Thank you Claire for the story. I know about Silken Thomas, being from Ireland. That was a cruel death for Patrick Hamilton. The Friar was truly wicked.
I always think that you're posting a day early, but it's just because of the massive time difference between where I am and where you are LOL. You won't hear me complain about getting to see your videos early though!
Amazingly, the genealogy of these families is so important to understand how all these people are intertwined. But really, roasted? not burned? YUCK! Thank you for your great research and sharing it with us.
Thank you so much for your hard work that gives us these videos!! I can’t explain why the Tudors have always been my favorite . Henry, Ann, Mary ,and Edward. It’s sad that Ann died and never knew how her only child was the best Queen England ever had!!!
Can I just say how much I love that you gleefully and generously announce a surprise extra for the poor souls that don’t have a birthday this year, and it being the story of the horrific burning of an innocent man described in gruelling detail by an eyewitness. Only Tudor-ites...
The Anne Boleyn Files and Tudor Society I really appreciate your videos Claire, and I love how we can all be a little Tudor obsessed on here with you! I just love how everyone here just wants to hear about all the stories with so much interest, even the tragic ones. I’m a huge fan.
I always learn something new when watching and listening to your great videos! 11th Earl of Kildare - I hadn't heard of him before. So very interesting. And then the burning of Hamilton. Terrible. Didn't know of that either! Shudder!
Such cute little costars you have! It was a little creepy that as you say the words "dark arts", a phantom kitty appears & disappears! 😱 What a horrible way to go, to be roasted to death!😥 Love the stories, thank you! 💜🌹👸👑🏰🎪🎭
One of my ancestor's sister was taken out as as witch, but it was very political. Poor Janet Douglas. Her mother lost her sisters under interesting circumstances as well. One of them had been having an affair with a king and she and two of her sisters either ate tainted food or were poisoned. Loved the kitty cameos 😸
Hi Clare, I wonder if you have considered his relationship with Elizabeth’s mother, Jacquetta of Luxembourg who was considered by some to use witchcraft is said to have descended from Melusine.
I thought oh look we have someone who survived all these reigns & died in bed at an old age for Tudor times.!!! I also learned the meaning of Fritz! Good day in history...but then we have the 29th...not so good...
Hi Claire! I adore your videos, I'm a complete Tudor nut. I was wondering if you'd seen the Tudors BBC TV series that came out a few years ago? And if you have, what are your thoughts?
Very interested in the Fitzgeralds Butlers and Fitz-Patricks. All these cousins went to England to be educated with Edward VI. They formed a mini court while children. Would you consider doing a report about Barnaby Fitz-Patrick and Edward?
Births! Marriages! Burnings! Executions!! Claire Ridgeway!! LOL I love these videos Claire. I try to keep up but sometimes I'm a few months late cause I missed a ew. Thanks. You bring the Tudor history home. And your pets are cute!. I had to stop watching with the roasting description though, sorry.
What happened?!?! An horrific death that lasted 6 hours, and no bells ringing while Claire tells us about this execution?! you should have started filming 1 minute earlier :) lol
It's interesting that some Marlovians (spelling?) credit Christopher Marlow with works by Shakespeare, when the majority of Shakespeare's plays and poems were written after Marlowe's death. Even if they were plagiarized posthumously - he was only twenty nine when he died. To have been able to produce all the works that we know he wrote, as well as the works of Shakespeare he supposedly penned would have left him little time for carousing, or especially, spying for Francis Walsingham! Always look forward to your "visit" each morning.
The first thing St Andrews’ students learn is not to step on the PH set in stone outside the entrance to St Salvator’s Quadrangle. Doing is believed to cause students to fail exams or even an entire degree.
Wow someone who didn't lose his head and died in his bed and the other poor soul 6hrs to die if he was a Catholic he'd would have been made Saint . And a lovely look at one of your cats big too is it a tom xx
You can't be a Protestant Christian AND "dabble in the dark arts" The Bible even says "You can't serve two masters", you either hate the one and love the other, a house divided can't stand" when Our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ said this He reminds us that WE believers have the Holy Spirit making our bodies the Temple of the Holy Spirit hence how a house divided can't stand, and also meaning an actual household......Anyway sorry I went off subject I suppose lol God Bless You All!!!!
The Wizard Earl was Catholic . Its only a Legend he dabbled in the Dark Arts. As an Irishwoman we were brought up on these Legends. In the version of the Legend we were taught in School The Wizard Earl and his Knights will be freed for the Spell when Ireland is totally freed from British Rule.
I wish there was a LOVE button...because I just LOVE learning about Tudor History! Thanks, Claire!
Thank you Claire for the story. I know about Silken Thomas, being from Ireland. That was a cruel death for Patrick Hamilton. The Friar was truly wicked.

Thankyou Clair for another fascinating chapter of Tudor history. And the cameo cats are lovely . X
Always love they bells going off at the right time!!!!!!!
Terri T me toooo! They are always well timed xD
Amazingly, the genealogy of these families is so important to understand how all these people are intertwined. But really, roasted? not burned? YUCK! Thank you for your great research and sharing it with us.
What a day and kitty was curious too! Thank you, Claire. :-)
As always, loved the video. I also loved your cat's cameo. I know it's not Tudor history related but I'd love a "Meet the Author" video.
Talking of burning, read about Anne Askew in Phillipa Gregory's The Taming of the Queen, truly shocking. Thanks for all your work, loving this series
Yes, Anne Askew was horribly tortured too before her burning.
Thank you so much for your hard work that gives us these videos!! I can’t explain why the Tudors have always been my favorite . Henry, Ann, Mary ,and Edward. It’s sad that Ann died and never knew how her only child was the best Queen England ever had!!!
Cute cat who photo bombed!
Can I just say how much I love that you gleefully and generously announce a surprise extra for the poor souls that don’t have a birthday this year, and it being the story of the horrific burning of an innocent man described in gruelling detail by an eyewitness. Only Tudor-ites...
Ha! Yes, sorry! Some days it is rather hard to find one that isn't blood thirsty.
The Anne Boleyn Files and Tudor Society I really appreciate your videos Claire, and I love how we can all be a little Tudor obsessed on here with you! I just love how everyone here just wants to hear about all the stories with so much interest, even the tragic ones. I’m a huge fan.
I thank you! I truly look foreword to these everyday now. I love the stories and your beautiful presentation.
I love seeing your cat cameos in your videos! Thank you for the interesting facts! Fascinating as always!
I always learn something new when watching and listening to your great videos! 11th Earl of Kildare - I hadn't heard of him before. So very interesting. And then the burning of Hamilton. Terrible. Didn't know of that either! Shudder!
What a brave man. Who was the special guest at the end? where is Maj? This is so nice to come home to. We reached 25cm of snow today. UGH
That was Ari (Ariadne). I'm not sure where Maj had go to, or Ari's brother, Oreo. Wow, that's a lot of snow!
Many thanks for the video...and I love the kitty cat cameo!
I very much enjoy your videos. Thank you for the wonderful content.
Thank you so much for this. I could listening to you all day. Cute cats!
Just love these videos Claire.
Am a mad Tudor and AB addict.
Hi from Australia. 💙
Such cute little costars you have! It was a little creepy that as you say the words "dark arts", a phantom kitty appears & disappears! 😱 What a horrible way to go, to be roasted to death!😥 Love the stories, thank you! 💜🌹👸👑🏰🎪🎭
Hi Claire ,Your videos are awesome !!!
Oh Thank you. And I loved the timing of the bell.
I saw the ghost cat fly past at 13:27. The Wizard Earl returned on video?
Perhaps so! I think that was Oreo flashing past.
Thank you for the video. Love the cat making an appearance.
This was a great legend story!! Thank you!
Hi Clare, I wonder if you have considered his relationship with Elizabeth’s mother, Jacquetta of Luxembourg who was considered by some to use witchcraft is said to have descended from Melusine.
Great story! 😍
I thought oh look we have someone who survived all these reigns & died in bed at an old age for Tudor times.!!! I also learned the meaning of Fritz! Good day in history...but then we have the 29th...not so good...
It is Fitz not Fritz...
Tudor Cat is gorgeous! May we have an introduction please?
Tudor Tuxedo Cat? ;-D
Seems more like a cravat (or an ascot) than a tuxedo bowtie. Imho
That's Ari (Ariadne).
A pleasure to meet you Ari.
Pleasure to meet you Ariadne! Goddess of the labyrinth: how appropriate for a cat!
Hi Claire! I adore your videos, I'm a complete Tudor nut. I was wondering if you'd seen the Tudors BBC TV series that came out a few years ago? And if you have, what are your thoughts?
The Showtime one? It was horribly inaccurate times but I did enjoy it.
@@anneboleynfiles Yes that one. I agree it was fairly inaccurate, but I thought it was visually wonderful.
Very interested in the Fitzgeralds Butlers and Fitz-Patricks. All these cousins went to England to be educated with Edward VI. They formed a mini court while children. Would you consider doing a report about Barnaby Fitz-Patrick and Edward?

Am I the only one who finds it freakishly comforting to know that humans are just as ridiculous and petty now as we were 600 years ago??lol
What happened?!?! An horrific death that lasted 6 hours, and no bells ringing while Claire tells us about this execution?! you should have started filming 1 minute earlier :) lol
Ha! Yes!
Alchemy! We’re getting all sorts of interesting goodies!
And gran finale ! The cat ! 🐈💜💜
Whoever was the one person who disliked Im coming for you
What dreadful times they lived in! Fascinating for us now though!
I just found out that I am a descendant of the Gerald Fitzgerald! so interesting!
A newcomer as wizard. My ancestor, Michael Scott, who died in 1232 was supposed to be a wizard, and a teacher of wizards.
That's aweful. God six hours? How aweful. Poor man.

Love that the cat got into the cat story❤❤❤❤

Boy, what a character. It would have nice to have known this man. You would have had an exciting time riding, gambling and cavorting with the court.
These death sound very gruesome but that was the the time beheading torture
Wow someone who didn't lose his head and died in his bed and the other poor soul 6hrs to die if he was a Catholic he'd would have been made Saint . And a lovely look at one of your cats big too is it a tom xx

A working castle needs a legend I suppose, creepy or heraldic, whatever works. Shame on the black Friar.
Why is there a thumb down... if you don't like it don't watch
Ti2gR probably someone who thinks Tudor history is a conspiracy, which obviously Claire should have mentioned in her video 🙄
Or it is about the background clicks...
Who else is making reservations for March 7 2027? LOL
🐈
