Great review my man! Good to see LG get some love. Was on the fence, about upgrading from my lg thinq 8. Almost went back to samsung until this review.
Will definitely be a sub $1000 category. It is a very good phone in its own right and personally think that if they market it that way and not as a this or that killer than it will sell well.
I own a the top flagships USD market and Asian Domestic Market. My LG V50 keeps my SIM card in it longr. Over my Note 10 plus, iPhone XS Max, Huawei P30 Pro. You have have to deep dive into the "Pro" features in the camera to appreciate how awesome LG is. Not to mention of you are an audiophile like myself and have high fi headphones like me, then you would appreciate the amazing ESS quad DAC tuned by Meridian. I have an S20 Ultra on order I can't wait to get this V60. If they price it between $750-$850 then it's a winner. 2k screens, 120hz, UFi 3.1 none of that really matters.
Speaking from my experience with the V30, I believe the quad dac/amp module only kicks in when the HP jack is used. That said, it does an EXCELLENT job of transmitting hi-res FLAC files in LDAC to my Sony WH1000XM3 and Audeze Mobius wireless headphones. When I upgrade to V60, I'm sure I'll keep my V30 just to use as a portable DAP. It does a decent job with most headphones, and it's mind blowing with the LINSOUL KZ ZS10 PRO IEM's.
If using Bluetooth, the DAC in the phone is not involved because it's a digital transmission to the headphones. The headphones would have their own DAC to use.
my thoughts? *looks down at the lg v60 in his hands* i bought it, dual screen productivity is insanely good. i especially enjoy the ability to one touch send whats on one screen to a messenger app in the other.
I'm switching from Samsung to LG because of the headphone jack as I use a Rode microphone for my VLOGs. I currently use a Samsung S8 which is a good phone. Samsung drove me to LG. I also use wired headset for music listening and use bluetooth headphones for taking calls. The V60 ticks all the boxes.
Great video as always Jonathan. What is the refresh rate on the V60? Did you say and I just missed it? Phone seems to have a lot of promising features but I've already preordered my S20 Ultra.
Can't wait for the V60. I've been enjoying my V30 a few years now, and have held off on upgrading because IMHO there was nothing offered in the market that offered anything but small incremental improvements that was worth upgrading to. The headphone jack IS a BIG deal to me, and I use it a LOT! WHEN I upgrade I'll probably keep my V30 just to use as a dedicated DAP.
Once you get the V60 in the office, could you test if it actually supports dual-frequency GPS? The SD865 hardware does support it, but it's not listed in the phone's official specs. How to test - install the app GPSTest, view the list of satellites visible, and see if only L1 or both L1 and L5 signals are visible. Thank you so much!
Nice vid and good mini review. I'll be looking to upgrade my V40 (had since launch) in a couple of months and I think the V60 might be the way the go. Besides, I've been spoiled by the DAC.
Sony and LG will do well because of their headphone jack value and design. However they do not have the contracts with the major carriers and best buy target etc, that always feature apple and samsung in ads displays, and special in store stores. youtube reviewers always focus on the bad things on LG phones, if they review them at all while doing a 100 positive reviews on samsung and apple. samse with news outlets. it seems like the media just gives free ads to apple and samsung while ignoring lg/Sony, even though many of the innovations in phones started with those two. Even the first all touch smartphone was an LG Phone not the iphone, but most of media is clueless to that. Hopefully Sony and LG make some traction this year. At $999, they offer a lot more that the 5.8" 4g 64gb/4gb iphone, or the Samsung S20 in many ways, in size, and feature set. We will see.
Currently wwtchung on my v60. I love it! Coming from the note 9 and i own the galaxy fold as well. The fold I dont use near as much its big and bulky but my v60 is great for the price and is very impressive
Hi, can you help me with HDR10+ vireo on this device ? When I am recording video in HDR10+, the colors are OK, but when I play them from the gallery then, its yellowed. The colors are weird. I dont know why. ( sorry for my English ). Thanks for help.
It's a better value no doubt, with the same performance, it misses the tele, and 108MP sensor, and quad hd, but it gives you a quad dac/amp, headphone jack, 4 mics, and yea a full second screen when you need it and one if you do not, for about $400 les.
Hey cousin...thanks for the interesting review.just wanted to check with you though...our version in rsa is a 3rear camera...64std...13uwide...and..5dsensor.also with a 10mp in front.you said it only had 2rear camera's?
Still using V20 for my video using manual mode. Let's see how my new S20 Ultra can replace my old V20 because Samsung has bring back pro mode (manual mode) which dissapear in S10+.
I’m a huge Note Fan because of the stylus pen. I was excited to see the Samsung flip which allows me to have two screens. This LG is intriguing because it’s a work horse like the note, and a duel phone like the flip...... I just need a stylus pen. As a graphic designer that’d benefit. This seems more for gamers
I love both Samsung and LG phones, for different reasons and have had a number of phones from both companies. The LG phones have always had significantly better battery optimization even if they had smaller batteries. They are much more efficient phones for whatever reason.
@@herrobp yea that's True Bro ,LG always better in all the sides , and also the amazing Features and quality in Manual photo mode and Video Mode ,so Professional and very high Video and Photos Qualities
@@brahilmrag5834 You're wrong, sorry. The S20 Ultra lasts longer than 99% of all phones when on 60hz, but since it has basically the same battery as the V60, who knows, it'll last basically the same since Samsung has pushed a lot of optimization. Photo quality is probs better on the S20 Ultra as well, mainly because of hardware and even software. I'm not saying the V60 is bad, and it's far from that and is really good for its value, but the S20 just got way beefier specs.
Love the channel I'm a tech lover and sneaker lover Just started following you about 4 months ago love when I catch a vid from you. Do you have a sneaker channel
I admire LG for staying in the business and staying true to itself. Its a shame they closed in Philippines and some other countries coz of poor sales. Its like a novelty and fan products nowadays here.
I have had all the LG V series phones. They have always been so underrated! They have so much to offer. Just because Samsung is not printed in it, it will probably be ignored. Such a shame. They are all amazing phones, the V series, and always overlooked! Hopefully this one is not. Just bought it. Never thought I would like a phone more than my LGV 40..... But this one does it!
The V60 seems really well balanced in terms of price to performance. I'll hold on to my LG G7 for now though since it's basically still new cuz I use a case and its still super fast. I'll upgrade when this battery starts to age noticeably. If I had the money I'd probably buy the V60 though.
As long as I can get a really nice 2-4 zoom using the main sensor, I'll take it. FHD+ 60hz with a 5000mAh battery. No worries that this should be the best battery performing phone this year. I'm all in it for the manual photo and video controls though. Nobody does it like LG and they're doing it even better with the switch to the dial ring instead of the vertical scroll system before. QuadDAC too. All at a price cheaper than the S20? Take my money LG.
I don't know about LG anymore. Their phones seem to come several months late. While everyone is moving on to the next thing, LG is just doing things now. I feel this can't even compete with a Mate 20 Pro (which has 30x zoom, wide angle with auto focus for macro photography, reverse wireless charging, in display scanner PLUS 3d facial recognition and 40w fast charging). Not to mention the Huawei has some of the best night mode out there. And the Mate 20 Pro came out end of 2018. So I don't know. I had a LG V30 plus. Never used the dac or those microphones. That seemed to be the only "defining" factor. I don't think LG is trying anymore. That's why I moved to Huawei. Huawei has much more innovative and future forward features. Like all LG phones before it then, I don't think this will do well. It's simply about a year behind other offerings particularly those from Huawei. I hope I'm wrong on this though. I still like LG.
Huawei don't have google services lol makes it a little hard to recommend that to anyone until they can get a deal made with Google... Which don't look good.
@@sethbaker4328 You can get all the apps you need from the Huawei App Gallery and things like Facebook or Instagram etc don't need an appstore since it can be downloaded directly from their website. For Google search and other things, a browser works perfectly. You really don't need Google Mobile Services.
Sounds like the ill fated Windows phone and Black Berry 10 arguments... What happened to them? What about the latest games and apps that come out. People want to be included if they pay for a flagship device. Not left out or adapting to featureless web based things. Huawei is doomed if they don't find a solution.
@@sethbaker4328 Windows and Blackberry based phones were not good phones. They were always mid range at best. Huawei phones themselves are actually damn good and better than the competition. I'm basically a walking Google ambassador myself but if I were to choose between some Google apps and absolutely great phone hardware and software, I go with Huawei. There are other ways of using Google services. It's not like you can't access Google drive, Google play, maps TH-cam etc through a browser. You can. Browsers these days are so good anyway. Plus there's many alternative app stores which can still be added where popular games can come from since, at the end of the day, it is still running Android open source platform which is very different to Windows and Blackberry.
Actually the Lumia 950 and 950XL was a damn good phone. It was way ahead of its time with an industry leading camera and a high density high resolution OLED screen and top of the line processor for the time (2015) lol it was only plaged by the same type of black listing from Google that Huawei currently faces. Look it up the Lumia 950 and see! Hardware is only part of an experience. At that time Huawei was still making cheap plastic budget phones on ANDROID. People would choose Huawei over Microsoft even though the hardware was atrociously worse because of the software... Not anymore. Huawei is out. Not saying they are bad phones because I know there great, but I can't recommend that half baked experience vs say an LG or Samsung device.
Why such a big jump in Megapixel when going from 4:3 to 16:9? Couldn't they just cut the top and bottom of the 64MP 4:3 and leave it alone? it would be higher than 12MP (which is the highest in 16:9 ratio). I like pictures in 16:9 at higher resolution than 12MP. I know that I can manually do that to a 4:3 picture, but when you transfer 300 pictures to edit one by one is a hassle .
I've been a Samsung user since the Galaxy S5. I am currently on the S9+ and was eagerly awaiting the release of the S20 (I change every 2 years.) To my dissaspointment, it had no headphone jack. This is very important to me; I have a plethora of wired headphones, which I absolutely adore. Wireless audio quality isn't quite there yet for me to consider making the change. After seeing that the v60 keeps its headphone jack, and has practically all the same features the S20 does, and for less... Well it's a no brainer for me. Adiós Samsung!
You didn't mention that its a sub $1000 package - dual screen, wireless charger, plug in charger, headphones all included. Not a S20 Ultra, but $400 cheaper plus dual screens - am in :-)
Looks awesome. Pretty device! BTW, the S20 and the S20 Plus also don't have a zoom lens, they do the same as LG, but with a separate lens and sensor for some reason.. probably marketing. Seriously, check the specs - the so called zoom lens on the S20 and S20 Plus has about the same focal length of the main lens. But the best thing that nobody mention is... A FLAT SCREEN!! Finally a company that listens. We don't want curved screens!
For many individuals who are going to spend $500-$1K they want to buy a product from a company that they know about and can depend on in mobile tech. Currently that's iPhone and Samsung. I feel like lg is fighting to beat 1plus and pixel in that secondary spot.
It's definitely going to be a hit what other phone you getting all those features including water and dust resistance, wireless charging, headphone jack and the latest snapdragon chip for under a grand. answer None. LG definitely came out swinging early this year unlike other years by undercutting the competition for its own flapship. #Welldone
Excited for lg v60.i think it will be a better buy than s20 Ultra.it even has manual mode in 8k video recording.also its not cropped in like s20 ultra is. Let's not forget it has a head phone Jack.
Not to be that person but if they ditched the QHD+ display they should have at least made it 90/120hz. Other than that it is a very solid device and I'm glad they're back in the game
Agreed, when I found out it wasn’t a 90 or 120hz display I was a little disappointed but at the same time. LG makes their own displays so I’m assuming they don’t have one available yet since Samsung is the one making all of the higher refresh rate displays.
I'm not a fan of neither of these companies Samsung or LG but with that being said If I had to choose i would get the LG v60 based on price alone. I'm with T-Mobile and the LG v60 by itself is $800. if you get the LG v60 with the dual screen attachment that just $100 more making it 900 bucks.
I really hope this phone is a hit with carriers in the US. I have had the LG v40 for the last 2 yrs and wouldn't trade it for anything. Quad DAC, unbelievable camera and consistent durability. I have owned the Samsung Note 5 and Sony phones in the past with my wife currently using the Samsung Note 10+. LG has them all beat in my book. I just wish the Samsung and Apple brainwashed sheep would actually look at the quality of the products they purchase for the money they are paying...
Yeah. Every phone lacks something.lol OPPo Find X2 Pro would have been also perfect if it had wireless charging. It's so sad that every brand likes to lack of something.
It's the same size as the Samsung what I'd like to know is how OLED stacks up to Super AMOLED. Could I even tell the difference between them if they weren't next to each other.🤔
Judging from the past few LG and Samsung flagships, no. You can barely tell any difference even side by side, except perhaps max brightness. Quality is more or less is the same.
I still believe the Samsung ultra overall is better. It has a better display, better camera, faster storage. The Samsung uses ufs 3.0 storsge while the LG uses 2.1. Samsung phones also have a higher resale value than LG phones. The Samsung s20 ultra also comes with faster charging. The main thing the LG v60 would have over the ultra is price, dual screen support and the high quality headphone jack
The V60 is a very good device but the S20 Ultra is a better overall device in my opinion. I have both devices. Of course you are getting better pricing with the V60
I have both the G8X Dual Screen and the Note 10 Plus. My last V device was the 20. I may drop Samsung and stick with LG. Now if LG would add reverse charging for my buds.
With a 1080p display, the 5000mamp 🔋 should get you 8to10hrs SOT? Having a choice of a single or duel screen is very cool? Keep the price down and LG may have a real winner here!
I love my v60 had one since they came out I have a blue one screen is very strong back glass breaks all the time. The charger port is the downfall and how u charge it.. meaning if u dont have the lg charger that came with your phone it takes 2 hours to charge when fast charging normal charging I've seen it say 10 hours per charge lol but love everything else
Tell you the truth I'm not that guy who sells my phone and get money off it . I use my phone in till they broke. So I'm happy with mine.. let me ask you what kind of phone you have?
The problem is when I buy s20 in my county I'll got exynos version and I hate that, so better I choose LG V60 price lower than s20 n have headphone jack.
disappointing camera sensors. 1/3.4" ultra wide whitout ois (1 micron pixels )? no telephoto camera? just compare it to s20 : 2 * 1/1.7" with ois and one 1/2.6"

I don't know what kind of trickery LG did with this 1080 display but it is the best 1080 display I have ever saw in my life that was the one thing that I was hesitant about because I had the quad display in the LG v40 but the battery life was terrible but the v60 display is f****** jaw dropping the beautiful I don't know how LG did it it must be there experience in making badass TVs probably that
Jonathan Casey only in manual video. Set the Quality to high and the bitrates go up. It doesn’t affect the auto mode. You could use manual mode and leave every setting on auto for better results. I’m no longer with LG. I use the XR with moment app.

Still rocking a V30. If LG would actually advertise, their phones would be a massive hit.
Is a DAC work when using Bluetooth earphones ? Or BT earphones has its own DAC? Im using sennheisser tru wireless earbuds. Thanks
BTW, the V30 can also BT transmit in AptX and AptX-HD, so it'll be compatible with any premium wireless headset.
If using Bluetooth, the DAC in the phone is not involved because it's a digital transmission to the headphones. The headphones would have their own DAC to use.
Was about to pull the trigger on a S20+, then I saw this guy. Holding off to do pre-order Friday.
I can't wait for it! Any word on a release date.
I'm reading rumors of releasing this month.
my thoughts?
60hz
Can't wait for the V60. I've been enjoying my V30 a few years now, and have held off on upgrading because IMHO there was nothing offered in the market that offered anything but small incremental improvements that was worth upgrading to. The headphone jack IS a BIG deal to me, and I use it a LOT!
WHEN I upgrade I'll probably keep my V30 just to use as a dedicated DAP.
Yeah, LG with Android 10 really good. Very good screen, Headphone Jack, Battery and 5G with good price. Wow 😊
I have the V40. Time for an upgrade. Will def be snagging a V60.
Same
If it's below $1000, for sure it will be my next phone
It's all about the headphone jack and quad DAC for me. Thanks for a great review.
Thank you so much!
is it me or did i see an x glitch appear at 7:22 , oh great vid btw
Nice vid and good mini review. I'll be looking to upgrade my V40 (had since launch) in a couple of months and I think the V60 might be the way the go. Besides, I've been spoiled by the DAC.
Have the v30 and love it . Can't wait till the v60 releases. Anyone know when it's supposed to be released?
Today it released in the US for Tmobile, At&t and Verizon
"QHD displays on phones aren't that important."
SO MUCH YES TO THAT STATEMENT!!!
Show your life on the really long screen, the cinema wide display!

But do u really need a 108mp though?
@@jay_z292 nope
Nobody does
Hey cousin...thanks for the interesting review.just wanted to check with you though...our version in rsa is a 3rear camera...64std...13uwide...and..5dsensor.also with a 10mp in front.you said it only had 2rear camera's?
Still using V20 for my video using manual mode. Let's see how my new S20 Ultra can replace my old V20 because Samsung has bring back pro mode (manual mode) which dissapear in S10+.
Big phones are a plus for me because of my big hands. During gaming i always click the wrong buttons because of my big fingers.
Well at least now, you can use your other screen as a separate gamepad controller so that you can have full vision of the game screen 😍
The v60 has Wascom activated! Pens work!
I would like to see how long that battery may last.
The Battery life is the best in LG Smartphones but Smasung Battery life is so bad
None of those "specs" make any difference in the real world..
It's going to do what all lg phones do. Sell well enough without any kind of marketing.
have the v30 and love it...looking to upgrade...the headphone jack helps me with the samson lav mic i have to doyou tube videos etc...can't wait
The name of this sounds like someone screwing up LGBTQ
What's the storage & will it be expandable? Who will the USA carriers be?
It's called The v series because It do it all the quad dac isn't going no where
I don't know about LG anymore.
Yes I can't wait to get the V60. Thanks for your information.
Do you know if LG will produce or release a LG G9 phone or this V60 is a new era for the models?
G series will be getting a refresh from what I understand
I've been a Samsung user since the Galaxy S5. I am currently on the S9+ and was eagerly awaiting the release of the S20 (I change every 2 years.) To my dissaspointment, it had no headphone jack. This is very important to me; I have a plethora of wired headphones, which I absolutely adore. Wireless audio quality isn't quite there yet for me to consider making the change. After seeing that the v60 keeps its headphone jack, and has practically all the same features the S20 does, and for less... Well it's a no brainer for me. Adiós Samsung!
The sound you will get thru the headphone is way better than most phones. Quad Dac makes a world of difference.
They should put another 3k or 5k mah battery built in on the flip cover. That would be awesome.
You didn't mention that its a sub $1000 package - dual screen, wireless charger, plug in charger, headphones all included. Not a S20 Ultra, but $400 cheaper plus dual screens - am in :-)
You didn’t watch the video then... I literally said all of these things.
Watching this video on the lgv60 dual screen wide view.....this phone is badass👌
Do you know what the refresh rate of the screen is? I see most people leaving it out of reviews making me nervous its only gonna be 60hz
It's only 60hz
I'm not a fan of neither of these companies Samsung or LG but with that being said If I had to choose i would get the LG v60 based on price alone. I'm with T-Mobile and the LG v60 by itself is $800.
if you get the LG v60 with the dual screen attachment that just $100 more making it 900 bucks.
Which headphone jack sounds better, the V60s or the Xperio 1 ii?
Im sure the LG will but that doesn’t mean the Sony will be trash either ya know?
I really hope this phone is a hit with carriers in the US. I have had the LG v40 for the last 2 yrs and wouldn't trade it for anything. Quad DAC, unbelievable camera and consistent durability. I have owned the Samsung Note 5 and Sony phones in the past with my wife currently using the Samsung Note 10+. LG has them all beat in my book. I just wish the Samsung and Apple brainwashed sheep would actually look at the quality of the products they purchase for the money they are paying...
This phone would be perfect with QHD and a Zoom lens.
So an S20 Ultra
Yeah. Every phone lacks something.lol
OPPo Find X2 Pro would have been also perfect if it had wireless charging.
It's so sad that every brand likes to lack of something.

@@wytewizzard But for a phone that costs, not having both ultra wide and zoom lens is disappointing.

Is there a way to share the 3D portrait photos? When I try to send/post them they just turn up as regular jpegs...
Side by side comparison between samsung s20 ultra vs lg v60.
It's a monster. Enjoying my v60 on Android 12

LG has the worst data rates? I’m pretty sure you can push up the Bitrate in settings
Nah, bitrate is locked in. Apps like filmic pro will help but tend to cause app crashes as well
Jonathan Casey only in manual video. Set the Quality to high and the bitrates go up. It doesn’t affect the auto mode. You could use manual mode and leave every setting on auto for better results. I’m no longer with LG. I use the XR with moment app.
How did they improve the quad DAC on this phone?
From what I heard they have tweaked the preamps.
