I had an abdominal cyst burst yesterday and they found a 4.8 cm mass when they did the CT. I've watched a half-dozen videos so far and this one has been the most informative.
I was just told today. I have a 4 cm Mass on my right kidney. They're going to remove the tumor. And the doctor said it a 7% chance of it coming back. You made it sound like no big deal you'll be fine.
Wow! This is the most informative video I watched on the subject. Many are good doctors and know their craft but not many are as good as this doctor explaining something that they spend years to master the craft. Evan advice on getting a second opinion tells volume. That reminds me of a little humor about a patient who is informed by the doctor that he's very sick. "Doc !!!! My husband had a motorcycle accident, and a scan found a 6cm mass on his kidney. He is set for surgery next week. This video used "words" we heard, but honestly, I didn't understand a thing we were being told. Thank you so much!
@2ssrs950 alive and well! Took 20% of kidney. The accident that almost took his life, saved his life. His multiple sans found an aneurysm and the mass on his kidney.

I had an MRI last week and the results came back suspicious for RCC. It is 1.3 cm, but I have to wait 8 days to speak to the doctor. Was your husband's cancer and what did the wording say? I guess I'm wondering if "suspicious for" means definitely or could be. I am so so scared.
My wife 29 had 11cm larg tumor in kidney without any symptoms or problems before. Completely removed with kidney and did not spread anywhere she is going on regular scanes and its still clean thank God.
Wow thats awfully young?? Wish her well!! My tumor was 6 cm and in stage 1 thankfully they took my entire kidney but also i just had my 63rd bday 3 weeks prior to the discovery. Again wish u much luck and good health

They found a accidental tumor in my kidney, I had multiple scans and MRI right after, they told me I didn't need a biopsy they were 90% sure it was cancer I started seeing an oncologist and a urologist, I'm 32yrs old pretty healthy so they really don't know why it happened, anyway I'm still recovering from a partial nephrectomy! And pathology report in fact confirmed It was cancer
@jj v how are you going now? They found a 22mm lesion on my right kidney accidently while have a scan for something else. I am quite anxious about the outcome. Going for a another CT scan with contrast this week. Fingers crossed its going to be ok. If not I am glad they found it earlier than later.

My surgery went well and was home in 2’days. They did a complete removal and used robot’s to do it!! Its 4weeks a few days and the wounds are all healed!! Amazing frikkin work these guys do!! Oh and at a cost of $162k my share of the bill was $775!! Thanks Obama!!!i loves me some obamacare! Much luck and a speedy recovery!!

I was just diagnosed with a 4 cm cancer tumor on my right kidney. I'm going to have the tumor removed. Doctor said 7% chance of her coming back. Don't worry about it. And that's what I'm going to do I'm not going to worry about it. I might think about it but I'm not going to worry about it. I'm going to go through the surgery and have the treatment.
Wow to all my fellow renal Mass survivors. I was getting an abdominal CT scan for PAD in October came back with a 6cm mass on my right kidney. Never got to do anything about the aorta or PAD yet. Cardio says were not doing anything until u do something with the kidney!! So with year end coming having to change my insurance I ended up having to do a radical nephrectomy a month ago!!arch 2024! Now will my lil ol remaining kidney hold up?? Only time will tell again!! Oh but one additional bonus…my urologist convinced me that if i was still smoking i wouldn’t heal very well and that was enough to scare the shirt out of me! On dec 8, 2023 i became a non smoker after getting this 50 years!! WTF?? Now a month later. Ive got a raspy throat from the intubation and ive got a chronic cough i never had before? But so far so good!! Trying to take better care of my last lil kidney… inwish u all much good luck no matter which course of treatment yountake!!
This is really really interesting! What happens if you have a CT with contrast and the mass does not illuminate, but then you have an ultrasound and in that it shows internal color flow in the mass? I can’t figure it out if it’s cyst or tumor.
I did have a 1cm complex cyst on my left kidney in 2020. In 2022 it has grown into a 2.9cm solid mass with vascularity (blood flow in the mass). I just had an ultrasound and was sent for an MRI with contrast immediately. I'm really concerned because I have a 1.3cm complex cyst in my right kidney that has doubled in size in the last 6 years. I've also had severe itching for the last two years and have seen multiple specialists for it but all couldn't find the cause. I just read last night that kidney disease causes itching. I used to get CT scans every year on my kidneys but it got delayed because of covid19. 😮
63 yo M, Critical care RN 28yrs. So I have a good base of knowledge. 3.8 cm mass, incidentally found. Though it was back pain. Vascular and invasive into sinus, central/posterior. Advised to have total nephrectomy. High risk of clots and bleeding due to myleoproliferative syndrome. Awaiting surgery now with MD I have known for many years and trust. Very good overview of Renal mass

Certain small tumors (enhancing masses suspicious for renal cell carcinoma) are very aggressive forms of cancer (ie- HLRCC) I’m in favor of knowing what’s there…small or not, incidental or not. Then treatment options can be determined.
We were in Australia our son sponcerd us for 1 year. 4 months there my husband landed up in the emergency room battling with breathing..the Drs there drained over 4 litres of liquid of the right lung..was tested and Drs then said my husband had lung and kidney cancer..We decided to come home ..it was a very great expense so we decided to rather come back home..was eventually cleared by Quantis for him to be able to fly home..He has also has a lump on the side of his ear..DRS here did a lung biopsy..said cancer started in the kidney..what they call round cell sarcoma. Also going to do 2 more scans..we are old age pensioners. At big hospital in JHB..Drs now talking about doing a ear biopsy. To see if has migrated to the ear..praying the left kidney is working well enough for them to remove the right kidney..
I have a pretty large mass on my left kidney (4x3) cm. I also have a 1.9 cm mass on my right kidney. My problem is this. My doctor wants to take out both of them at the same time and I am apprehensive about this since my creatinine is 1.5 and I don't know if doing both will affect both kidneys. I know the lager mass should come out and perhaps the 2nd one also, but at the same time? I am in the process of getting more opinions and I'd like to know yours. Thank you.
I’m not a doc, but I can tell you that the angiomyiolipoma is a benign mass/lesion that more than likely has some lipid content. So it is a mass, but it’s not malignant.

Would be useful to know % of small cysts or tumors cause pain? I have chronic left side pain mainly in back (left side) but also in front and just diagnosed with 2 "cysts" on my left kidney.
My 40 yr old daughter, wife and mother of 3, had a kidney stone and after imaging a kidney cyst was found but she was told it was benign. She had blood in her urine and a dull ache on her side. The images also showed cysts on her liver so after almost a year Dr said not worry abt the liver cyst but she shld see dr abt kidney cyst and for her to have it removed and not just biopsied. So she finally was able to find a dr that Took another image. The tumor is under the skin of the kidney and the tumor is located very close to the spine and just next to the lung. He suggested thermal oblation given the size of abt 2 1/2 cm. He said could be 50/50 being cancer. The tumor does have blood vessels going into it. Please give me your opinion. Thank you

My age is 70 years old, female, with high blood pressure. I was diagnosed with a lesion on my top, right, kidney on 5/15/2023. The location is inside and difficult to get to. The size was 2.1x1.8x1.5 cm. I wanted to wait and monitor before committing to surgery. After a recheck, CT Scan, on 1/5/2024, the mass was 2.5x2.4 cm, the doc said it grew 1/2 cm in 6 months. It isn't a cyst because the mass didn't take up the contrast. But the mass took up the contrast. I'm still not sure if I should do surgery. The doc is 95% certain its cancer and recommends surgery. Any suggestions? If it's a benign mass, why is it growing? Doesn't growth of any kind cause problems down the road?
I had robots do my surgery a month ago they took my entire kidney as the tumor was 6cm. Roughly half the size of the kidney!! Itnwas renal cell carcinoma. Wish u a lot of Luck.
Yes!! If discovered at 2mm=0.2 cm or 0.07874016 inches. At 2.5 years later it's now 48.9mm=4.89 cm or 1.925197 inches. It's growing! I would be concerned about it and get another opinion from a urological oncologist.
I have experienced to see a small blood clots whenever I urinate and I’ve noticed that when I wipe noticed a pinkish and reddish blood, and I was feeling some discomfort on my right side, and I just turn 50 yrs old and I decided to go to E.R just the other day and I was shock to hear that they found a complex cyst lesions 1.9 cm… and I immediately called my primary care to follow up and I am scared and hoping that it will not turn to cancer…

What do you mean 2CF out of 3 and 4? I have two "cysts" on my left kidney and some pain being told to wait 6 mos. for CT scan since just found on ultrasound.
@@DRthistle wow thats the same thing they told me wait 6 months to see if the cyst has grown bigger or stop growing...so it's a range between 1-4...3,4 are not good especially 4 is usually cancerous 3 can turn into cancer 4 they pull your kidney and you might have to go in dialysis so I'm at a 2 cf I guess it means it's ok for now but my doc is following it for 6 months if it approaches 3 then its starting a problem im trying to find a doc who will cut the cyst off my right kidney but so far so bad good luck bro...
@@DRthistle there's a bosniak scale they use to determine risk of malignancy. 1-4. 1 and 2 are simple cyst no biggy, 2F is watch and wait, 3 is possible cancer needs surgery and 4 is serious. Probably cancer.

My father was a smoker for forty years. He started when he was a teenager in high school in the early 1950s, and continued to smoke about a pack a day until he quit in 1995. For years he thought "You know? 1 smoked for forty years, and I got away with it !" No. No he didn't. In 2014, nineteen years after he had quit smoking, he started noticing that he was having trouble with wheezing and feeling like he was out of breath a lot. He was diagnosed with early stage COPD and renal mass, For the first year, he was able to get by with simply using rescue inhalers once in a while, but by late 2015 he needed supplemental oxygen. At first, he could get by on the lowest tank setting of 1 liter per minute, but as time went on he needed an Oxygen concentrator at home and he needed more and more oxygen. Last year (2020) he was up to the oxygen concentrator's highest setting of 5 liters per minute, even while just sitting down. By this time I had moved in with him to take care of him. Sometimes he would be gasping for air, and he would ask me "Son, is the machine on? I just can't get enough air" In December my father got COVID-19, and his condition worsened, our hearts melted every moment as we watched him gasp for breath,we were sure he would die any moment, by the time I started reading TH-cam comments,I stumbled upon a comment that said there is an old Chinese man that cures this ailment ,I quickly contacted him and ordered the herbs with my father's money because he wouldn't need it anymore cos he would die any moment,I received the herbs in two days and from that moment he used the herbs, he began to feel better and better, few weeks later, he was completely cured, I thank you for reading this story about my father's experience with COPD and renal mass, If you know someone who is a smoker, and you love them, please encourage them to quit. @reneewilliams1747 1.3 cm is still small enough to freeze, that option ends around 3cm. His came back benign with clean edges.

Certain small tumors (enhancing masses suspicious for renal cell carcinoma) are very aggressive forms of cancer (ie- HLRCC) I’m in favor of knowing what’s there…small or not, incidental or not. Then treatment options can be determined.
We were in Australia our son sponcerd us for 1 year. 4 months there my husband landed up in the emergency room battling with breathing..the Drs there drained over 4 litres of liquid of the right lung..was tested and Drs then said my husband had lung and kidney cancer..We decided to come home ..it was a very great expense so we decided to rather come back home..was eventually cleared by Quantis for him to be able to fly home..He has also has a lump on the side of his ear..DRS here did a lung biopsy..said cancer started in the kidney..what they call round cell sarcoma. Also going to do 2 more scans..we are old age pensioners. At big hospital in JHB..Drs now talking about doing a ear biopsy. To see if has migrated to the ear..praying the left kidney is working well enough for them to remove the right kidney..

I have a pretty large mass on my left kidney (4x3) cm. I also have a 1.9 cm mass on my right kidney. My problem is this. My doctor wants to take out both of them at the same time and I am apprehensive about this since my creatinine is 1.5 and I don't know if doing both will affect both kidneys. I know the lager mass should come out and perhaps the 2nd one also, but at the same time? I am in the process of getting more opinions and I'd like to know yours. Thank you.

I’m not a doc, but I can tell you that the angiomyiolipoma is a benign mass/lesion that more than likely has some lipid content. So it is a mass, but it’s not malignant.

My 40 yr old daughter, wife and mother of 3, had a kidney stone and after imaging a kidney cyst was found but she was told it was benign. She had blood in her urine and a dull ache on her side. The images also showed cysts on her liver so after almost a year Dr said not worry abt the liver cyst but she shld see dr abt kidney cyst and for her to have it removed and not just biopsied. So she finally was able to find a dr that Took another image. The tumor is under the skin of the kidney and the tumor is located very close to the spine and just next to the lung. He suggested thermal oblation given the size of abt 2 1/2 cm. He said could be 50/50 being cancer. The tumor does have blood vessels going into it. Please give me your opinion. Thank you

My age is 70 years old, female, with high blood pressure. I was diagnosed with a lesion on my top, right, kidney on 5/15/2023. The location is inside and difficult to get to. The size was 2.1x1.8x1.5 cm. I wanted to wait and monitor before committing to surgery. After a recheck, CT Scan, on 1/5/2024, the mass was 2.5x2.4 cm, the doc said it grew 1/2 cm in 6 months. It isn't a cyst because the mass didn't take up the contrast. But the mass took up the contrast. I'm still not sure if I should do surgery. The doc is 95% certain its cancer and recommends surgery. Any suggestions? If it's a benign mass, why is it growing? Doesn't growth of any kind cause problems down the road?
I had robots do my surgery a month ago they took my entire kidney as the tumor was 6cm. Roughly half the size of the kidney!! Itnwas renal cell carcinoma. Wish u a lot of

Yes!! If discovered at 2mm=0.2 cm or 0.07874016 inches. At 2.5 years later it's now 48.9mm=4.89 cm or 1.925197 inches. It's growing! I would be concerned about it and get another opinion from a urological oncologist.

I have experienced to see a small blood clots whenever I urinate and I’ve noticed that when I wipe noticed a pinkish and reddish blood, and I was feeling some discomfort on my right side, and I just turn 50 yrs old and I decided to go to E.R just the other day and I was shock to hear that they found a complex cyst lesions 1.9 cm… and I immediately called my primary care to follow up and I am scared and hoping that it will not turn to cancer…

I'm going through this right now with a cyst on my kidney I have a 2CF out of 3 and 4 had a MRI with the contrast I'm hoping it doesn't go to 3 or 4 which is cancerous why does this happen to patients? this is a great video...any advice don't wanna lose my kidney?
What do you mean 2CF out of 3 and 4? I have two "cysts" on my left kidney and some pain being told to wait 6 mos. for CT scan since just found on ultrasound.
@@DRthistle wow thats the same thing they told me wait 6 months to see if the cyst has grown bigger or stop growing...so it's a range between 1-4...3,4 are not good especially 4 is usually cancerous 3 can turn into cancer 4 they pull your kidney and you might have to go in dialysis so I'm at a 2 cf I guess it means it's ok for now but my doc is following it for 6 months if it approaches 3 then its starting a problem im trying to find a doc who will cut the cyst off my right kidney but so far so bad good luck bro...
@@DRthistle there's a bosniak scale they use to determine risk of malignancy. 1-4. 1 and 2 are simple cyst no biggy, 2F is watch and wait, 3 is possible cancer needs surgery and 4 is serious. Probably cancer.
Most cysts are benign. It’s the solid masses that are more troublesome.
My mri said the largest cyst they saw was at the mid right of my kidney of 2.5 cm what mean
My mom just turned 93 years old and has to get a biopsy tomorrow two different ER doctors has said that it looks like kidney cancer 😢

My father was a smoker for forty years. He started when he was a teenager in high school in the early 1950s, and continued to smoke about a pack a day until he quit in 1995. For years he thought "You know? 1 smoked for forty years, and I got away with it !" No. No he didn't. In 2014, nineteen years after he had quit smoking, he started noticing that he was having trouble with wheezing and feeling like he was out of breath a lot. He was diagnosed with early stage COPD and renal mass, For the first year, he was able to get by with simply using rescue inhalers once in a while, but by late 2015 he needed supplemental oxygen. At first, he could get by on the lowest tank setting of 1 liter per minute, but as time went on he needed an Oxygen concentrator at home and he needed more and more oxygen. Last year (2020) he was up to the oxygen concentrator's highest setting of 5 liters per minute, even while just sitting down. By this time I had moved in with him to take care of him. Sometimes he would be gasping for air, and he would ask me "Son, is the machine on? I just can't get enough air" In December my father got COVID-19, and his condition worsened, our hearts melted every moment as we watched him gasp for breath,we were sure he would die any moment, by the time I started reading TH-cam comments,I stumbled upon a comment that said there is an old Chinese man that cures this ailment ,I quickly contacted him and ordered the herbs with my father's money because he wouldn't need it anymore cos he would die any moment,I received the herbs in two days and from that moment he used the herbs, he began to feel better and better, few weeks later, he was completely cured, I thank you for reading this story about my father's experience with COPD and renal mass, If you know someone who is a smoker, and you love them, please encourage them to quit. anything under 4cm this is stage 1 i believe , i have a 2.4 mass its cancer they are not rushing around but they will remove the kidney in full 7cm is urgent i would suggest but i am no Dr jay
