- I had so much fun cutting up my Gerber Strongarm Black with a Sawzall to make a Custom knife. My Gerber Strongarm Coyote has been my EDC Knife of choice during knife testing. It is hands down the best edc knife when it comes to fixed blades. It's one of my favorite EDC tools. I have big plans for this Custom Gerber Strongarm. I've been doing a Gerber strongarm durability test. This gerber strongarm test has been fun! And the rubber overmold makes it nice and grippy. No slick G10 problems there.
Yeah, this handle isn't going anywhere. I have abused these knives and have no issues at all.

I also like the rubber type of handles.
G10 and micarta are a bit too slick for my taste. I know they are liked by many.
Give me a Mora Bushcraft Black handle. The Gerber Strongarm looks like a good one for me also.
No need for huge blades either. For chopping a machete or hachet will do the job better than, most, big knives anyway.

Also shows that a full width tang is far from needed in a hard use knife.
No cold (winter) or hot (summer, desert) steel tang in the hand.
Yes sir! Mine is literally stabbed in the dirt beside me as I do repairs to an irrigation system. So, muddy, wet hands. No slipping.

I got one pot these knives coming. Hopefully they are still as tough as they say they have been. By the way; must be nice to remember you have a multitool on your belt, I do too, but frequently forget I do, than feel stupid when I ask someone something and they say ‘don’t you have Pliers/can opener etc on your belt?’ Lol

I love mine in bdz-1 steel,tiugh an sharp little utility knife and wirk horse an tactical jack of all trades.
Nice! I was lucky enough to find a BDZ1 model! I have yet to use it though.... It's a shelf queen along with all of the other limited models.
I will give you an idea. You can drill and put micarta guard. If it is possible.
That's a good idea. The tang however is so hard that even a machine shop was unable to get through it

yeah thats what i thought too. they specify full tang on their website but its more like a partial hidden tang. its tough though but i still think a proper full tang is tougher
It's a hidden tang lies its not full tang super disappointed

Man, I have beat the Strongarm to pieces. I have many other units and 2 of them have been work blades and no matter how hard I try, and I have tried, I cannot break them.
Knock yourself out Bro. If you got the skill to make your own or buy a more expensive knife that is just as good as this one do it. I paid $30 for my Prodigy. The drill bit to make your first hole will cost more than that. 🙂
@@johnnywishbone932 yeh I been building knives over 40 years lol that's why when I want a new one something different I buy tops because they mostly use same kinds of steel I build with nice to see somebody else's take one a build like tops

@@MaddawgEDC Excellent, thanks. I have a hat very similar to that only it's made by Levine Hat Co. in St. Louis and it's all heavy leather. I got the Barcelona straw sun hat from American Hat Makers last year an love it. Again, it's like the shape of yours but in stiff sturdy white straw. I prefer the "Western Style" hats where the brim is flat on the sides and back and the front is turned down over the traditional cowboy hat both sides turned up. Another good one is the Stetson Gun Club.
You destroyd an excelent knife! And for what??? Maybe you have too much money... spending for nothing usefull. I only regret the knife... detroyd whith no purpose...very sad...

But why destroy the new 1 and not the old 1
The old one is my main work knife, the new one was acquired specifically for the project. I wanted a fresh blade for the rehandle.... That so far I've never finished haha

It is full. See the hole at the end? That's the lanyard loop.
