People have called the N Sane Trilogy the "Dark Souls" of platformers, and you know how much I hate that. I've been the originals, but there is a small amount of hesitance when it comes to taking on the Crash Bandicoot remastered games. The time trials in Crash Bandicoot 2 left a bad taste in my mouth and who knows of Crash Bandicoot 3 will have a similar result. With the stakes raised we are going to places a bandicoot never has before, like China and SPACE!

N Gin (Warped) is my favourite boss fight of all time! It has decent difficulty, and the payoff is just the right amount of awesome: the Bazooka! Now I can throw all those Nitros in the trash!

*Correction:* The Platinum Relics are *not* the Dev Times. They're really tough but still doable. The Dev Times are a complete and different beast altogether from the Platinum times. _You aren't beating these._ (i.e. In Original Crash 3, Toad Village, Level 1, Platinum is 44'03 while the Dev Time/Naughty Dog Time is 39'93)
You basically have to know *everything* and I mean bloody *everything* about the game and it's mechanics and to be a god at the game to even have a slither at beating these times.
I can say this as someone who's gotten all of them a couple times and only beaten maybe one Dev Time if I'm lucky.

Easily my favorite of the original trilogy. The upgrades made exploration more enjoyable, I enjoyed the bosses, and the time trials actually worked for this one since the game was originally built with them in mind, whereas they were simply thrown into the Crash 1 and 2 remasters.
to me, crash 2 is my favorite of the 3. mainly because there aren't as many vehicle levels

I'd like Crash 3 more if it had less vehicle levels. Just too many imo. I feel Crash 3 had the best level design in terms of where they take place though, like the idea of having levels take place all through time opened up so many possibilities it was awesome!
The original Crash Bandicoot is still my favorite due to it being somewhat challenging.

I actually appreciate that you don't need to get the platinum relics to unlock everything. I'd call it padding if you did, but instead it's more like an optional challenge. Much as I like completing things too, when you don't unlock anything from it, I (personally) will make an attempt (or a few attempts) but probably won't go too in depth to it. I've got other games to play, after all, and don't have a job of completing games like this (good job on you for that though).

I remember this being my favorite of the original Crash trilogy. I spent so many hours as a kid just mindlessly zoning out in this incredibly fun game.

iiCriminnaaL 49 That’s not much of an ask, I’ve completed Adventure 4 times (1 as crash, 3 as cortex) and belted out the time trials about 3 times.

I always pick the Cortex team. (Cortex in Adventure mode and N Tropy in Arcade mode)
he actually did complete it, but now we need to get him to complete the remastered that's coming out this year
When I was completing this game, I got so frustrated getting the silver time trial in this one water level, that I got a platinum and top 10 global on it

This has always been my favorite Crash game. I love the variety of gameplay styles, the time travel theme, the music is great and the bosses are better
Just saw the 300 splash added in from the newest opening. Great touch that I nearly missed, but so satisfying to see.
I am down for more awesome Crash shenanigans! Given Crash 3 on N.Sane is like MegaMan 3 on Wily Wars, it set the standard to amp the other games up to.
So enjoyable to see this again, great work Jirad.

This game is by far my favorite of the trilogy as this was the game that made me a Crash Bandicoot fan thanks to it’s amazing level design, awesome soundtrack and memorable cast of characters plus the biggest challenge of the game the relics
13:11 Actually you do need to get at least the gold relics (both for the last gem and the trophies)
Getting all the sapphire gems unlocks the Cortex rematch and the true ending only, if I remember correctly
True Ending is unlocked when you get everything and face Cortex again for the final time
nah, the Gold/Platinum Relics are for bragging rights
In the original Warped you did need at least the Gold Relics to get the final gem and the awesome fireworks.

timewise stormy ascent is really forgiving, the hard part is beating the level without dying.
He has to take a crack at it. It was part of the original 120 videos and he has to redo them all.
My favorite crash game. Warped had me in tears with laughter and frustration to complete.
Finally have made it to playing Crash 3 after starting the series this year for the first time. I think this has some amazing levels, but my goodness are the motorcycle stages frustrating at moments. Thank you though for inspiring me to finally give crash a shot.👍

I would doubt it, just because all of the Jak and Daxter games are available on the Playstation Store. No real reason to remake it from scratch if people are willing to buy the original again.

are you going back to old style of reviews again? if so, I'm so happy! I like the new structure of reviews and they are deeper, but it's not clear as to what you think about the game and what are the rewards or even to what you need to complete in the game. Also, I would love you to do jokes a little more on those videos, one of the things I like about your show is the homour. But still, your show is great as always and I love your content :)
Well I'm finishing all the switch games I have this year so this will eventually be one of get around too. If i try to complete the N.Sane trilogy i can use these videos as a checklist so thank you beard man

You have to collect at least 25 relics (gold/platinum only) to unlock extra secret levels. Collecting all gold/plat relics will boost your percentage up to 108% (yes, only gold/plat will do this).
At 29. I like to look back as the first game i completed . I still remember how bullshit it was finding the last crate on coco's jetski level was. Good times

Correction about relics, Sapphire is needed to fight Cortex for the 2nd time and get the true ending of the game. Gold/Platinum relics are required to get the final gem from Coco.

Crash 3 was the first game I’ve almost truly completed, the only difference is my completion rules were “gold relics” instead of platinum

I personally played the 2nd Crash game 1st (it was my 1st game after all lol) and love it to death, but crash 3 overall is still a great game! Just needed more platforming levels over vehicle levels, but thats just my opinion. If i remember correctly there is only 15 platforming levels (well 16 now including future tense). But either way still one of my favorite games growing up. IMO a game you should do soon, I really think you would enjoy if you havent played it, is brutal legend. Plus from a completionist standpoint the game to 100% is pretty short like 12 - 14 hours or something like that.
Welp, Jirard, Crash 4 is about to crush ya. Just learned of a hidden collectible on the levels. The N. Sanely Perfect Relics. To get it, you have to complete a level with all wumpa fruits, all crates, the hidden gem, and ZERO DEATHS in a single run. Learned this by accident by gaining such on the first easiest level. Best of luck.o_O

I remember when I completed the huge adventure, you need the platinum relics to get the true ending and the final boss on that game, really glad they didn't do it for warped, it would have made the game kind of a pain and I probably would not like it as much

I think platinum relics are best left to when you have already completed the game and just want to chase some of them for the sake of fun. It's awful to get stuck on one just because you feel you MUST succeed.

Well if you don't know this but: base game without future tense with all sapphires gives a Max of 104% but if you get all gold or all platinums max is 105% due to an extra gem you get if you max percentage the game with all golds/platinums but with future tense I am not sure what the max percentage with all sapphires instead of all gold or platinum but it still comes up to 108% with golds/platinums only
I would consider "finipete" an appropriate rating for a game that has different tiers of completion, but only rewards you for the lower tiers (or is otherwise not worth the higher tiers).
Would reaaaally like to see Red dead redemption 2, I mean it's incredibly difficult taking in count all the side quests, compendium and mission medals but maybe you could apply some rules or something. Also I know you've been through worst times.
Anyway, it's your choice.

I was fine with the completionist’s half ratings because he said in the past “that depends on the player’s preference between finishing the game and going the extra mile in terms of developer’s expectations to complete it” rather than just a encouraged suggestion in general.
I would like to see finipete it ratings return. A lot of games are fun after you finish them, but a chore to fully complete. Giving them a finish it rate just doesn't do them justice, there needs to be a middle ground that implies a game is likely well worth playing beyond the credits roll.
You could argue that its said in the review itself, but it isn't reflected in the recommendation. As far as the recommendation goes, games that aren't worth playing beyond the credits and games that can easily still offer dozens of hours of fun after the credits, are essentially the same.

I adore the first 2 Crash Bandicoot games and I tried so hard to love Warped but the motorcycle and jetski levels controlled so bad that I didn’t even finish it 😭
And they are so much worse in the n sane edition compared to the original

10:05 In Warped there are 5 colored gems, not 6. Only the first game has 6 colored gems. You'll need every gold relic to earn a hidden clear gem from Coco. Platinum is for bragging rights and trophies and those are pointless.

Crash 3 is the first Crash game I completed, outside of CTR. I love this game, its soundtrack and bosses. I can't wait for CTR remake.

Okay but like, the time trials are almost all easy? The only one that gave me an issue was the secret level for coco. The platinum ones aren’t actually unforgiving, you just need to know the levels, so before you go for the platinum relics you practice it a bit and learn the fastest routes you can take.

I have to say, two characters I couldn't get behind are Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka, mainly because I didn't like the new voices when compared to the originals.
Platinum relics with the wonky jetski is frustating to no end, it's not worth it.
