  • When I needed to work on my ATV I couldn't find any decent videos on the removal and rebuild of the carburetor on a Yamaha 2005 Kodiak 400 so I decided to make one. Send me a comment if it helped you out.
    Oct 2018 - Just an update, I just removed the carb again for cleaning and since I just did it a few years ago all it needed was a good cleaning - no parts were needed.

    This is the first time I removed a carburator, i had no idea what i was doing. This video was spot on. I was able to replace the carburator and it started right up after 15y of being forgotten in a shed.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for a great video....We replaced 2 carburetors....one on a 2005 and another on a 2001.....Very helpful, and made the job easy!

    Thank you very much for this! You're the only person showing how to disconnect the throttle and choke...new to 4wheelers, but not turning wrenches, but that's something i havent done yet. Ghani's again, cheers mate!

    Thank you very much! I am literally the dumbest when it comes to engines and this really helped me out. The one suggestion I would have is to add a little section at the end of what goes where when you put it back together!! I ended up switching the gas intake and air flow hoses (yes I'm that illiterate!)... between all the diagrams available on the internet I figure out that the air flow is on top and fuel in is just above the bowl on the bottom of the carb. Just in case someone else is dumb enough like me...
    Thanks again!

      Thanks for the comments, again if every aspect of the job was covered in the video it would be over an hour long and no one would watch it (with you being the exception). The reassembly is pretty much the reverse of the tear down.

    Tracy Hanes, I have '06 Bruin 350 I bought new. Runs great but now have small gas leak. It is NOT from the overflow tube. Even turning gas valve off and running it to empty, then pushing into shop I get some gas leaking either from the gas input hose nipple or perhaps the bowl O ring. Is that hose nipple just pressed fit or have an O ring? I'll try checking bowl screws w off-set screwdriver and hope I hear from you before I have to dive in deeper. Tx

    Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. After I finished rebuilding the carburetor the bike was running fine until I get it over about 10 mph then if started cutting out and running rough. Any idea on what I did wrong? Thanks!

      +Allen Aker I have the same problem after installing a brand new one. After seeing gas spray into the air box during full throttle, I figured it was the air fuel mix. Even set to all the way lean, it still does it. Any ideas?

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Allen Aker There's a flow restriction somewhere, could be one of the jets needs tweaking.

    • @RedEyeReviewer
      @RedEyeReviewer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tracy Hanes Are the jets inside agjustable if I take the bottom off? I thought they were just interchangeable.

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +RedEyeReviewer I wonder if it's the float bowl, is there any fuel leaking?

    • @RedEyeReviewer
      @RedEyeReviewer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tracy Hanes The carb is brand new. If I take the air filter out, under full throttle gas spray a little into the box. This is with the air/fuel fix set to lean too. Its runs great until full throttle then bogs down. Its even worse when in gear riding it.

    Where abouts did you get that carb rebuild kit sir? A good quality kit is hard to come by these days, and I see that one is made in Japan so it should be a good one.

    2006 Yamaha 250 Bruin. Never used or properly stored. Just filled tank and turned ignition in October 2017. Except for rat-ta-tat of starter adjacent to seat, nothing. then saw gas leaking out bottom of motor. Likely carburetor bowl overflow. Not mechanically inclined, but willing to try just replacing carburetor. Great video. Any suggestions?

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, your float bowl is stuck open. You might be able to gently tap it a few times , more than likely you will have to take it apart.

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your float is probably sticking. You need to rebuild carb.

  • @misterpolytech
    @misterpolytech 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it possible to remove the float bowl drain screw w/ out removing the carb., if you use a really short phillips head screw driver?
    Or is there no way to access the drain screw on the bottom of the float bowl w/ the carb. on the machine?
    Old gas was in the carb. for 3 years, although it was non-ethanol fuel, I am told by previous owner....!
    Tank was drained before being put into storage, he says.
    Want to flush/drain the floatbowl if possible before starting the machine; otherwise I will just go ahead & pull the carb. & rebuild it-...?

    • @misterpolytech
      @misterpolytech 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Screw it...I'll just pull the float bowl, & see if theres lacquer or gunk in there...

    I have a yamaha bruin 350 that ain't idle unless the choke is on. Do you think I should rebuild the carb?

    • @jsmcguireIII
      @jsmcguireIII 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      try adjustiing the low speed needle first - but a rebuild is pretty easy and you can inspect and clean other things up while its pulled apart.

    • @padraiggalvin2807
      @padraiggalvin2807 4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @kansascityshuffle8526
    @kansascityshuffle8526 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there any way to adjust pilot screw on the machine? Got the quad to work but no idle. Is the pilot jet itself adjustable? Or is it supposed to be fully seated?

    You did not show how to remove the throttle cable end. Showed it in place, then it was removed. How do you get it out before cable removal?

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took the tension off the cable and turned it so it came out with very little problem, it is almost impossible to show everything that is done in a video, it would be 2 hours long. You need to buy the manual.

  • @Vulcankrypto21

    Don't understand how you get the throttle cable pin out

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to get slack in the cable first, then pull the cable off the curve and use the slack to turn the cable 120 degrees so you can remove the pin and cable end at the same time.
