I worked as a chef in Australia for years and ended up as one of the highest paid . I'm not saying this to brag but to qualify me to comment . It's obvious to me that you know what you are talking about . What I don't understand is why don't places know they are taking good food and turning it into c..p . The main issue always seems to be with the oil/fat . Places often think they are saving money by not replacing / changing the oil as often as necessary . What they don't realise is that they are in fact using more as it becomes ' dead ' and soaks in to the food . I go to the Norfolk Broads quite often and all three fish and chip shops there rated only two out of ten . It's really good to listen to people like yourselves as I know if you say a place is good it will be .
Hi John, we agree with everything you said & you clearly know what your talking about 👍🏻 In lots of cases we feel that these places are just playing to the tourists, who are just going to pay up, eat and never return again so they are not bothered …. I can’t understand why, if you’ve got a business in a great location you wouldn’t want to provide a fabulous quality & quantity meal … they have no integrity at all Thank you very much for your kind words & support 🙏🏻 really does mean a lot ❤️❤️
I’m sorry I mentioned that place. We went a few years back and it was really nice. It’s gone right down the nick by the looks of it. Like you say the tourists need better food than that muck.

This should be called “The dead chips episode”. You guys crack me up. You say it as you see it which I love. I also agree with Colin. Those chips were like “scraps”. Or as my dad says “warm ups at best”. The best thing about the fish and chips “was the pickles”. That made me laugh. I also want to know who legitimately calls themselves “best anything in the world”?!!😂. It’s like a self proclaimed, deluded title!! I’m with your initial reaction Tracy it wasn’t worth marking. I think a 3 was being kind. Even if the inside of the fish was decent the outside wasn’t which kind of defeats its own purpose. The one bonus is the beautiful location. The dock on any day has the power to transport the mind to another place. I guess the lesson though is that you should never judge a book by it’s cover. I’d rather had a quality breakfast in a greasy spoon any day of the week. From Asda, to cafes, to pubs,to street food, to home baking, to restaurants, you guys really do a brilliant variation of food experience. Keep ‘em coming!! ❤️🙏.x

I knew it was going to be bad. The same company opened one down by Brunswick train station not far from Otterspool prom and it was vile (they closed it and a new company took over called Portland - much better but prices are a rip off , similar to Dockland)

For £15 I'd expect it served on a proper plate and proper cutlery, not served in a cardboard box.You pay £15 in a decent restaurant for fish chips and peas.Those chips were appalling.

What a shame, Tracy and Colin. It's a literal tourist trap. It seems all you need to do to be "world famous" is to open your restaurant in a touristy area and you're set, never mind the quality of what you're serving! Maybe they're world famous for serving the worst fish and chips? 😂 Have a good weeks, guys! ❤

Hi Tracy and Colin. This food will indeed give visitors to your city a very poor impression- food wise. It's ashamed that the Albert dock serves up such mediocre fish and chips but I guess they have a captive audience who, as you say will only visit once. Both chips (scant portion) and fish looked very greasy, although you thought that the fish tasted ok. The gravy, £1:95? That's a licence to print money if I ever saw one. Sorry this was a poor meal for you but it was my kind of review and I really enjoyed it. Btw. the most expensive pickled onions you have ever had. Thanks for this vid folks. 😎 Best. Johnny.

Yea in Scotland you can have pickled onions or pickled eggs with your fish & chips, usually a lot bigger than the ones yous had & you do have to ask for them, they dont give you them with your meal, they should actually be ashamed of themselves putting out food like that, & the price was disgusting along with the food, the chips looked ghastly 😱 & the fish wasn't any better 🤢 it really must have been bad as Colin usually eats it even if they've not been too keen on it, & thats the first time iv saw him leaving food & looking disgusted on his way out, they certainty are ripping folk of, & that in itself is disgusting, shame on whoever owns this.. place! 😡...thanks for review, its a shame you get this kind of place now & then, but there's one in most places, its good you say to people body swerve this place, keep your money for something better...much love guys..S...xxx ❤️
Hi Senga, oh we didn’t know that … Colin would’ve been asking for pickled onions with our Dundee chippy 😂😂😂 This was awful … as you said and seen by our faces we were so disappointed 😢 and also Colin usually finishes it even if it is awful but this was just yuck 🤑🤑 … I felt a bit queasy on the walk back … because of the grease … I felt bad for the people waiting on their food oh & the staff …🙄🙄 that’s another story !!
