need UVB!!!. They are one of the most common species comming to vets with MBD, even if the owner was suplementing calcium in a diet. Is unsure why some are more or less living without it and others not, but is for sure beneficial for all of them.
My day gecko got out the other day. We were searching everywhere high, like behind the tv, behind enclosures, etc.... Then I look down and this lizard was just chillin on the floor watching us search. Like, silly girl, you're a wall gecko not a floor gecko 😂 we were luckily able to catch her without issue. I was so scared 😂 she gives me more anxiety than my rattlesnakes 😅😅
7 reasons why Pictus Geckos are the best geckos, IMO: 1. They are SUCH pretty lizards, no matter which morph you get! 2. They are smaller than a Leo, but not as small as a mourning gecko, so you could comfortably house one in a 10 gal long for it's life (unless you want to spoil it), or 2 females in a 20! 3. They have an average lifespan of 10+ years instead of 15+ years, like a Leo, so if you don't know where you'll be in 15 years, this could be a little bit easier to commit to when getting your first gecko! 4. They're naturally a bit shy, but if you work with them they can be just as social as other types of geckos! Plus they're really docile, even at the beginning 5. They're starting to become really popular, so you could be on the front end of a new gecko trend if you own one! 6. They're great eaters - mine ate all of the mealworms that I put in the tank just in case on the first night! Has been eating mealworms and crickets like crazy ever since! 7. I just wanted to have a seventh haha, but I love my little buddy! He's the best 😁
I ended up falling in love with leopard geckos as a teen (doing my workplace experience orientation in a reptile place), but I was a bit too busy with very big mammals you can sit on back then. Is the fact that leopard geckos are possibly the cutest reptiles on the planet a valid reason to be wanting one now? 😂

Im just happy to know that my leopard gecko isn't the only one with a resting rbf.. she looks mad all the time
I picked up my first leopard gecko in December he’s a year old will be 2 in august and a blazing blizzard morph. Then about 2 weeks ago I went and picked up an African Fat Tail gecko, he’s a male as well and has a stripe morph he will be turning 1 in April. I really love these geckos and they are great for beginners
WICKED
I have a leopard gecko (his name is kiwi and I would die for him) and he is the easiest thing to take care of ever. I handle him almost every day and he’s already used to my hand being in the tank and touching him, he likes his back to be pet, always eats his food no issues, loves to climb all along the top of his cave and on his cholla wood. He’s a beautiful lime green on his back and blue on his tail and over his eyes. He’s the sweetest thing in the world and I love him
UPDATE: I just checked what his morph is in case people were wondering and he is a Murphy Patternless
I swear I come for the intro vids and pics. So awesome. And your cohorts! Lol
Loved this video! I really love geckos and I would have loved to have seen coleonyx elegans and aeluroscalabotes felinus as well. I find them both really interesting, but they dont seem to be widely known. You're amazing, love your videos xx
thank you so much!
The knob tailed gecko is so fucking derpy and I love it.
Gotta love geckos
they really are amazing
It sucks being from a small country, they don't sell geckos where I live :(
Important correction: Cresties (like all the other geckos) do need UVB!!!. They are one of the most common species comming to vets with MBD, even if the owner was suplementing calcium in a diet. Is unsure why some are more or less living without it and others not, but is for sure beneficial for all of them.
OOO YES ive wanted a madagascar day gecko for sooo long but thought they were too difficult for me! Could you do a care video of them??
I have a suggestion, the 5 best fish eating reptiles. I would love to see what fish eaters are out there.
Well, since gekkotans are that specious, a geckos part 2 are warranted. Maybe with legless lizards, cat-tailed geckos, leaf-tailed geckos, etc.?
Just used your code for my first order of black soldier fly larva! Hoping my leopard gecko Lilly gobbles them up
My day gecko got out the other day. We were searching everywhere high, like behind the tv, behind enclosures, etc.... Then I look down and this lizard was just chillin on the floor watching us search. Like, silly girl, you're a wall gecko not a floor gecko 😂 we were luckily able to catch her without issue. I was so scared 😂 she gives me more anxiety than my rattlesnakes 😅😅
hahahah adorable
The Knob tail is like the pug of the gecko world.
hahahaha
My favorite is leopard geckos because they can be trained
Love my little Pictus Gecko! Would definitely recommend 😁
7 reasons why Pictus Geckos are the best geckos, IMO:
Plus they're really docile, even at the beginning
i love reptiles!
The Chinese house gecko seems pretty cool. Could probably be kept at room temperature or cooler thats really neat!
