    Just come across this video. In its simplest form a telescope is a lens, an eyepiece a method to keep them aligned, abitity to focus and a method to point it where you want. You've proved that you dont need anything fancy to produce good results. About 40 years ago I made a 6" reflector using more or less the same materials so I can appreciate your effort.

    Hello! Excellent tutorial, this was really helpful. I have a question, I wasn't able to find the exact reducer so I bought one which has a slightly bigger hole than the 25mm pipe. I added another 25mm joint to other side (like the one used for eyepiece) so the eyepiece segment could fit in the bigger reducer hole, so is it okay that way? Also, my lens came scratched 😢. The scratch is not on the outside but in between the two lenses. Will the scratch affect the image? I haven't used it yet because the Tripod is still on the way.

    • @VinKrishSolutions
      @VinKrishSolutions  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi... thank you for the comment...

      The axes of both the lenses should be in a same straight line. Distance between the lenses should be around 708mm (if your eyepiece is 8mm). If these conditions are met, the telescope should work.

    sir thank you for your video but please help, since I cannot buy the eyepiece and lens set from the link above due to the country I'm from, would d52f600 doublet lens and 20mm eyepiece still work? would i also have to change the length and diameter of the pvc pipes in order for it to work? could I please have the formula to calculating the length and diameter of the pipes that I need to use referring to a different focal of the doublet lens and eyepiece? thank you so much🙏🏻

    • @AC-ft2dw
      @AC-ft2dw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      for segment 1 I also found a dia 54mm joint and outer dia 54mm pipe since I cannot find any other pipe that fits the d52f600 lens

    • @VinKrishSolutions
      @VinKrishSolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi... Your lens combination also should work as a telescope. Total length of telescope (objective lens to eyepiece lens distance) will reduce by ~100mm. Total length needed will be 600+20 = 620mm approx. Since dia of your objective lens is 52mm, a higher size pipe and joint as you have mentioned (54mm) may be good. Few trials may be required to have a good fit.

    • @VinKrishSolutions
      @VinKrishSolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a trial, you may try assembling with the same lengths of pipes. As total length needed is lesser, segment 2 may go further into the segment 1 to achieve the required length and for focusing properly.
      But for final setting, if you feel that segment 2 is going too much into segment 1, you may reduce the length of 25mm pipe (of seg 2) by ~100mm.
      Finally its your freedom, anyway total length of telescope should be adjusted to ~620mm for your set of lenses.
      Hope this is helpful...

      @AC-ft2dw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VinKrishSolutions hello thank you for the reply sir, to be sure I'd like to ask for your suggestion before trying it out
      I have calculated the ratio of the 500mm pipe in segment 1 and the 220mm pipe in segment 2, which is 11:25, therefore I am thinking of changing the pipe in segment 1 to 520mm and the pipe in segment 2 (the originally 220mm one) to 228mm which is approximately the same ratio as your original telescope, while for the 25mm od pipe to 100mm instead of 160mm to fit the total distance of 620mm (520+100)
      would the above length of pipes work? sorry for the trouble caused, I have zero knowledge on telescopes, thank you so much again sir

    • @VinKrishSolutions
      @VinKrishSolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AC-ft2dw Hi... since total length needed has become lesser (only 620mm instead of 725mm) increasing the lengths may not help... Decreasing lengths only may help...
      Your calculation of 520 + 100 may not be fully practical.... Portion of 40mm reducer for screwing and adjustment, 25mm joint etc will add to the lengths.... so pls do not increase any lengths....
