Jim, the video was very helpful in determining if my starter was good or bad. Bypassing the solenoid worked, starter is good. Just have to find and buy a new one. Thanks....
Mine won’t start when you press the button but it doesn’t make that ticking noise and it starts when you put a screwdriver on the solenoid. Would it still be the solenoid?
I should have mention in the beginning Great video watch it the second time to find out the two fuses on this solenoid, one fuse is a spare. When working on my 2004 kodiak another solenoid for my winch as been giving some issues, decided to change this one. Location of this solenoid at the back of the ATV forgot to disconnect the battery terminal sparks was created, once everything was completed and connected it would not start. Check out the fuse on the ATV start solenoid one was blown used the spare, perfect everything working again.
I’m 12 and I changed it by myself thanks to you
Good for you. Your welcome.
