- A tour of my backyard greenhouse and shade box. I put this together last year to have a great environment for some of my plants. the greenhouse has a 50% shade cloth wrapped around and house many cacti, euphorbia, agaves, and aloes. I built the shade box to be able to hold another 40 square feet of plant space. Also with 505 shade cloth around.

You have an amazing collection. I really want a spiral cacti and a booby cacti.
Thank you so much. Definitely had to order those online. No nursery in Vegas carries them. Got the spiral off of Etsy!
The white cacti with pink thorns at 2:43 so pretty, Echinocereus rigidissimus? I often see the rainbow hedgehog cactus in the wild, truly incredible! plants.

Thank you. I try to keep it that way. Lol
Vous avez de très beaux cactus et succulentes. Mais..je dois avouer que j’aime beaucoup le meuble dans votre serre! Ça me donne des idées d’aménagement. Trop beau!
Thx so much! I appreciate it!
I liked that you touched on shaded cactuses/ it’s not talked about a lot
Thank you. I’ve learned the hard way. Each one has its own challenges! They are so unique! Love em
Os cactos brancos são os que mais gosto e as mamilarias pelas suas florações
I love Mammillarias too. So many different kinds! Love the Candidas too.
Looking great! Do you use the greenhouse all summer? Is the shade cloth enough to keep it from getting too hot?
Thanks so much! Yes I do. It was up to 117 last summer and they were in there. Where it sits it starts to shade off at 2pm.
Hey what type of soil are you using for the Ariocarpus, they look beautiful in those pots.
I currently have mine in my normal gritty mix with some lava rock as top soil 🙃
Thank you! I’m using 50%cactus mix, 40%perlite and 10%rocks. Little bit of earthworm castings as fertilizer. Top dressed on fisuratus with natural stones from source on Amazon. The Kotschoubeyanus has some native sand from Vegas in the mix and top dressed with it too!
I'm jealous with how healthy your cacti are. Mine keep dying from root rot or rust fungus. Even if I don't water them.
Thank you. Sorry to hear that. We have very dry weather here in Vegas. I lost one cactus to root rot this year so far. Older melocactus. I know it hurts to lose them!
Try adding more inorganic material like pumice, perlite, lava. I usually do 75% inorganic here in Phoenix. I end up having to water more but I’d rather not risk rot. There are also systemic fungicides you can add to your soil. Good luck!
I love your set up do you sell your seedlings I live in South Carolina
Thx so much. I don’t yet. My goal is to have them ready by next spring. I will try to let you know if sooner!
wow. how weak is the cactus at the corner @1:35 ? damn. i have never seen a cactus being supported.
It’s a cutting that’s being rooted. Mryrtilocactus are curved on the ends when they branch off. I was just posturing it the way I want it. Lol
too much heat? where are you located?
Las Vegas. It gets hot. Greenhouse has vents and I leave door open. Had no trouble last year
Plant marked as "Stenocactus crispatus" is actualy Hamaocactus setispinus.
Thx for letting me know! Appreciate it.
That’s like 3 years worth of water from those cactuses your ready for nuclear winter
lol. Like little hydro flasks!
Thx so much D!
