      Soooo close to home! I started organizing our bedroom walk-in closet (maayyyybe 1/4 of the size of this) back in January….so, uhhh, it’s now September and feeling like I really need to pick that project up again. 🤣 Though in my defence, I completely emptied and reorganized all the kitchen cupboards since then, & have pulled apart my art room (uhhh, yeah…oops, turns out that was 2.5 months ago & still not put back together)…. I may have problems finishing projects.
      Evan and Katelyn, thanks for showing the real side of organizing, from the precarious piles and long delays, right down to the thick layer of dust on the suit jackets. Reminds me that ALL of my husband’s suits need to go to the cleaners. Having sat unused since March 2020 means none of them are in wearable condition and he could actually start needing them again at work.

      I know the feel. Granted my issues are disability related, but like I will managed to do some tidying (often going on a full day of relatively intense tidying) and then that's me out for the count for the next few months by which time its gone back to how it was.... feels like fighting a never ending battle. I tried to do the UFYH thing but its not "laziness" I'm battling its a combination of executive dysfunction and chronic fatigue (along with other stuff, those are just the bits which feel most relevant). I don't have the spoons to do a little every day.

    • @Zeldur
      @Zeldur 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update 1- I've started forcing myself to have the ability to actually organize, main thing being that you need furniture for the stuff to go in. Since I have a lot of wood in my room, having white furniture just sticks out. I remembered that contact paper exists so I found one that works, stuck it on one of the cabinets, I happened to be visiting a city with an Ikea so I grabbed an alex 9 drawer, currently putting the contact paper on that, and then I'll have space for my new stuff to go.
      I guess I should stop procrastinating and go back to applying stickers....

    Where I live there isnt much of build in closets like these walk in closets that seem to be everywhere in the usa and canada.
    They become a little more recent in modern houses but I always ask myself with these huge shelfes: What do you put in those?
    Like the hanging space seems practical but the rest you either have to fill with boxes or make these T-Shierts Piles of doom where you only wear the top five and if you try to get one from underneath it falls down. As someone with adhd I much prefer drawers closed theres no mess and when you open them you can see everything.
    Also these shelves seemed to be very deep (must be if they are the same depth as the clothing racks I assume) and that would only lead me to accidentially stuff random stuff in there and then you have stuff in the back you never see and therefore dont use or are aware of.

    • @TheRealAlpha2
      @TheRealAlpha2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that's kinda where organizing trays and fabric boxes come in for maximizing space usage, not to mention doing occasional sweeps to make sure you aren't hoarding.

    • @MichelleSinTO
      @MichelleSinTO 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The shelves also work well for spare blankets, towels, sheets, pillows. Though in our condo, shelves like that would be filled with Kleenex, toilet paper, laundry pods, dishwasher tabs…all the “bulk buy” staples from Costco!

    • @cruelaz
      @cruelaz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichelleSinTO I get that you can fill all this but especially for two people I don't even know if I would want to have so much stuff. haha my own room is the same size probably. we have closets here aswell just not common build ins and that is a whole room with an island in the middle the amount of space you have for such things is just always bewildering to me

    ouu what you guys did with your clothes was somewhat similar to the "Kondo" method. There is a whole netflix show by Marie Kondo on how to organize and go through your clothes, and my family does it each year. To dumb it down, all you do is throw all of your clothes in a big pile, go through them and only keep the ones that "spark joy". It actually helps a lot with my constantly stuffed closet, so I recommend it a lot!

    I Love that closet!! I just finished watching another channel I sub to, an ad popped up (I was only listening at the time, not watching) and I hear a familiar voice, and then I heard the name joob, it was an ad for petsmart. Evan & Katelyn and of course Joob, did awesome in the ad! Great job 👏

    LOVE the noodles in the boots! I figured out that hack a year ago. Hated my costume boots flopping over and had a cut up pool noodle for a failed project. Was about to throw them away before I had the idea!

    I’ve done the pool noodle hack for boots before. I’ve even used toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls or various stuff to hold up some of my boots. And I have some tall 6 inch boots. As well as five inch and smaller. Someday I’ll be able store all my shoes how O want. But I’m in a tiny apartment with 30 plus pairs of shoes. Getting rid of at least 3-5 pairs to make it easier on myself. And also as I could use the not bursting at the seams kinda moment in here. If I ever get to have a closet like u guys I will die of joy and come back and organize all my tall shoes into one big ol shelf. But not too tall! Bc I am very short. And I cant reach too high up. I’ll put my least work but still worn shoes higher up than my most worn shoes however.

    Taking forever just to organize a closet...sounds about right ha ha! I think the only closet organizing I've done around the house was when I remodeled the closets...but then I'm really just moving the clutter around :) Thanks for sharing! I always appreciate the bits of humor you guys include. And the idea about putting stuff in the way so that you get mad enough to deal with it is genius!
