you can ONLY buy the canis rex unless you're buying old boxes. the lastest Questoris packaging is the Canis Rex without the box art, that's why GW only has ONE SKU each for the Questoris, Abominant, and Castellan.
I think one of the things I like about Imperial Knights, is the ability to just pick up one model and use it in your imperium army. So even if you only pick up 4 armigers to start? You can run 3 of them in your space marines.
I'm planning on making an Knights army at some point but to make it an engineers units, based off the British 79th Amoured Division of WW2 with their Hobarts funnies. So one will be a fascine carrier, one with anti mine flail like the Sherman Crab, making one into a recovery Imperial Knight with cranes, a bridge layer Knight etc. All non playable additions and magnetised so they can be removed if necessary, but I just thought of the idea and become fascinates with it.
Honestly dude thank you man! Your idea inspired me to think about adding some character to my knight army and I am going to assign battle field roles to each knight. So heavy gunner, combat engineer, assault.. that kind of thing. Make it like a massive version of an infantry squad 🙂
Personally, i find knights easier to paint too! I've struggled to get all the details I want on minatures. (I can barely do belts and belt buckles), but on a big robot it's not too bad!
A big save is also magnetizing. it's surprisingly easy to do with just a manual Dremel and means you only need 3 Questoris, 2 Dominus, Whatever Cerastsus models you think are cool, Canis rex, and 5 boxes of magnetized Armigiers to get a fairly comprehensive library of units. while the upfront cost is a little more then say grey knights or custodes, in the long run you end up saving several thousands of dollars. So in addition to be relatively easy to finish a 2k list you also are only a few more models away from finishing what will feel like a nice wide collection. Little old to reply but for future peeps I figured I should write this
For competitive lists your going to want to start with 2 Magnetized Questoris and 7 Magnatized Armigers. On the side you want two 10 man Exaction squads and a vindicare assassin. Later add a dominus and maybe a 10 man voidsman(2x rogue trader kill team) squad for some flexibility. If you want get some cerastus in plastic after this.
@@jeffreywelch9360 should have also mentioned the theme I was going for is 7 deadly sins, so I need exactly 7 knights, and the Castellan doesn't like that number
Been a 40k fan for awhile but never went table top, but the knights got me thinking otherwise, and it honestly fuels my inner mecha nerd to collect and build, hoping to start playing soon.
I’ll add troll trader to the buying option - actually pretty good pricing for models that are already painted and “battle ready”. Just need to be patient/search a bit to find the colour option that suits you.
I'm getting back into the hobby and somehow I've never heard of Imperial Knights until a few days ago and rapidly decided to go for them, so this video has been very helpful in terms of wrapping my head around them and figuring out a buying plan so I don't get over or underwhelmed as I did with my previous dips into 40k or warhammer in general.
The cheapest army is imperial knights if you bought 2 battleforces. 340€ en GW store but I got two of them in my local game store for 136€ each. 20% discount. 272€ in total I think there is nothing cheaper new in sprues than this example.
one questoris, one dominis, a vindicare assassin, fill the rest with armigers/helverins. for bigger list add in an extra questoris or lancer, with this add in some imperial navy breachers
Hi. I’m plannig to start an Imperial Knights army. I think I saw from your channel a video with some 1K example army lists, but I can’t find that video anymore, ¿Could you please tell me where are those army lists? in cas it’s in your channel ofc. Thanks
Thanks to this video I have finally decided on my first 40K army. Could you use an Astra militarum Cadian command squad and 20 x Cadian shock troops instead of the Vindicare assassin and 1x5 Arbites extraction squad?
I really don't get why IK doesn't have a melta / gattling armiger or a gattling / melee one... The lack of choice in armigers makes IK pretty disapointing :/
What I really don't get is why you can't be an admech knights house... The majority of knights ARE sworn to the admech .. I feel like it'd be fun to have some admech, skitari maybe to handle scouting and objective stuff and keep things off your big boys, and then knights. I saw the big porph knight.. immediately I went and grabbed an STL Cuz there's no way I'm paying them hundreds for a few pounds of resin, my resin is 22 a bottle ;). Probably wouldn't use him in a game anyway, he's SOOO expensive points wise. Anyone know if I'm allowed to use my ren faire house name for my knights army? 😂 I've even got my own personal heraldry and house heraldry I could apply accurately to my knights. I found a really neat replacement head for the questoris or probably dominus too since they share so much, it's a bearded helmet. 😂. I'll probably have at least one bearded knight just for fun.
@@smoogsterdragongaming323 I actually ran the math on it, you could pick up 2 knights and 8 armigers brand new for only £344; thats a pretty great cost as far as armies go. I take personal offense to Chaos Knights being weaker, 14 Wardogs (6 Stalkers, 6 Brigands and 2 Executioners) just trample enemies of the Dark Gods! Then again "nothing personal, kid" Valiant IS legit funny concept.
I've picked up a questoris (though i was inches away from dominis instead!) To ally with my deathwatch and guard. Someday hes gonna sneak in a couple of armigers and with a couple imperial agents, a mini knight household will be born. Unless i win that giveaway 😅
right now you dont start imperials. because if you begin now you look like a soulless meta-chasing asshat. (chaos is ok, doesn't quite have the same OP rule soup) after one more nerf cycle they should be fine though :D
Hope they release that knights Combat Patrol soon.
Just buy a Paladin
Isn't that an armiger box?
So one u it or 2?
It just released last weekends - the Cerastus Knight Lancer.
Everyone missed the joke it seems.
If your starting a new knight army. Buy Canis Rex kits exclusively and magnetize. The kit give you everything you need to run any knight you want
you can ONLY buy the canis rex unless you're buying old boxes. the lastest Questoris packaging is the Canis Rex without the box art, that's why GW only has ONE SKU each for the Questoris, Abominant, and Castellan.
Even though i already collect knights, glad to see you teaching people how to join the glorious mechanical army
I am wanting a knight army so bad!!!
If you have some chest hair you’ll get 4 questoris knights and a vindicare. Competitive viability is a psyop.
How about 2 Questoris and a dominus and 1 helverin
@@patykaarplegos6282 3 questoris, one dominus, 1 culexus
Admittedly I do wanna do that and use the vindicare to kill characters
Nah, 2 acastus porphryons and a cerastus lancer and you're good
Nah, you would get 5 gallants
I think one of the things I like about Imperial Knights, is the ability to just pick up one model and use it in your imperium army. So even if you only pick up 4 armigers to start? You can run 3 of them in your space marines.
That’s what I’m thinking I’ll do with AdMech, two factions, but I can take units from one to use in the other

Okay, that sounds quite cool
Dam that sounds cool!
Very interesting idea. Kinda ties back into their roots as farming equipment
Well if they're fully magnetized, there's no reason you can't swap in "legal" weapon loadouts for an actual game
Honestly dude thank you man! Your idea inspired me to think about adding some character to my knight army and I am going to assign battle field roles to each knight. So heavy gunner, combat engineer, assault.. that kind of thing.

Meanwhile gsc and guard player: ***k the face
If I didn't already like mechs, this'd be my main reason for starting a Knight army.
I like how Knights are always brought up as one of the easier armies for newcomers because "you need so few models", but those models are $170 each...
Yeah, they are cheaper than other armies despite the price per model
Yeah now look up the average cost of a 2k army. You'll rapidly realize WHY its said
A big save is also magnetizing. it's surprisingly easy to do with just a manual Dremel and means you only need 3 Questoris, 2 Dominus, Whatever Cerastsus models you think are cool, Canis rex, and 5 boxes of magnetized Armigiers to get a fairly comprehensive library of units. while the upfront cost is a little more then say grey knights or custodes, in the long run you end up saving several thousands of dollars. Instructions unclear- bought a dominus knight and struggled to write a list around it
Add a crusader 5 warglaives one helvrin one assassin

I hope we get some kind of knight bundle similar to the start collecting for other factions
Always a good day when we get to see Auspex’s knights.
Step one of starting a Knights army: murder someone for their armigers/wardogs since GW hasn't made any in months
Funny enough I traded off some crappy Transformer toys for 4 helvrin, and 3 armiger no box but they were unbuilt with there instructions.

Started with necromunda and thinking of making knights for my first step into 40k. Love giant robots.
“Why collect Knights?” BECAUSE THEY’RE FLIPPING COOL 😎

good luck finding that old box
Thank you for all your hard work!
Just to note, the Index Cards are back in stock on GW website (at least in Canada). I had an email notification set up and just ordered some.
Im currently starting a knight army. Got the Lancer box on my painting desk. Fingers crossed for your giveaway
Love the channel keep up the great work
why arent they making a titan combat patrol box? been waiting for 10+ years already
"why play imperial knights?" ... realy the short answer would be "what if Warhammer had Battletech/Mechwarrior mechs"
Magnets. Get lots of magnets.
one questoris, one dominis, a vindicare assassin, fill the rest with armigers/helverins. for bigger list add in an extra questoris or lancer, with this add in some imperial navy breachers

Get the chain breaker lance from Christmas
Absolute MUST If you can!
My beloved Knights
Do you feel the ability to have your castigator deep strike is worth it over others if looking to go melee heavy?
My knight army is so close to being done, it just needs... more
Planning to get a night soon as custodes/sisters allays i have a feeling it'll be a slippery slope
my list is canis rex castellan 6 armigers magnitized and eversor or a vindicare assassin

The Cadian Command Squad and Shock Troopers aren't Imperial Agents and wouldn't be able to be allied in.
2 chain breaker boxes if you can get them cheap is also solid
Cheap back when released. Any surviving boxes would be marked up to not worth it levels.
I really don't get why IK doesn't have a melta / gattling armiger or a gattling / melee one... The lack of choice in armigers makes IK pretty disapointing :/
*laughs in War Dogs. IK really gets shafted by GW, Chaos Knights get every single configuration including IK ones, but not the other way round
How do start guard "Wait for a better combat patrol."
I wish they were in stock somewhere in the USA.
For the endoskeleton, do you prime leadbelcher?
What if i only want a 1000 point army?
Great timing! This video is coming out just before I win the September giveaway! 😂

If I do get a knight, it'll be a questoris and it will ally with my marines
I’ve been thinking about getting a knight to use as an ally but I’m afraid I’ll end up buying a whole army.

Step 1: create a savings account
Step 2: suffer as you make it your “knight” account
Step 3. Celebrate as its cheaper than any other army
