Carr has conquered the attenuator puzzle. When attenuated the Mercury V and the Telstar simply sound like an amp with less wattage. This used to be impossible. Steve is absolutely one of the best current amp designers.
Steve has gone from punk bassist/vocalist in the late 70's A. great band called The Rodents. To an industry giant, with his Gigantic heart and Superpower brain.Much love Steve from T.K.
I have a Carr Raleigh and a Fender Super amp from 1953, maybe I should get rid of those and just have this one amp. Naaaa, I think I will just purchase this and keep them all. Great job steve!
@@bobboitt3126 That Marshall like tone in such a versatile package is what I find so enticing about the Mercury V. I'm thinking about getting a head and pairing it with a 2 x 12 Cab or maybe the combo in tweed - decisions, decisions.
Incredible amp. But I wish people doing TONE demos would stop playing a million notes a second so we can hear what the TONE sounds like. No one cares how fast you can play. I know it’s crazy, but sometimes people hold notes out.. with vibrato.. so it’s nice to hear the instrument… not how fast you can play. Save that for gigs
I imagine that if the power section is grid biased, each tube might need to be biased separately to match each other's output. Probably not a huge deal, if that is so.

Carr is killing it. I have a Mercury V and it has that same attenuator ! That's a huge plus. You can adjust for any size room.

Don't the 6L6 and EL84 have different power outputs? Does the amp change the voltage to the tubes to compensate?
Steve Carr? HE’S MAD!
You're making No Nut November hard to achieve here. Sounds amazeballs!
Sick 'stache

Is there anyone in New Zealand selling these amps?

interesting - i wonder what ( if any) are the drawbacks to using an EL-84 and 6L6 in the power section ?

Please help me choose this Car Telstar or the Toneking Imperial mk2 for depth and clarity thanks Michael
