@@nachoisme LOL I used to do the same thing but with a sidearm when I was going fishing or whatever you didn't have to have a carry permit as long as you were hunting so I say I was hunting and fishing simultaneously 😅
Just use it as a knife. It cuts pretty well.

For the price I just couldn't resist picking one of these up. I brushed the flats on mine for a two-tone look (and to get rid of the billboard branding) and then stonewashed the whole blade and hardware to knock down the shine. Turned out pretty cool. I'm really glad DLT released these in numbers to supply the demand so that these knives can get out in the wild and be used as intended, rather than flipped on the bay for prices their not worth.

I purchased two original USA made 4 Max knives when they were finally released. I eventually sold both as I couldn't justify carrying such a beautiful & expensive piece of engineering. This New economy variant is right on point for my needs!!
Hands down my favorite EDC knife. I currently own 4 different variations of this knife. Even after I gave one to my brother.
I just ordered this exact knife for a replacement for my very well loved Recon 1 Tanto. I can't wait to get my hands on this beast and start carrying it for work and everything else!!!!

My buddy, who I work with, carries a 4 Max Scout in his right front pocket and a SR1 Lite tanto in his carpenter pocket all day everyday. His belt must be screaming. Gotta love it.
That is a monster. personally, the .75 AR which I love is very close to my limit. Congrats on 50K and keep growing :)
Andrew Demko knows what he is doing. He does great things with heavy duty knives. I know almost everyone here knows that but I love how he can take what is for all terms a survival knife and turn it into a folder.
Coming here to watch this review because these 4 max's are now regularly $50. An easy trigger pull at that price, based on your rec!
I installed a Snaggletooth knife opener on mine and bent the pocket clip to loosen the grip a bit. It’s now instant deploy out the pocket and I absolutely love it.
Very cool knife, can't wait to get my hands on one. Definately a great outdoors knife. It will be subject to great abuse by my hand. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
I bought an original Cold Steel 4Max Scout. I later gave it to my wife's cousin. But when I decided to limit the amount of knives for myself, I bought another one. It is crazy to have and hold this beast of a folder! But I had to have one again, so I bought it again. I also own a SR1 Lite Tanto, so I am use to having bricks in my pocket. But I like these bricks because when stuff happens, these bad boys are ready to rock and ruin! I like the color scheme of this knife, but I would prefer the black blade with the black handle (showpiece) and the satin blade with the green handle (workhorse). But that is just me.
Hi MC, try backing the pocket clip screew out and then reseat it and see if it sets into the backspacer to eliminate that gap.

I know this is an old vid, but seriously Cold Steel can release a "tactical brick" and that thing would be razor sharp.
I got the xl voyager drop point and it scratches that itch
I've used the JB weld trick to add some slip under the clip to prevent pant blow out. Gonna do the same with this guy.

Ordered one 2 days ago from DLT. This is mid size cold steel knife, but the cross section, IS much more robust than ANY other they make.
my main edc rotation is either my 4max scout on the stonewashed finish and black handles and my sr1 lite in clip point and i love them

The largest folder I have is a Recon 1 with s35v steel and I only bought it for hiking and camping and in case a Mountain Lion jumps on my back and bites my neck which actually happened to a woman where I go hiking-she didn’t make it. They built a turnout on the trail with a memorial bench and plaque in her honor, It’s near the town of Cool in NorCal. I know, I know, a Recon 1 probably wouldn’t help in that situation, but it gives me moral support anyway.
Mine is perfectly centered without being mushy. This is my fourth 4Max (original USA 4Max, 4Max Scout, 4Max Elite and this one) and don't ask me what I'm going to do with them. Thanks for the review.
Watching this on my 4 Max Scout and couldn't be more satisfied with it.
I am and have been a long time supporter of CS. The company continues to have an excellent selection of knives for any budget. I have always been a big knife guy and this is a prime example of more is better. This knife definitely fits in the survival category. I would trust my life on this locking mechanism. If you want something discreet then get an opinel no.8.
I love cold steel torture test vids , that thing is a tank ! I really like the sr1 with a tanto blade , I can’t get on board with the 4max the design might be functional but it needs some help in the looks department.

The 4-Max Scout is certainly one of Cold Steel's best knives. Watch Jimislash's video of him chopping into wooden pallets & it's still shaving sharp at the end with no play in the lock. Probably way overkill for most tasks but it's nice to know what it is capable of.

I just ordered this and I'm sure I won't be disappointed. 4-Max Elite normally costs around 500 euros here in Finland, so the decision between Scout (130 euros) and Elite was easy.
Which would you prefer? This one or the AD10
Crazy the problems with that one. I have a regular 4max scout and 2 of the dlt renditions and none of them have those issues. I work maintenance and grounds and use either the regular or Dlt everyday. Works for chopping limbs that get in the way as well. Lol

All Demko/Cold Steel knives use a T10 pivot and T6 screws. Just wipe off the blade. If you have lots of oils in your hands use edci or some oil to wipe down the blade with and it's good as new. Only your knife with that coating looks like that, everyone else wipes it off just fine.
I have read somewhere that this version has a thinner blade than the standard one. Is that true?
Got my dlt exclusive 4max scout last week! Yeah yeah! I got it with my ad-15. You're absolutely right about the price of the ad15 going up to much, last year it was right around the price that the lite is now.. stupid
I wish they smoothed down the texture under the clip. Some day I’ll sand my down and maybe carry it but for now it sits on the shelf.
I sanded mine about an inch whide where the bend of the clip rests and now I edc it everyday

is anyone else having the problem with the SR-1 Lite that the blade has lots of play? in order to get rid of that I have to tighten the pivot screw so much that the blade doesn't move anymore at all. bummer.

My 4 Max has a slight side to side blade play... It's not a problem, just unexpected.

I've actually done this basic scenario twice, once with a Spyderco K2 and just the other day with a Maxace Mammoth, both times while at work.
Neither person got the reference, and both likely thought I was an even bigger maniac than they already know I am.

Trust me you don't want this knife being super deep carry, it's hard enough to get out of your pocket as it is haha. That pocket clip is like a freaking clamp, it trashed my jean pockets within 1 day.

As far as weight, if you carry a 6 inch iPhone with a battery pack it weighs about the same. I don’t notice the weight when it’s clipped in my cargo shorts, because I’ve carried an iPhone with battery pack for years.
This knife is a perfect carry for riding, you don’t need to take off your gloves to operate it. Or to clip into a hiking pack or bug out bag. My two cents.
