- I am back competing at otb chess and I'm so excited!! I'm playing Rilton Elo, which is a tournament in Stockholm for people under 2200 and my goal is to win the whole thing :D this is the recap of round 7 - hope you enjoy!!

I loved watching this with Pia. She's a brilliant commentator.
She didn’t stop talking for 3 hours straight. And she was actually saying useful things. Such a brilliant chess player and communicator.

A spectacular game, Anna. I thought Pia was going to explode at one point, and I had to sit down with a cup of chamomile tea and a small cake afterwards. My God - you might win this tournament.
I remember a few weeks ago she was knocking down 2400s in Blitz. She should have the confidence to win because she certainly has the ability.
I'm completely confused, how did she go from 1.1 seconds to 29:01 ?

Anna, as a big fan of your talent, your infectious enthusiasm for chess and your big beautiful smile, I will just say what you already know: Your greatest weakness is using up too much game time. Since I started watching your channel my hair has turned grey and whenever I see your clock running down below ten seconds it triggers my chess PTSD ! You are killing me. I can’t take much more! Please remember how good it felt in this game to be up on time, relaxed and in control. Set an internal time limit on moves for yourself and I see you advancing in leaps and strides, beautiful and unstoppable like some Viking Queen of chess! Wishing you great things for this tournament and whatever follows. Good luck!
I am actually ready to bet that Anna's opponent played fast to begin with because he knew and wanted to take advantage of Anna's poor time management. But then he played a little too fast and blundered. I suspect those young players shoot themselves in the foot more often than not trying to play those psychological games... I really doubt Pia spends any time on such dubious tricks... Anyhoo, Anna played beautifully and all ended well!
I always start watching one of her videos thinking it's too long, I'm just going to skip to the end. But the editing and Anna's presentation is so interesting that I usually sit through the whole thing. Hats off to the editor and Anna. Thanks for taking us on your tournament journey.

Fun fact about the tournament standings:
The start seeding had 1 woman in the top7, said woman being Anna at #7. Second highest seeded woman was seeded #21
After 7 rounds, there are now 5 women in the top 7 and Anna is tied for #1
Also, I can't commit myself to watching the full games but I absolutely love the short highlights from your mother's commentary.

OMG correct. Users have been saying forever to practice on 3min to improve speed. Because you have to use your opponents turn to consider his possible moves and plan on how you plan to respond immediately.

I love how you are almost the character from Queen's gambit except without the tragic backstory. I have the tragic backstory without the chess ability
From decades ago, I understand how the pieces are permitted to move, but know little else about chess-certainly not strategy. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up enthusiastically enjoying chess content on TH-cam. Much of it is due to your beauty and your personality, but the key difference is having you explain your thought processes during the matches. That is fascinating.
Pia is such a gem, amazing commentary. The highlight of this tournament watching her on stream along with the games.

Game 8 was so unlucky but I was surprised at the errors made by your opponents in Games 5&7 still that's the ups and downs of a tournament. I look forward to the next one!

Great game! Jung was knocked out convincingly and methodically. Obviously he was unable to witstand your pressure, which is really remarkable considering his rating.
As a viewer I experienced a completely different set of emotions this time: no time pressure, relaxation, a ton of optimism - no nailbiting nerve-wrecker as I am used to!

Wow, it's quite amazing that you can go into a tournament believing that you can win it, and actually be within reach of that goal with only two more rounds to play. That must be a great confidence boost
Fantastic! Especially that you experienced the calm feeling you have when playing without time pressure. Its so much easier to find good moves on your opponents time. Then when you got into time trouble you said "I am Anna Cramling and I like to think in chess" No, this is not an unchangeable part of your chess which defines you. You can learn to manage time better, and you are still thinking even when you are not under time pressure. It just seems like you're not thinking because its so much easier when you can calmly consider the position.
