Greetings from Finland! I fell in love with Laphroaig aged 10 years whiskey about 20 years ago and the love has been enough to this day. Best whiskey ever!

Amazing dram. Always reach for this Laphroaig in the fall when the weather starts getting chilly.

I tasted Laphroaig 10 for the first time at a bar few months ago and I was stunned. So smoky, medicinal and unique! Felt like chewing ashes (which was amazing). The aftertaste lasted forever.

It is definitely a lot more soft and less edgy than it used to be. This is good, as in it taste a bit more composed than in the past… but it’s also bad because it lacks some of the punch that it used to carry. Longtime fans would probably prefer how it used to be, but the newer style is probably more welcoming than before to those new to Isla whiskies. Just as long as they don’t keep going down this road more and more it’s fine.

This one is it. It's my go to whiskey. I adore it and where it takes my brain. Many many scotches I love for their taste but this one is my favourite so far. My taste test tonight I had a few whiskeys... then an Ardbeg 10... very good... but it smells/tastes what my brain thinks of as an ocean bog. A swamp near the ocean. A cool place. I smell my Lagavulin 16 bottle and it smells like a camp fire very near the ocean. It remembers salt, ocean wind, etc as well as smoke and it also has a focus on the vegetation and fruits nearby. Laphroaig 10, to my taste and smell, is like I'm on an ocean jetty with those seaweed walls next to me and the salt water is flying past my face. The brine is intense. The only other scotch I have smelt sort of like this is Talisker 10. But, oddly, when I tried an Ardbeg 10 tonight... then smelt a Talisker 10 ... ALL THE BRINE AND OCEAN ARE GONE! All that is left is a weird, sweet caramel. Not so with Laphroiag 10. It somehow, even being what many call "bright" shines through an Ardbeg comparison. Nevermind that where I live the Laphroaig is also about 30% less expensive than the Ardbeg 10... it somehow out-muscles it, for me, as a peaty Islay Scotch. Now here in Canada it is 43% alcohol (I understand it's 40% in Europe) but wow does it ever shine.

Will be interesting to see how the supermarkets deal with the pricing on regular every day malt this xmas period.

A defining product showing the traits of Islay Whisky! Hard to go wrong with this. I just wish they offered it at 43-46% ABV as standard. Got to keep the quality and price consistent though. I must have about 15 bottles of different types of Laphroaig at home.

@@drax14QC I love that here in Canada it's 43% ABV. I rant about this whiskey all the time, even in comparison to Ardbeg 10, Port Charlotte 10 and Lagavulin 16 (which I also love).

Laphroaig was my first whisky love... There's something intoxicating about peat, separate from the alcohol 😆

This is my first Whisky ever, a friend of mine recently gave me a small bottle as a present. At first it was too much for me, as I only tasted the hefty oaky aroma. Now it is starting to grow on me, as I start to taste the subtler aromas. I tried it with a splash of water too which amplifies the subtler aromas, which for me tasted a bit better.

I think everything there is over priced. Government to blame most likely, like Canada. But… you can get Fijian rums cheaper than the UK and US can so these is a silver lining.

Horst is correct on Laphroaig's 10 price. Its been the same price for a many a year until recently where it has gone up 10 U.S. dollars probably due to inflation (here in the U.S. 60 to 65 U.S. dollars)
I noticed that in 2020 and 2021, during the covid-19 years, alot of scotch went up in price (Im guessing because of the decrease of supply and the total shutdown of any production) However, Laphroaig 10 stayed near its price and was much more available than other single malts at that time. In my opinion, I figured the younger and newer generations probably detested Islay's due to their inexperience mostly sticking with top highlands and speyside brand names.
It was interesting to see, at the time, how there was a few Lagavulin's, Taliskers, Caol ila, couple of Arbeg's, and several of Laphroaigs on the shelves compared to the other world wide demanded single malts which were near empty or jacked up in price at that time.
I for one was quite happy my favorite Islay was near the same in price, and in good supply. (At that time)
