Loved these games as a kid- I just remembered this part of my childhood and I think I might get the game again for nostalgia's sake. Haven't played it in over a decade, but I remembered it was tons of fun and really addictive. :)
I played Warcraft I: Orcs and Humans when it first came out in 1994. Now I re-purchased the same thing off of Good Old Games and I still play it to this day! I have loved the Warcraft RTS series since it first began. Yes, I'm still one of those hopeless people that wishes Warcraft 4 would happen some day, even though I know it will probably never happen.
Oh it will happen, we'll just have to wait until World of Warcraft dies out so they can reboot the series and continue from where Warcraft 3 ended. Starcraft 2 is also becoming less popular, and Warcraft 4 will be the next big thing in RTS to replace it.

Warcraft 3 just was too complex. I didn't care about most of the lore, and the troops are WAY too tanky. War2 is tough. You need a ton of troops and its hectic with catapults destroying the enemy and you alike, paladins frantically healing their wounded comrades, archers shooting down your dragons, your destroyers bombing all those who venture to the shore... good times

Soon my brothers were interested, so you want to know what he did? He drove around our parish looking for the old DELL computers that people were throwing away. He collected about 50 PC's and monitors to play on. THEN, He spent at least 1 hour on each of those computers wiping their memory and and downloading "Tides of Darkness" on them. My dad has been talking this game for about a week now. Idk why. But he says 'i miss the old times'. He even told me that when i was 2, i like to sit on his lap when i was he played it. And i got curious. Cause my dad is hella strict. So it shocked me that he played games like this.
W1 was okay and when W2 came out ut was such a huge leap in terms of improvement game, story and graphics wise that I kept playing it over and over without getting tired. Till this day I still cherish W2. Wish I could have delved to W3 as well but oh well College happened 😅.

I think WC2 had the most "Warcraft-ish" feel. It was brutal, it was over the top. WC3 had some of that over saturated colors of WC2, but with the blocky graphics it wasn't the best. What I don't like in Reforged is that it has this watery color scheme... -Where are those strong greens of WC2 or the lovable round trees (at least from the default angle) and those lush patches of grass from WC3?
Yeah, I didn't like the 'hero' units in WC3. It made combat too much about controlling them and not enough about controlling basic units for my tastes.

The first Warcraft I played was Warcraft 2 on the Playstation. I loved it but hated how slow the game got in the later missions when there was too many units on the screen.
If you used them AS catapults not so much. Heavy melee heavily armored defending then for example....aerial support too? The area of effect feature plus objects taking the brunt in comparison unless armored of course... WHEW. Let's not forget the endless volley shooting they could do especially in a tight fit.

They said they're remaking the level design but the story is the same and stay true to the original. They haven't really given us any news at all for over half a year now so I wouldn't keep my expectations too high, they're probably struggling with making their new platform work as intended and realizing the majority of popular custom games use custom assets meaning they will be unplayable in warcraft reforged.
WTF. In one year the graphics and gameplay of 1 and 2 are noticeable. WC3 was amazing, but evened out by the wait. Reforged was a hell of a lot longer and barely a noticeable difference.

Some games work better in 2D. Warcraft 2 is by far the best in the series, and one of the best strategy games of all-time. So addictive though, won't recommend if you have other shit to do.
