What words did Queen Elizabeth forbid to be used

- What words did Queen Elizabeth forbid to be used in the family? The first word Patio, it was to be replaced by taerrace. The second word is toilet, it is preferred to the word lavatory, the use of this word is prescribed by royal etiquette. Moreover, it is even recommended to refuse synonyms like bathroom or ladies. The next word is pardon, if the person you are talking to didn't hear what you said, you should ask what? The word dad is strictly forbidden. It is considered simply inappropriate. More gentle addresses are considered appropriate, Daddy or Papa, which is pronounced in the French manner with the accent on the second syllable. The queen rested only on the sofa. There is no couch or settee in the palace. Perfume is a middle-class lexicon. When talking about smells, it is better to speak of scent, meaning aristocratic flavour.
Nonsense!!! HM didn’t forbid these words - they just weren’t used!
Sounds like nonsense to me
And you know this. How????
Complete rubbish, the words used are typical of the upper classes - lavatory, sofa, daddy, terrace. Mitford wrote about this determining words as U or non-U language. People use the language they grow up with. The Royals are no different.
Error = SCENT not sand!
No, Royals are better than non-royals
Same as in Dutch. The reason was that when Napoleon invaded the Netherlands, many newly wealthy families adopted French words to sound posh (like toilet for water closet). The old moneyed-families stuck to the old words and that hasn’t changed much.
She is deeply missed🥺.
If the queen or crown stop stealing from melanated ppls countries England would have to apply for welfare A.S.A.P! so missed by who.....only you😂
I am an American who remembers the beautiful young lady who pledged her service to the citizens of the UK until her last breath. She kept that vow for 70 years, with her last precious breath. I was a little girl when I watched her coronation on a black and white blurry television. I miss her terribly.
You should read the Declaration of Independence. And grow up. Toilet

It is so rude to say "what?"
It depends on the tone in which one says it. ´Pardon’ sounds too subservient.
My Mom didn't allow the word fart or other crude words. Today, I don't care for those words either.
Eructation and flatus sound a lot better!
You mum sounds as if she was a bit of a prude.
@@lewis8423My mother did this as well. She may have been a "prude" but what does that mean? We grew up with manners. For example, we didn't openly pass gas infront of people and even family.
Burps? We covered our mouths and wouldn't share them loudly with the world.
If I burp today, in others company, I grab a napkin and make it quiet. I then say "Pardon me" or "excuse me" or the likes thereof.
We didn't chew food with our mouths open nor did we speak with food in our mouths.
To this day, I don't want to be around people who chew with their mouths open and make loud masticating noises.
Nor, people who messily eat with their hands leaving them greasy or wet as they eat.
I know my mother wasn't an openly sexual woman and I'm glad for that. She dressed fashionably and that doesn't mean head to to in cotton, lol.
She was beautiful.
If that's "prude", well, I might suggest that you weren't taught any manners by a woman who really couldn't care less.
We grew up very poor, 5 brothers and myself. I'm proud of my mom for teaching us basic manners. The word "Fart" sounds sharp, is lazy slang, imo, and always sounded akin to a swear word. Even as a child, hearing another child say it was...weird.
So, what you might call prude, I simply dismiss. I call this proper education of children at home. School cannot teach this. It is an at home job that I think teachers wish would be taught to all children.
Words Thank you; Sorry; Excuse me; May I; and such.
Every child should be taught manners at home to carry with them throughout life.
I question any parents that don't teach their child any sort of etiquette at all.
Why?
Why wouldn't they?
This is why we have people walking around in pajamas or just appear lazy, when they go to the movie theaters, out to eat or shopping. Parents who just didn't care.
Most people who I know have pretty similar manners...and values for that matter.
Good Mothers.♡
Yes, I went on for a bit more that _that_ word, but calling another womans mother a prude? Interesting.
Prude: Shy, discreet or demure. Also, feeling shy around explicit sexual talk and nudity.
Opposite of prude: Carefree! Libertine, uninhibited, sensual and whorish.
Yikes.
I don't think the Prude definition is bad at all however I know it was intended as an undesirable feature by Lewis.
Well, that was rude and presumptuous. So, knowing that your mother taught you differently, should that give me free access to call her the opposite of a "pude"?
We saw the official words used for that.
Carefree! Indeed.
Whorish? Well, it's the opposite of "Prude', so I guess.
You see why that was a wrong thing to say now, I hope.
All this, because you decided children taught _not_ to say that word were prudes.
That may or may not have been true for all children taught not to say FART.
An assumption by you and now, one made by me about _your_ mother.
Maybe leave our precious mother's out of it. Perhaps don't judge over one thing, as it can snowball into many assumptions.
No hard feelings...unless you're a fan of the fake mother...Rachel Ragland.
Then, it's ON!

Private school education ? Very well read. , very well travelled.
I have impeccable table manners.
I think if you consult an Oxford dictionary you will find the word fart there.
I am absolutely flabbergasted that the Royals ever talked about these mundane things at all.... 😅
What a shame they have nothing else to worry about in their very privileged lives .
Wording a little messed up. Scent not sand?
Bit over the top.
More silly rules 😂
I know William and Harry refer to King Charles as their "Father".
I thought they referred to him as "Pa"...
When talking about him they would say father but when personally addressing him they would call out "Pa or PaPa".
Pa
Saying What instead of Pardon surprises me. I have always considered that rude.
I thought it was Love and Sorry
'U' and non 'U' is still a thing and she knew that they were perceived as lower middle 💀
The Queen was only teaching what many parents do. I used the words my parents did, same as the Queen. Other words are not banned, they are simply not used in some circles.
The Queen Mother was rude and rigid. Her disdain for Prince Phillip was uncharacteristic of a real Royal. She even walked in front of him. Rude!! What was disdainful was her stained yellow teeth. A dentist could easily have removed the stains every 6 months since she drinks tea daily.
Firstly you don't have a clue about protocol. Secondly, her teeth were fantastic. Most people of 96 would kill for teeth like hers.
Noone was.allowed to walk in front of the Queen not even her husband.
@@cindysmith1476they are talking about the Queen's mother. The pecking order was Queen, Prince Philip, Queen Mother etc down the ranks. Basically the Queen mum was so used to being numero uno, and her dislike of Philip was so deeply rooted, she ignored protocol and walked in front of him. The only person who could have told her off was her daughter, the Queen. (Who I suspect did tell her off but who was ignored).
I adored the Queen Mum. She had a great sense of humour and raised morale during the Blitz
I saw her when she visited Trinidad and Tobago, but she was in Trinidad, I was a little girl, we went to the town to see her pass by and wave…I always loved the royal family and the other royal houses around the world.
She always seems old woman without emotions or feeling
❤❤❤❤
I'm not sure I believe the queen said "what"???? It's so rude.
I won't repeat myself if someone says that to me!!!!! Pardon is the polite way to go x!x
Royalty DOESN'T mean HRM,
Words like "posh" are considered too working class. "Smart" is used, instead.
😂🤣😅
I miss that classy lady!
So you’re supposed to say toilet or lavatory ~ which one?
How about….LOO? 😆🤣😆😂
I didn’t get that either!?
I always use "bog" or "cludgie" . 🤣🤣🤣
Truly, there should never be a time when the terms become necessary. My auntie used "the facilities", a nice, tidy little euphemism.

It makes sense
This is such bs. These are just upper class versions. Any aristocratic family or anyone who might have attended boarding school in England will use these terms, the queen didn't ban them, they just weren't words she would use or understand. If you'd used the word 'patio', someone would have translated 'terrace' for her, and she'd go on her way. No need to make this crap up.
