    I got a fun fact: when Gyro sang the pizza mozzarella song to Johnny, it's pretty likely that Johnny didn't even know what Gyro was singing about at the time because the first Pizzeria in the USA was opened in 1904 while the Steel ball run took place in 1890

      Also in chapter 36 Gyro tells Johnny a pun that only makes sense in Japanese, a language that as far as we know neither of them speak. I think a large amount of what Gyro does is just completely incomprehensible to Johnny.

    2:03 For those that don't know - "Get Back" by The Beatles features lyrics that reference a "Jojo", although clearly not any of the JoJos that we know because Get Back was written well before JJBA. This means that Araki himself made a Jojo reference within JoJo.

    Fun fact: more than half of the parts in jojo mentions or have characters/stands that may be named after the guitarist Jeff Beck and/or his album Wired:
    In Phantom Blood, there's a farmer called Jeff Back
    In Battle Tendency, there's a vampire called Wired Beck, most likely as a reference to both Jeff Beck and his album Wired
    In Diamond is Unbreakable, Akira Otoishi mentions Jeff Beck when he explains his dream of becoming a rock star
    In Golden Wind, it was briefly mentioned that Giorno's favorite musician is Jeff Beck
    In Steel Ball Run, the character Pork Pie Hat Kid has a stand called Wired, possibly as a reference to Jeff Beck's Album

    On the topic of Sam Raimi, there is a scene during the Urban Guerilla fight in Jojolion where Urban Guerilla's hand reaches out of the ground at Yasuho's throat, drawn in such a way that it looks like it was lifted right off of the original Evil Dead movie poster.

    7:25 this one is pretty funny because even if you noticed it you would likely just think its an animation error and nothing more (and it was, of course), but there is actual context in the show for it being a problem to the canon, which is hilarious that one animation error happened to do something that wrong.

    Sounds like zeppeli saying he never married was a legitimate case of "araki forgot", and it was enough to warrant an apology from the man himself

    • @5Detective
      @5Detective 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Afraid not- in this case, it was "Araki regretted his decision, because he loved the name Zeppeli and the reference to the band." He thought he used it too briefly too early, so he just added more Zeppeli's and did a retcon.

    • @darthnox8286
      @darthnox8286 2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

      @@5Detective True, but best part about the Zeppeli retcon? It completely destroys any arguments of "Araki's lying in interviews!" because he apologized for a genuine mistake, and edited it just to suit the story better, meaning Araki's "forgot" moments where an interview is used can pretty much all be debunked as him not forgetting.

    • @il3fortunato664
      @il3fortunato664 2 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      I think it is even in the original, Gyro is how Japanese pronunce J. Lo so isn't a romanization, just a literal and correct translation.

      @dooplon5083 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      @@il3fortunato664 I have never heard of this and it doesn't make sense sense to me immediately, why would they pronounce the J like in gyro ("jai"/じゃい) instead of like "jei"(じぇい) like they do for every other time that they pronounce the letter by name, like how for JK, a slang for highschool girls, is "jei kei" or Japan Railways/JR is called "jei aaru"?
      Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a mistake and then kept for consistency since ジャイロ and ジェイロ look almost identical save for one character lol.

      I could not agree more. An insanely talented VA, personal all-time favorite, whom I cannot praise enough. _Personally,_ I prefer when she voices female characters who are more stoic over when she plays hot-blooded males, screaming her head off.
      Not that there's _anything_ wrong with the way she voices the latter, it's just my personal preference.
      If I had _one_ role she's played that I _especially_ like, I would _have_ to go with Kiryūin Ragyō from _Kill La Kill._ Damn near _perfect._

    I have a fun fact! Uh, maybe. Crazy Diamond's motorised summoning sound is actually a sped-up version of the tech door opening sound from the 1993 first-person shooter Doom. The audio itself is actually copyright free material, so it's likely it was picked up from an online audio bank without recognising its previous uses.
    If you're so inclined, this could potentially make Crazy Diamond a Doom reference.

    There was an American comic from 1997 called Diesel which was inspired heavily by the N'Doul fight from the 1993 JoJo OVA. Also good to mention that 1997 was before the JoJo OVA was even released in America and even before the 2000s OVA came out. The author had apparently seen a fansubbed VHS copy of the 1993 ova episode and had been very impressed by it. After trying to get the rights to localize the manga and failing, he instead tried starting his own americanized version which ended up being this cancelled comic called Diesel.

    As another fun fact from the italian edition of Jojo, Gyro Zeppeli's name in Part 7 is changed to "J.Lo Zeppeli" (I think I've read somewhere that it was because Gyro is a trademark in Italy, but I'm not entirely sure). They literally created a musical reference that wasn't in the original version

    • @il3fortunato664
      @il3fortunato664 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think it was even in original, Gyro is just how Japanese pronunce J. Lo so the translation is literal. Isn't our translation that made a musical reference but it was intentional for Araki to do that. Many times he gives music pop stars names to his characters so isn't strange to found that, also Johnny referencing the song Johnny B. Good.

    The Pokemon Special/Pokemon Adventures manga took clear inspiration from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, primarily in its style of writing fights, but also a few direct references. When Red fights a Gastly in the Pokemon Tower, whose fog is puppeting Green and the corpses of Pokemon, his solution is to have Saur suck up all the fog. Yellow's ability to heal is commented upon in a similar way to Jotaro noting Crazy Diamond, in that it's fundamentally an ability of kindness in a destructive world. Agatha directly references Enya, taunting that a blade cannot cut through fog.

      @@MasterLu551 They usually tweak or even downright retranslate stuff if needed when they release a brand new edition of a manga, and it's also been the case with JoJo. They simply stick with their translation choices in an ongoing series, so for example the locacaca fruit was romanized as rokakaka because it wasn't spelled out in Latin letters when they started translating JoJolion, and they won't change the translation on the spot in late volumes. I imagine they would change it to "locacaca" from the get go if/when they'll release a new edition of JoJolion (e.g. the bunkoban format)
