- The day is finally here and it is pretty surreal! The push to debut this vehicle at the Expo this weekend has been a success, and the team at Bison Overland campers got it done! I shot this walk through just after we pulled the truck out of the shop for the first time, and right before we hit the road to drive it 2 hours to the Moore expo in Missouri! What do you think?!

@@deepsix1827 If you watch his videos; he’s constantly outside & that’s how a lot of us make smaller spaces work (e.g. teardrop trailers).
When the cam isn’t rolling, perhaps he’s indoors a good deal, but I get the impression that he’s like me: sleep inside or to eacape days w/ harsher weather, but otherwise living outside & enjoying it.

@@deepsix1827 I'm a big guy & I did it in a teardrop like trailer with 2 dogs. I spent all my time outside, lots of fishing & exploring. got snowed on @8k elevation in June in the sawtooth mountains 😂 had a blast🍻

He had a vision of an empty camper and now it's a reality. I myself I'm getting a little choked up. The hard work, the effort, the planning....just amazing.
Why is there a hige gap between the camper and the body?
Looks great Phil! The only drawback I see is the large gap behind the cab. Seems like that could have been usable space. Or if you don't need the space, it could have been used to shift weight forward and improve departure angle. Sorry to nitpick--it's an amazing, high-quality project.
yeah I'm curious as to the design considerations leading to that outcome. From the aspects you mentioned, to aesthetics and fuel economy it has me puzzled.

Now that you have the camper fitted, it really needs a set of extended wheel arch flares to go over those tyres. Right now, the truck and camper don't look cohesive. Maybe once the rear bumper and under camper storage are fitted it might look more together. But right now as it needs something.

I am just getting started restoring my old 1978 F 150 4x4 short bed and am looking at tons of options.
Quick backstory is I got this my senior year of high school in 1979 and it has been in all but 7 states and 2 Canadian provinces.
My bucket list is to set this up so I can hit the rest except probably Hawaii.
damb the camper looks akward on the back of that jeep
Cause,almost,all of it is behind the rear axle.I'm curious how it is going to drive on and off road.The dual cab lc79 with with a max carrying weight of 2400lbs needs to get a chassis extension in the middle to get that rear axle way back in order to carry a camper and drive as it would.
looks like it could have been moved forward about 6 inches closer to the cab to close that gap.
Agreed @@k30blzr The dodge didn't have that big of a gap. Looks like an oversight in the design for sure.
I really thought that was gonna be A cab over that's small for two people I guess I'll have to wait and see

Looking forward to seeing how they/you finish out the back end...it bounced pretty good on first view....So, yup, that back end completion is going to make this rig stand out...But Phil...you planned that..right....congratulations.

I'm glad you like the new camper but it looks kinda small to me. Even for one person. I would have made it a little longer so you have more room for storage inside. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

I dig it. Worried about it being a bit top heavy when getting off-road. It's fairly easy for things to tip when you have one tire in a hole and another elevated.

Sweet camper probably like $100,000 it doesn't even look like you can lay down in there I would have just done like a custom four-wheel camper one of smaller ones and made it fit on the bed of the Gladiator so you could take it off whenever.... but pretty cool nonetheless enjoy it
I didn't want to be the first to say it but yeah that looks like 5 maybe 5 and a half feet, and they have storage taking up a good foot as well. I mean that's cool and all but why did it take then years to build 4 walls of Styrofoam... it probably cost an arm and a leg as well.

maybe you could make a wedge out of a rigid solar panel or an angled box on the jeep roof, to cover up that flat wall facing into the wind. looks pretty cool, better than i thought, but i dont like that part.

This has inspired me for my build: shorten the cab, replace axles with HD axles and reduce overhang.
