Had 2 15" speakers in folded horn enclosures in the house, powered by a Sansui 9090db, and Iv'e never heard anything better. They hit so clean, hard, and low.
Probably more to do with that amazing amp than anything else lmao
@@chickenpotpie4045 I agree it is an amazing sounding amp, have it powering some cerwin vega vs150s right now, but really regret selling those custom folded horns i had.
@klubstomper Any way a square sub could do well in a horn enclosure?
@ericthompson4644 it should work just get your measurements correct,
Watch this guy's other videos on how to design a horn but use your speaker TS parameters.
dude. Your intros seem like previews from huge budget movies from back in the 90s. Really love all the effort you put into it
Thanks for noticing. It takes quite a bit of time to do it.
@@BudgetBassHead The corners need to be made rounded (I made them from a sewer pipe and foam), this will increase the tuning frequency and the bass will also be faster
Good video, man. I say for a V2 build, try reducing the throat size all the way down the line, incrementally, starting at the sub mounting side.
This will (hopefully) lengthen the path and bring it closer to a quarter wave resonance of around 28hz.
It should also smooth out the response curve.
Any chamber resonance can be smoothed out with wool batting or poly stuffing the line 1/3rd of the way past the subwoofer side of the line.
Just some input from someone whose designed and built transmission line and labyrinth enclosures...
What a great box dude, thanks for sharing all the tests!
Thanks for watching.
The box matters, a properly engineered and tuned box makes a huge difference.
💯
When you did the sweep, your horn enclosure peaked its highest impedance @ 37Hz= 6.1 ohms. Thats why your Db went up a little more when you tryed 37Hz, that is where this enclosure has maximum cone control. You could have eeked out a little more @ 37Hz, if you crept up on power, just before it bottomed out, maybe a 140Db @ 37Hz? Also looks like to be safe on this enclosure, i would set subsonic filter to start reducing power @ 30Hz, cause by 26Hz, it started to unload. Great video, and results!
Thanks for the tip
You probably know MBE he did 141 with two 8's on music. You guys are great channels!! And your work and time you put in is appreciated!!!
Thanks for the support 💯
Who is MBE?
@Sniper Pro nerf mods He makes enclosures and his area is 8 inch subs.

I enjoy watching your videos and learn a little bit every video. I've also been into audio since the 90's, so you can teach a old dog new tricks.
I love the time and science you take to figure out your outcome. Please keep these kinda vids coming!!
Will do
I ran the X12v1 for years in a 3cuft ported enclosure on a RF 1500BDCP. It was the best sounding subwoofer I’ve ever heard.
They sound so clean it takes a while to get used to them.
I’m looking at picking up one of those JP8 amps and one of these V3 8’s now. I don’t want to run a second alternator and battery in the car I have now.
Very cool!
Bro, I love that intro man. Keep on making videos bro. We miss you out here
Will do
Cool name dude. I was thinking about naming my build that once I get started on it. Spaceghost bassghost
Man, I'm not a basshead or a an audiophile, but I love these experiments you run with different box types! Sub'd for sure.
That thing is bad ass. Sounded great in the headphones
always entertaining brother, thanks you and keep em coming!
Coincidentally enough, Jacob just posted testing pics of the future new 8 inch Z series sub which is actually BIGGER than the X8 🥴
Must see that!
Now I can’t wait to see you put this in a 4th and 6th order
1/4 wave enclosures can load the cone to an extreme extent. Take your resonator and narrow it, then increase the size for maybe one fold and make the mouth far bigger. SPL will likely increase as will cone control. My suggestion, anyhow, grains of salt and all.
I've complete construction of a "double transmission line" "compound horn" paraflex box for my Walmart sub.... I'm coming after that 140dB once I get some new power wires run etc etc.
exactly every 1/4th wave i have done has had an insane amount of cone control.
Cool idea. I was limited on space. This was the best I could do within the trunk.
@@puresesh7985 i have a transmission line in my car with a 800w 10" deafbonce sub and i can easily push 1300w because the cone doesn't move much
@@BudgetBassHead I had to hammer out my trunk and remove the carpet to fit mine, but it fits. Lol. TBH no idea how much my cone is moving on this one because the box fully encloses the speaker. My 6.5" version the subwoofer seems to take well over rated RMS before exceeding excursion, but it's got a crazy motor for the size of the speaker. My 12" motor isn't so impressive for the size
I would be interested in seeing and learning from your build
Always had good luck with 8's back in the day in the 50 w class in same inclosures
My buddy has two sd 10s I think it’s JPs old box in his console and it hits a 150. Those they are awesome keep up the great videos my man!
Praying all is well BudgetBasshead…. I’ve got my notifications ready 🙏
Much appreciated
the peak will change as power increases do to presure build up in a the cabin so the best way to mesure it is to increase the power and run the sweap again
I’ve had literally 5 different set up for my two x8 last one I did was the first go around with just one cause the other one blew and this is a great idea that imma try next
Great Video!
Please share.
I need to try this. My X 8 is currently in the Sundown recommended enclosure.
Go for it😉
Hay brother i saw you say in another video that you should have an amp with more power than the sub can take to stop clipping. So i want to get a Skar rp 2000.1 amp and run 2 skar subs on it. ether 12's or 15's. probably 12's, what Skar subs would you recommend for that amp running at 1 ohm powering 2 subs. i think that amp dyno's at 2,600w rms. also do you have a review video on the Skar DDX subs? i looked and cant seem to find one. Brother i could really use some advice. i want it to sound good but i also want it to bump hard and move a lot of air. i will be putting this in a 2011 Nissan Van. that van is huge and long with 2 back rows of seats that will lay down flat with lots of cargo area so my box can be huge if need be. i just have herd that the more rms your subs are rated at the harder they are to push and i want to get the most out of my subs without having to run my radio at full volume, if you know what i mean. Can you give me some of your expert advice. Thanks brother, great channel, i am learning so much from your videos!
I wish you gave us some more music demos. I like spl but some good sql demo would be nice ❤
this is really GOOD work, THANK YOU
Have you ever considered getting a t harness from llj Customs out of Phoenix I had one made for my 2019 Chevy Trax and it was plug-and-play worked flawlessly
What is a t harness?

I really do need to. Check them out a couple years ago but never made the purchase

That little 8 is a beast
Thanks my audio brotha very satisfied with the whole demo 👍👍🔊🙉😎
Any time!
I dont know how many DBs,
But i have a JBL Charge 4 built into a tube enclosure. Reproduces 21 Hz at room (3Hz at port)
This is so awesome!!! I have the exact same subwoofer. Are you willing to share the specs of the enclosure?
bandpass horn enclosure ?? might be worth it have a sealed section for cone control and back pressure just and idea
poor little 8 getting hammered
great video sir
Thanks 👍
I buyed a gas alpha 10" 50euro or something, and a gas pro 1000d amp to my daily.
Made custom box, and did the box wrong with the saw and made it to small xD , But i got 137.7db on music on it. I will say that was impressive. The box was really small also x)
When finding the peak or the vehicles resonance do you have to check for those numbers for each sub whether it be 8 on up to 15 or would that number be the same just because of that particular vehicle?
Good question. I suppose it would be more constant in an open environment like an SUV or a van. But coming from the trunk changes things. So it varies with enclosure size and tuning. Mostly because the enclosure size is less than or greater than the previous enclosure; which changes the overall cabin volume.
"I am a Brazilian, a fan of your content. Could you give me a little guidance?
Would the calculation of the front and rear chambers be added to the area of each labyrinth? Should I calculate the ft3 of the surface of the speaker to the output of the labyrinth duct? I apologize, I am using a translator! Thank you very much!"
Hope all is well with you!? Its been awhile.
I've been wanting a good box for my zvx-8 I've also owned a sundown x-8 v3
More musical than the zvx-8 but I liked the lows on the skar
Nicely done bro
Here we go!!!
It is a nice beefy looking subwoofer thanks for sharing.
It sure is!
whats that bass knob?!
This is the bass knob that comes with the Dayton Audio DSP408
If you dont mind me asking, i have an impala v6, and was curious to what you have (electrical) to be able to push 5k on the 5 8's video
350 Mechman alternator, 45Ah Lithium bank, AGM starter battery, 0 gauge
Hey. What app are you using for the frequency test? . This is my learning channel. Big ups bro
@budgetbasshead hey I love your videos. I was wondering, could you do a video on polyfill sealed enclosures and oversized sealed box like double the recommended size then stuffing it. Just have a hunch and you have the resources. Also try normal amount of pollyfill then more then recommended
what kind of bass remote you have linked with the taramp remote control
\
The remote in the video comes from the Dayton audio DSP 408
You have any upcoming videos?
Guess you thought you were going to upload without me knowing, don't ya?😂
😁
Hey let's see what the CT sounds Meso does in it 😎
Awake box build. Little sub was working
It seems to act very similar to an infinite baffle setup. Sounds really good but easy to max out the excursion.
I love ib
We build specific subs for these boxes, especially long term, because his disclaimer is accurate ; these horns give zero shits about your poor suspension
those x series are bad ass my xv3 15s take almost double rated power no problems
I am a believer
I need this design for 4 Ampere 2.5 8s. Seriously
Where has Budget Basshead gone???
The dd audio 2508 is the real king.but there might be a new champ and that's the Nemesis Audio NA-8T 8" Car Subwoofer 1500 Watts DVC
.gotta do a video with all 4 of these monsters ,fu.. it make it 4 and add the g7
Thanks for the suggestion
hey man i know you like doing your own thang but asking people to sub will help and asking for like and stuff at the begin of the video and the end will help get you more veiws and stuff also love the content brother
Thanks for the tip
Good vid bro
Hope that all is well sir.
Try a tapped horn if you can. This was impressive from a single 8
People don’t be fooled yea it will fill the bottom octaves in but hit hard it want do! You want to actually hit hard get a 15” they crush the lows and can still go fairly high on some models! An 8” is only good for the smallest of areas! 2 seater cars, corvettes, 911’s thing of that nature!
Horns!!! Sealed box in a Horn even crazier. 🤪 more control of woofer. If you figure out the holy grail. Simetrical loading? It will blow your mind. Took me 20 years to understand...
🤯
@RIP the 90's lol. 😄 🤣 they are mind blowing. Roughly 9db gain if done correctly vs other boxed. Large though. The creator does know his stuff.
Symmetrical loading? I've never heard of that. And now you got me googling stuff 😁
@@BudgetBassHead I'll give u a hint. Steve Deckert... the GOAT of enclosure builds in my opinion. (Your in my top 10) It loads the woofer in a different way than anything I've ever seen before. And is proven... if u reply I'll send u a explanation...took me 20 years to understand. And highly recommend you looking into further. I don't want to share with everyone it's not my design & it is kinda a secret sauce. However you do enjoy the same thing I enjoy....highly doubt you will find an explanation on Google. Personally been looking for years.
Explain
Everything good with you bro? What's the next video?
What phone app are you using for this? Thanks!
What RMS is the speaker and what amp RMS playing it 💯
Do you have the blueprints on how to build rear horn enclosure
@BudgetBassHead- Hope you are well?
All is well. Thanks for asking
Love me some budget bass head but ....the X 8 is not budget. ..that giant box is fun experiment...lol
😁
VERY impressive!
Thank you! Cheers!
What app is that
Compare this with your Infinite Baffle, do you like this one better?
Infinite Baffle.
Which Bass sweep app are you using??
You must have an awesome wife to put up all the sawdust and dB😂 . Cool build sir
I guess you can call me lucky.
@@BudgetBassHead 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 amen
Can you tell me what software you are using and where to get it?
He is probably using WinIsd
Those are incredible #’s very impressive. Where would be a good place to get info about horn enclosures? I currently have a 6th order in my theater so I have plenty of space and prefer to build my own boxes. I’m thinking of building a large box for two FI sp4 18’s or one for each. Any info would be appreciated thanks.
Checkout HornResp. It a free tool. It has very detailed documentation and an intuitive layout.
@@BudgetBassHead I also watched one of your videos with the 6 1/2. I’ve built a couple of T-line boxes using the “half of the driver formula” huge boxes make even mediocre subs sound better. What would be the difference between the two designs?
I have 18 inch Fi sp4s= SSA evils (when Fi actually built them for SSA in 2016, or 2017) they are Awesome= 66mm of linear 2 way X Max, and Over 90mm of peak to peak X Max! They excel in ported= 7 to 8cu. Ft. Net per 18, tuned @ 20 to 25Hz for home audio, with 1-8inch aeroport per 18, 4th order= 3 to 4cu. Ft. Net rear sealed rear ch., front ch 4.5 to 6cu, with 100 to 125 sq. In of port, tuned @ 42Hz to 70Hz, and 6th orders= 5 to 6cu. Ft. Net rear, tuned 23Hz to 25Hz, with 1-8inch round aeroport, per 18, front ch. 4 to 7cu. Ft. Net tuned @ 42Hz to 70Hz, with 120 to 150sq. In of port, to play up to 40 to 65Hz, tune front ch. higher if you want higher. Hope this helps?
@@Superficial_david Transmission line and (back loaded/tapped) horn design both use 1/4 wave theory to align the back wave from the speaker cone with the front wave. The biggest difference from T-line to Horn is that a horn has a mouth with area exceeding the area of the cone of the driver, as I understand it. They are LOOOUUUUUDDD lol
@@Superficial_david how can I learn more about this technique?
My friend competed for years with custom 8s six in a hatch straight up
Won many competitions
Held the record for awhile
Quick question, what year is your Impala? My brother has a 2015 and I don't think his back seat folds down like yours.
Tenth generation model (2014-2020) his seats should fold
@@BudgetBassHead yeah I found out yesterday that his seats fold down.. lol. He thought I asked if the center arm rest/cupholder just came down. Thanks for the reply.
It's nice👍
where has he been? its been 7 or 8 months now.
Thanks for asking. my new job is very demanding. I'll be back soon.
@BudgetBassHead word up man. That's good to hear.. I know some of us may have been worried lol
We build specific subs for these boxes, especially long term, because his disclaimer is accurate ; these horns give zero shits about your poor suspension
that looks more like a transmission line with that gradual of a taper
whats the box tuning ?
Windows up? I had a lottle better score with driver window halfway
But I bet if you put the sub on the top and built a cubic ft sealed chamber around it (4TH ORDER) it wouldn't bottom out at all.
A horn will do this. Very hard hitting. Try it with a 12 and fill up the whole trunk :D It's gonna rip that car apart
Do you have a Massive Audio XL82R emphasis on the R ?
No. I have the Toro Force 8 though.
If I send you one (XL82R) would you try it out?
Can we use horn loaded subs in indoor spaces, say inside a Hall, inside a home etc. ?
Yes
@@Brazzzzzle can you please suggest a design suitable for indoor use?
@@pristineaudio5642 that's a lot to ask. There are many designs on the Internet. Depends on the driver, the space, your output needs, etc I would suggest doing some research and figure out what you want to help figure out how to design it.
🔥
Yo can i get the dimensions to build in inches please
Nice
What enclosure program do you use?
Looks like Hornresp to me
@@Brazzzzzlebut how do you actually come up with box and port dimensions?

@@BudgetBassHead a bass reflex on the pipe, and tuning to the resonance frequency of the speaker, gives a very high but narrow efficiency, for example, a t-line will play 100 db 20-160 gz and a box with a pipe 35-40 gz
Ey didn't I say it would be about a 140?
A 139 is close enough to that
