I am a former seed addict. I won't let myself buy them anymore - well, maybe a packet here & there. I've been planting old seeds. Last year, I planted zinnia seeds from 2014. They were large & lovely! I saved the seed heads so I'll have them for next year. Not all old seeds germinate, but it's fun to see what happens.
I used up all my really old seeds this year. Now my seeds only go back 5 years max. I'm trying to make sure they are all used before they are 10 years old because I can't keep storing them and have room for new stuff

We got our baker creek catalog a few weeks ago. It definitely reminds me of the good old days of going through the sears catalog and circling your Christmas list. And yeah, the beauty of NC, it was 19 degrees last week, 70's the last few days and 19 degrees again this weekend.

Seed addicts unite!!😂😂 I started gardening 2 years ago and I have more seed packets than I care to admit. I live in the southern part of the country so we just got frost and it killed most things but that's ok, in 60 days it's planting season again!
We got rabbits and they’re the best addition to our yard ever! Great for the garden for direct composting manure, they eat all the weeds I pull, and I sell the babies to cover the cost of feed for the year.

Yes, seed addiction is real. Lol I have multiple boxes of seeds and still ordered more for 2025. I definitely agree to order early, I missed a pepper last year for paprika, took me a year to find it again. I love baker's creek, but I also order from The rusted Gardener, MI Gardener, Lazy dog farm's, seeds for generations, Hoss and Johnny Seeds. All great companies
Must confess, me also! I live in the low AZ desert and My veggies are finally giving me harvests! Planted many seeds and have more to go! I have so many old seeds and loose seeds sitting in the plastic bin. I live on an acre so I intend to throw them all into a big bed and see what happens! I am working on getting organized. I ordered seeds to plant now AND seeds to plant in June next year!
I buy seeds when I want to grow something new. Otherwise I try to keep seeds from one plant I choose to let go to flower. Helps stabilize the plant for the environment. Sometimes I forget or it’s just cheap to buy new. Wish I knew more people around me who would trade seeds.

I collect seed packets 😊 I’ve enough seeds to last my lifetime and probably that of my young adult kids 😂 I have a true and long winter and shortish growing season here in southern Maine, but I love to grow things!
I’ve stocked up and guess what? All the adult kids are getting seed packets and garden books in their Christmas baskets. I absolutely love Luke from MIGardener, fabulous germination and dang you can’t beat $2.00 seed packets. Everyone have a safe and wonderful Christmas.

My senior center has a gardening group. They set up a small chest of drawers. Anyone can place seeds in the drawers and take out seeds free. They are in envelopes and ziplock bags. Me, I already have too many of my own seeds that I saved. Like lettuce, basil, mustard, etc.
Seed hauls are my fav. Just ordered all of mine. All the different kinds of basil! I never thought of a trap crop for squash. Vine borers get my pumpkins each year. I would love a review on how all of the seeds grow for you. The summer stops a lot of my production in the garden.
@AmandaJbeauty Summer is a killer for me also here in Zone 9a, just north of Houston. For the SVBs I also use moth ball water to help combat them, i have a couple videos on this subject. It might seem weird, but it does work, to a point.
I just found your channel !!! If you are looking for a sunflower, try Tithonia ( mexican sunflower.) I have been growing them for years. Last year it grew over 12 ft tall and was covered with zinnia like flowers, from top to bottom, and the bees and butterflies love it. Thanks for sharing.
I started growing vegetable plants, in 2020 and started saving seeds in 2021, and now I have a Butternut that has stored for over a year. And I have a tomato plant seeds that will live thru a light frost, and are very drought tolerant.
Man to say the least!!! 😂 I caught the dollar store changing seasons bought all the seeds they had left for .01 a pack 500+ and haven’t even went through them yet.😂 this video made me think about them. I ordered a few seeds already, but have many more circled in the Baker Creek catalog that I need to order. Still need to find horse radish roots (maybe buy organic from grocery store to grow?), and pepper corn plants(sounds silly...not sure a plant will grow from a dried peppercorn?). I've ordered twice since October...total over $300...But let me tell you, my seed-crazy runs extremely deep... I just did a few small orders yesterday, im going to try to grow a wider variety of peppers this year !! still trying to find the right tomatoes for my area ! I'm trying hard not to let my seed collection get out of hand!
I love growing my own food! I have alot of seeds too. Last year I germinated a whole bunch and lost about half of my seedlings while hardening them off. I think it was the humidity and bugs combined. I live in Georgia. Our weather is unpredictable and goes back and forth. The worst cold months are usually January and February. What state do you live in? It was warm here yesterday but we have had 2 or 3 freezes which killed my tomato plants. I was getting ripe tomatoes through November and had a few other varieties that were close to fruiting but then those were killed by the freeze too. I was so bummed because I wanted some big ones and I planted those last. This time I will be planting the large varieties first. I am also on to stat planting Microdwarfs indoors so I can have tomatoes in the winter.
@IAMGiftbearer I'm in Zone 9a, just north of Houston, TX. Hardening off is a process, i learned the hard way that you definitely can't rush it. Hopefully 2025 will be a strong year for your tomato game🙏🤗

I went through my seeds and got rid of all the ones I didn’t like. I control myself to one tote about the size of a shoe box for my veggies. I have a very small yard. I decided to do my favorites plus I try a couple new ones every year plus a new tomato variety each year plus my three favorites.
I get seeds from baker creek, hoss, lazy dog farm, see right seeds and Johnny seeds. Hoss and lazy dog are based on Georgia so hoping they grow well for me since that's where I live. I'm excited to grow jedi peppers and rebel star fighter tomatos. I'm a star wars need and I had to try these. I debated on the frodo pepper but decided to pass for this year. I'm doing hot peppers for the first time next year now that I learned more about pepper growing from the pepper geeks and was successful this past year. Hoping to b focus more on my tomatos this year and try eggplant and okra for the first time along with popcorn.

I've been testing my seeds for germination and tossing the dead ones, organizing the good ones in smaller zip bags to save space. Haven't bought any this year cause I still haven't got through all last years from West Coast seeds. Would love to find the rampacoty? Zucchini. Not really resting from gardening. Just harvested some herbs for my breakfast😊. Indoor gardening is in Trial mode right now.
So many comments, I know I won’t remember everything I wanted to say. That chocolate pepper looks cool, I’ve never grown a gourd before and man wait until you grow those jelly melons. Maybe it just me, but they remind me of grenades. I’ve often want to throw one at Chuck, but since my aim is bad and they are so spiky, I’ve haven’t done it (yet). 🤣
My onions didn’t come up so I ordered plants. Should have checked again because all 5 types came up 😂 I have onions for days. I love everything gardening. I have 6 cases and 4 three gallon buckets full of seeds. It’s NOT an addiction. No it’s really not. 😊

I've been testing my seeds for germination and tossing the dead ones, organizing the good ones in smaller zip bags to save space. Haven't bought any this year cause I still haven't got through all last years from West Coast seeds. Would love to find the rampacoty? Zucchini. Not really resting from gardening. Just harvested some herbs for my breakfast😊. Indoor gardening is in Trial mode right now.

ive wanted to start a garden for 2 years now... every year i go through all of the catalogs and make lists and guy some... lol i also have problems
So many comments, I know I won’t remember everything I wanted to say. That chocolate pepper looks cool, I’ve never grown a gourd before and man wait until you grow those jelly melons. Maybe it just me, but they remind me of grenades. I’ve often want to throw one at Chuck, but since my aim is bad and they are so spiky, I’ve haven’t done it (yet). 🤣

@lisafahrner9917 I got mine at Micheal's when they had a sale. But they're on Amazon also. These are sold for storing pictures, but seeds store great in them also. 🤣🤣

I collect seed packets 😊 I’ve enough seeds to last my lifetime and probably that of my young adult kids 😂 I have a true and long winter and shortish growing season here in southern Maine, but I love to grow things!
