This so much this! I really want to use beanies etc in the winter for my sims, but I hate how they look so I almost never do. I think they do it because if you have big ears it would clip, but I would have been perfectly fine with it only working if the sims has small/normal ears. At least give us one beanie that actually works for a cold winter pleaaaase.
I don't think the issue here is that they don't understand how beanies work, but rather that it's "difficult" to mesh them nicely to go with hair meshes at all .. even the high sitting hats often "require" distorted hair meshes, so whenever they add hats that cover the ears they basically make the sim bald underneath, which is not ideal either. I wished they'd put more effort into hats too, but I doubt it'll happen.

As a Californian I definitely wouldn’t wear any beanies other then just for looks which is very rarely. A lot of the items in this ep gives me more of a vintage vibe.

But the long hairs don’t look that off anyways, it’s the ones not covering their ears which really looks off
Instead of making separate wardrobes for masc and femme frames, they should design only one wardrobe and use the rest of the time making sure it fits on both body types properly.
I think for once the clothes are not just for YA, but for older Sims as well, and I don't think we have many clothes in the Sims 4 that are for older sims.
I'm really upset they didn't update glasses. I wear glasses everyday. And the last 10 years styles have changed so much. I love the sunglasses but we can do better. Idk why it's always forgotten.
I am also half and half. As someone who is much more of a stylist than a builder or storyteller, I was super excited for this pack for the CAS. Snowy Escape had such few items even for female sims, which was such a loss since Japan is KNOWN for its fashion. And cottagecore is right up my alley, esp. the fashion. And the female CAS here is WONDERFUL, like A+, only a handful of items won't be used everyday by me. It's right up there with the CAS from Eco Lifestyle and Discover University for me. But yeah, the male items. I never make male sims because I always make them look exactly the same; same hairs and same clothes, the only thing that changes is skin color and eye color. Because there just isn't that much variety for males. They get so little, and what they do get ends up looking like what they already have. And the Sims team said that they had a lot planned for male sims, and yeah, it may be a bit more than what they usually get, but it's not that different if it looks like what they already have (or just isn't that attractive in the first place).
1:54 I have to disagree with you here that the braid doesn't look too different from other hairstyles. Yes we've had braids before, but the hair texture on all the others is very very straight. My hair is curly and this is the first time in 7 years I've seen a hairstyle in the game that looks like how I wear my hair 80% of the time.
I agree it’s super cute! And type 3 curly hair is often forgotten in games and the like. It’s like 100 straight hairstyles and one kinky Afro for good measure. Thinking especially about when I tried to make a Memoji of myself and found it to be impossible 🥲 but also in the sims… i understand curls are hard to make low poly though
So I feel like I should just mention since you talked about how it was weird seeing nighties in everyday. The truth is that Everyday is auto unchecked. If you go to the filter you'll see that Everday isn't checked and if you were to check it you'd see a lot a lot of the formal, nighty, swimwear, and costumes pieces would be hidden.
It’s not a hunting hat it’s a fishing hat. When I was a kid I saved up frutopia bottle tops to get one... also you kept complaining about “granny” stuff but I’m just excited to have more options to put grannies in! I like that they added stuff for my proper sims and elder sims. I don't always want YA current fashion being added to a life simulator game. I need more than a YA life.
I personally would've love to have seen more masculine CAS items in the cottagecore aesthetic considering that's the approach the Sims team took with feminine CAS items
just bc it's not my thing doesn't mean it has to not be yours! I'd never go up to someone and be like "hey I think your shoes are disgusting" bc that's never my place to say and everyone has different styles. I just don't like these ones in the game
Yeah...I'm getting really tired of masculine framed Sims having to put up with almost clownishly stereotypical masc stuff. EIther they start giving us more neutral items, or make the feminine stuff fit better. As an enby, it really is starting to grate on my last nerve that in this day and age, we're still stuck on a binary in the Sims.
As a fellow enby, I agree!! Whenever I make a masc framed non-binary sim, I always end up using the same few femme assets that look somewhat OK on masc frames (a few skirts, some shoes, one or two tops)
feminine sims clothing-- both basegame and cc-- is so oversaturated with croptops and high-waisted everything. I'm honestly sick of it so I'm happy to see this breath of fresh air
The leggings are classified as trousers (like the BG toddler's ones) due to the bows that are 3D. Leggings and socks are just texture put on top of the sim's skin, so they can work layered with pants, but if you have some tights that have 3D objects in them they can clip with fitting pants, plus accessories in general don't have a normal map (they can't have "fake" 3D details). It's a technical "issue" more than a "classification" one :)
I'm so happy to see the toddlers getting so many different clothes in this pack because we have definitely been needing some more. I agree it's a super huge missed opportunity to not give the kids some cute pj's with foxes and bunnies on them! It would really have been the perfect pack to make cute kids pj's so I don't understand why they didn't think of it.
I got so excited when i saw the green build swatches, because they match the green build swatches in discover university! Idk why that just touched my heart that they matched, like say windows swatches across packs!

This cas was such a let down for the male sims. I wish they had that knitted sweater with embroidery for male sims or more chunky knitted cardigans or peter pan collar button up with the dungarees or the formal wide legged pants just anything interesting or cottage core ughh. I was really looking forward this pack bringing some vintage "dark academia" type of clothes for males. CC creators pls get us boys some cottage core clothes
The cas is right up my alley. It’s like the sims team looked at my Pinterest board and soul. Now I’m a female who likes feminine cottage core aesthetic so me and my level 10 gardener sims are thriving. That being said I feel they fell short on child, toddlers , masculine sim cas. This pack was nice because it was very on the nose with cottage core but it also aligns well with what’s already a trend so a lot of it feels versatile and useable. I get disappointed at shared hairs for feminine/masculine sims because it feels less for diversity and more of an afterthought. I wish we had textured beards, options to just take on or off hair accessories rather than it taking up a whole slot. And then as always the option to tuck in our out clothing would be golden 🥰✨
im feeling like they fell short on a lot of things there just isn't enough stuff to warrant it being an expansion pack at all. only one new floor and two new wallpapers?? and no new toilets, no new toddler beds, only ONE BED for adults, like??? wtf???

3 hairstyles for masculine styles and 12 (well 10 + 2 variations) for female styles. Also the fact that there are twice as many styled looks for females further shows how little masucline styles get. Are they actively TRYING to anger the community now? This is getting ridiculous. ESPECIALLY after they said they try to make it more equal. This has to be a joke.
i wish the masc sims got more cottagecore style clothes but i LOVE those fullbody outfits and i am happy that we got more items. Coming from Dream Home Decorator where the balance between masc and fem sims was absolute shit, this feels at least a step in the right direction.
I wasn't one of those cheering for farming, BUT I'm pretty happy (until I get the pack to know for sure). Nice to be excited for TS4. It's been a while. I know the hair you put on the masc-sim is very similar to a lot of hairstyles we have, but this one is finally one that looks like my hair and I honestly want this pack just for that hair that's a lie, giving away €40 is just pure pain (that's a joke btw)
I know everyone is hating on the crumplebottom stuff but honestly it's perfect for senior sims and also for those of us who play in different time periods. Those color blocked Mary Jane's are AMAZING and the only other similar option we have just came out in the Paranormal Stuff Pack. The textures are a bit weird tho on the crumplebottom patterned swatches - it makes them look like alpha cc. Some of the items I have by Linzlu and HistoricalSimsCC looks better.
yeah that's what I meant! I really don't mind the outfits but the alpha look to them is a weird choice. like you can tell they were only made for the townies
I love that they added more clothes for ekders and especially older women. Although you didn't like it, I can definitely see myself using them, because so far I had to rely on CC for my older Sims to look their age. This mayor's hat gives me royal wedding vibes. But I wholeheartedly agree with the male cas criticism. All the clothes in the game so far for masc Sim are so straight and alpha male looking. I need something for my soft and elegant boys! This pack would've been great for soft bois, but they didn't think of men who are not stereotypicaly masculine unfortunately. I think Discover University has this slight dark academia feel but it still falls short in diversifying male wardrobe imo.
I deffo wouldn't have minded them if they were maxis match but they're like a weird blend with hints of alpha. like you can tell they were specifically made for the crumplebottoms and the mayor, just a very odd design choice
I find it rather ironic, and hypocritical, people who get all triggered by the mention of hunting and/or the butchering of animals in the game are the same people that go on and on about this being a "life simulator" as well as not saying a damn thing about FISHING. Oh no we can't "murder" cows or chickens or animals with legs...but fins...NO PROBLEM! LMAO.
I kinda agree, but also hunting for food is more ethical than mass-produced meat, because the animals have lived free in their natural environment before becoming someone's meal. 💁♀️

in the uk it's extremely different. the only people who hunt here are people who have far too much money and go on fox hunts for fun or go on trips to kill tigers etc

@@kamar1171 Guns are also illegal in the UK without a farming license. Farmers only use their guns to get rid of pests anyway. Pretty sure hunting wildlife has been illegal for a long time here. So the only hunting is fox hunting where they let dogs tear them apart. People also travel abroad for trophy hunting. So it definitely has a bad reputation here
A lot of the items on this expansion gives me more of a 30s to 50s vibes without glits and glamour of Vintage Glamour and Get Famous. But that’s just my opinion on what I seen so far. Definitely perfect for a generation gameplay.
Finally rubber boots that don't look hugely oversized and blocky like the ones we got with seasons. Don't understand all the heels though, no one wears heels while gardening and tending to animals, do they? I mean, I think just 1 pair would've been fine tbh and some more suitable footwear to actually use at home.
Just incase ppl are new to the game and don't understand the EVERYDAY WEAR tab, it is simply ALL available wear (swimwear, sleepwear, winter, etc.) To know what category an item is for you have to click the other categories and if it shows there (like sleepwear or swimwear for example) then that's the category it was intended for, however you can obviously wear whatever you want from any category. But yes, "Everyday" category is literally THE WHOLE CATALOGUE ( a complete list of items, typically one in alphabetical or other systematic order). No one would wear a swimsuit as everyday wear, but YOU COULD. LOL
It's funny hearing people from over seas talk about hunting, where I'm from it's such a conservationist activity that it's got such a green leftist young feeling to it. So it's been interesting hearing all the ick hunting vibes from so many young creates.
I think that depends on what part of America that you're from. Where I'm from hunting is something most everyone do and is totally normal. And I think that's true for the majority of the country, considering most of America itself is rural.
It is probably because in the UK the only big hunting is fox hunting, which is disgusting, and is constantly up for debate in the UK and its legality changes everytime the PM changes.
Don't apologize for anything. What you call those braids has to do with the custom of where you grew up. Whether you call them "french" or "dutch" shouldn't offend anyone. In America we call them "french braids". We use neither "dutch" or "plaits". But, I'm not so shallow or thin skinned to be offended because I don't have enough sense to know that everyone/everywhere has their own names for things.
there is actually a difference between french and dutch braids!! they’re braided almost exactly the same, but for dutch braids it’s sort of inverted? in a way? so that the braid almost sits on top of the hair, where with french braids they sort of go into the hair. it’s just a difference in technique basically!

3 hairstyles for masculine styles and 12 (well 10 + 2 variations) for female styles. Also the fact that there are twice as many styled looks for females further shows how little masucline styles get. Are they actively TRYING to anger the community now?

i wish the masc sims got more cottagecore style clothes but i LOVE those fullbody outfits and i am happy that we got more items. Coming from Dream Home Decorator where the balance between masc and fem sims was absolute shit, this feels at least a step in the right direction.

Don't forget that not everyone has EVERY pack... so a skirt similar to the one that came with another pack can be really useful

I know everyone is hating on the crumplebottom stuff but honestly it's perfect for senior sims and also for those of us who play in different time periods. Those color blocked Mary Jane's are AMAZING and the only other similar option we have just came out in the Paranormal Stuff Pack. The textures are a bit weird tho on the crumplebottom patterned swatches - it makes them look like alpha cc. Some of the items I have by Linzlu and HistoricalSimsCC looks better.
yeah that's what I meant! I really don't mind the outfits but the alpha look to them is a weird choice. like you can tell they were only made for the townies
I love that they added more clothes for ekders and especially older women. Although you didn't like it, I can definitely see myself using them, because so far I had to rely on CC for my older Sims to look their age. This mayor's hat gives me royal wedding vibes. But I wholeheartedly agree with the male cas criticism. All the clothes in the game so far for masc Sim are so straight and alpha male looking. I need something for my soft and elegant boys! This pack would've been great for soft bois, but they didn't think of men who are not stereotypicaly masculine unfortunately. I think Discover University has this slight dark academia feel but it still falls short in diversifying male wardrobe imo.

I find it rather ironic, and hypocritical, people who get all triggered by the mention of hunting and/or the butchering of animals in the game are the same people that go on and on about this being a "life simulator" as well as not saying a damn thing about FISHING. Oh no we can't "murder" cows or chickens or animals with legs...but fins...NO PROBLEM! LMAO.
I kinda agree, but also hunting for food is more ethical than mass-produced meat, because the animals have lived free in their natural environment before becoming someone's meal. 💁♀️

Hearing her say that she wouldn’t want to be hanging out with anyone who hunts was jarring to me because I forgot not everyone lives in a rural us town
in the uk it's extremely different. the only people who hunt here are people who have far too much money and go on fox hunts for fun or go on trips to kill tigers etc
@@EnglishSimmer I'm sure that's not true. If you're not part of that culture you would have a very biased view of that reality in your country. And, to each their own whether you would hunt or not, but it is a natural part of nature after all and we are all animals in the end.
@@EnglishSimmer a lot of U.S. hunting is deer hunting, which is necessary for population control and nature conservation since the white tailed deer here reproduce like crazy, so I think a lot of people in the U.S. don't think too much about it. I think it's a cultural difference. I totally understand why you'd hate to be around people who hunt foxes and endangered species for no reason though.

We don't understand the politics and etiquette behind hunting in your country, so please do not try to 'educate' Mollie about them in her own country. It is a very widely known subject over here. @@kamar1171 Guns are also illegal in the UK without a farming license. Farmers only use their guns to get rid of pests anyway. Pretty sure hunting wildlife has been illegal for a long time here. So the only hunting is fox hunting where they let dogs tear them apart. People also travel abroad for trophy hunting. So it definitely has a bad reputation here
A lot of the items on this expansion gives me more of a 30s to 50s vibes without glits and glamour of Vintage Glamour and Get Famous. But that’s just my opinion on what I seen so far. Definitely perfect for a generation gameplay.
Finally rubber boots that don't look hugely oversized and blocky like the ones we got with seasons. Don't understand all the heels though, no one wears heels while gardening and tending to animals, do they? I mean, I think just 1 pair would've been fine tbh and some more suitable footwear to actually use at home.

Just incase ppl are new to the game and don't understand the EVERYDAY WEAR tab, it is simply ALL available wear (swimwear, sleepwear, winter, etc.) To know what category an item is for you have to click the other categories and if it shows there (like sleepwear or swimwear for example) then that's the category it was intended for, however you can obviously wear whatever you want from any category. But yes, "Everyday" category is literally THE WHOLE CATALOGUE ( a complete list of items, typically one in alphabetical or other systematic order). No one would wear a swimsuit as everyday wear, but YOU COULD. LOL
It's funny hearing people from over seas talk about hunting, where I'm from it's such a conservationist activity that it's got such a green leftist young feeling to it. So it's been interesting hearing all the ick hunting vibes from so many young creates.
I think that depends on what part of America that you're from. Where I'm from hunting is something most everyone do and is totally normal. And I think that's true for the majority of the country, considering most of America itself is rural.
It is probably because in the UK the only big hunting is fox hunting, which is disgusting, and is constantly up for debate in the UK and its legality changes everytime the PM changes.

Don't apologize for anything. What you call those braids has to do with the custom of where you grew up. Whether you call them "french" or "dutch" shouldn't offend anyone. In America we call them "french braids". We use neither "dutch" or "plaits". But, I'm not so shallow or thin skinned to be offended because I don't have enough sense to know that everyone/everywhere has their own names for things.
there is actually a difference between french and dutch braids!! they’re braided almost exactly the same, but for dutch braids it’s sort of inverted? in a way? so that the braid almost sits on top of the hair, where with french braids they sort of go into the hair. it’s just a difference in technique basically!
@@whimsical_bitches_club exactly! The French braid is done by braiding sections of hair over each other and the Dutch one is done by braiding them under each other. I hope that makes sense 😅

I want my men sims to be able to be more masculine. Like we don’t have body hair. They don’t have more masculine hobbies. I want my men sims to be able to feel more like men. It just feels like a game for women. There needs to be a balance
