I started planting most of my brassicas and root plants in October! I planted cabbage, broccoli, collards, mustard greens, bok choy, carrots, beets, cucumbers, onions, snow peas.My collards and Mustard greens are plenty harvesting and giving much away!!! Also my bok choy is ready to harvest ,👏👏👏
I plant my tomatoes in the ground in the end of September and beginning of October. Right now they are about seven feet tall! I’m in zone 10b in Southwest Florida. My cucumbers are kicking butt and my eggplants are absolutely insane. Broccoli and cauliflower are looking great and my cabbage is doing great. Carrots are just starting to come up. Onions are doing ok and I have three garlic sprouts. My shallots look great.
Awesome advice!!! I've also just learned about banana peel water. I have saved some old Landry detergent tubs (washed out really well), put rain water or water that's not treated, cut up your banana peels as you eat them and add them into the water. After a couple of weeks, it's the best fertilize for the root crops or anything that like potassium. ❤ some people just use buckets with lids... I've learned so much from your videos. THANKS ❤️ 👋🎄🎄
I'm in my 2nd year gardener. I still use my moisture meter every time i water because 1st year nearly kill tomatillos and poblano. And some plants like more water such as cucumbers! 😎
Curious if you can share your experience with larger pests in the garden. Specifically rodents, deer, and armadillo. Do you have any issues with these guys? Especially rats that might be attracted to your fruit crops and your compost pile....etc. Thanks!!!!
I have a pretty good fence so I don’t get deer or armadillos but I do get voles, squirrels and rats. My best defense for these is my little terrier Chloe. She loves to chase them but the is too slow to actually catch them. I also spread my hair from my hairbrush and my dogs brush throughout the garden and that keeps them at bay pretty well
I’m just south of the skyway and having to give mine a lot of water to keep it happy. I’m growing in a 27 gallon pot. I have been and will again be pruning it in late January. It bounces right back and gives me multiple harvests a year.
Awesome video and advice! I’m baffled about the watering though and hoping you (or someone who has worked this out already) can help. I put my 4x8 raised bed in the middle of my backyard because it gets the most AM sun. How do I put in drip irrigation and still have the sprinklers for the surrounding lawn?
I actually called a sprinkler company to come out and run a line from one of my sprinklers into my raised beds underground. It’s a flexible tube that I attach drip irrigation to. Another option is running a long hose (I like the zero gravity brand)
I get free old pots etc on trash day. Old suitcases make excellent beds, with wheels and handles so they can be moved. Just cut the lids off. Then you can joke that your plants like to travel 🤠

That’s an awesome way to feed the soil

I think I’ll always use a meter. You can’t go wrong!
This video is so helpful. I'm in month 7 of growing for the first time and timing has been the sticky spot. This was so informative! Thank you!
You’re on your way! Happy gardening!
Good info thank you.

Thank you for this great information and explanation 😊
I’m happy you enjoyed it!
Excellent advice. I’ve only been gardening a couple years but have learned a few of these lessons too. 😊
Gardening is all about trial and error!
Very nice video a lot to learn ❤🤗
Thanks for watching!
In Tampa bay. My Barbados cherry looks ROUGH. Praying it comes back
I killed mine. Just couldn’t get the hang of it. I suspect it wanted more sun than I was giving it.

Cherry grows very good and couple time in season. They like acidic soil like blueberries

Haha! That's such a clever idea!
