    Hey, great video, loved your playing and the guitar, thanks for mentioning about the non wound strings getting caught inside, I use a pair of thin nose pliers to turn the end into a u-turn, like threading a needle, hope it works for you 🙂

    Awesome guitar! I have a green one also right now. I had to change the pickup switch placement it just felt too far back. If you ever do decide to get rid of those pickups....I would be interested! Awesome video as always!

    I think it would be really cool to see you go on the builder and spec out a Kiesel. Maybe even do an unboxing video of it 😎

    Hi Lucas,
    As a long time Carvin owner, it's interesting to hear a younger player's perspective. Carvin uses around 100Pf caps on their treble bleed. I changed mine to 47 Pf, and it helps the pickups stay more natural sounding when you turn down the volume. So you can have it at more of a paf level and then when you crank it up it's like engaging an overdrive. But yeah, they're very hot. I left them in my D.C. 127 because if I want that vibe, I have it. Love your channel! Cheers!

    I almost got one of these a couple years ago when I wanted a PRS and didn't think I could afford one. My wife got me a 10-top McCarty for our 25th Anniversary, so I didn't pull the string on one of these (I too love my PRS). I'm definitely enjoying listening to you play your Carvin. The guitar is a stunner (I love Red guitars). A buddy of mine who plays in our church band has multiple Carvin guitars and basses and they are fine, quality instruments. God bless and rock on Lucas!

    Nice guitar Lucas ! The things that amaze me with Carvin/Kiesel guitars is the quality of manufacturing. No hum/hiss due to the high quality of the components and finishing. The level of PRS's without the price tag. Plus you can choose between a zillion options: colour, pickups, neck, fingerboard, and lots of other appointments. Very underrated manufacturer... Enjoy !

    EXCELLENT VIDEO I SUBSCRIBED! The Carvin M22SD pickups are better than the C22. Every gutiar I own but one I've replaced the pickups with M22 Neck and M22SD Bridge. I have four Carvin gutiars. Three were excellent, and one sucked.

    • @greekfreak1980
      @greekfreak1980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The M22 SD was Carvin´s answer to the Duncan JB or similar "Hotrodded PAF´s" (think Dimarzio Tonezone or Schecter Pasadena Plus). This was what Jason Becker used in his "Bluie" guitar and even Frank Zappa had them in one of his Les Pauls.
      They recently released a Kiesel re-issue version of this pickup, with 12 pole pieces instead of the 22 that the old Carvin humbuckers had. It´s called the M12SD and they sell it even as an aftermarket pickup.

    That thing sounds good! Love how “big” it sounds.. but you always make the guitars you play sound good. Cracks me up how you can go from chuggy heavy metal to a twangy chicken pickin thing-like a guy beginning to talk with a rude New York accent and finishing in a southern gentlemanly one. Little shout at the devil.. then finishing with “hope to see you y’all at church next Sunday!” Lol maybe just my old ears.

    I have one of these that looks almost like yours. I got it I would say around 2005. I don't gig with it that much because I am pretty much a Strat guy but I do occasionally. My question is do you have trouble getting the thinner strings to pass through the hole when you are restringing it? They always get caught up and it sometimes takes forever to get the string to line up and pass through the hole. I don't know if it is just mine or they all do it.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't live without it. Very rarely a guitar will have a pickup that doesn't need it, but 95% of my guitars have that same 180pf treble bleed cap.

  • @dressedtosmellgood

    your bridge pickup is probably too high if its fuzzy and sputtery. or the input impedance of your amp needs adjustment

  • @lueysixty-six7300

    Cool, I never knew Carvin did a "PRS". It's got an incendiary sound. Sounds like muh'hoggin'nanny to me. You could check the pickup cavity to see if it's muh'hoggin'..and also how deep the maple cap is..

    • @LucasFowler

      My Dad loves them, I think it just comes down to personal preference and playing style. I hope you're doing well Johnny!

    • @greekfreak1980
      @greekfreak1980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want a low-output/vintage sounding PAF from Kiesel, get either the Berylliums or the Allan Holdsworth set.
      Berylliums are Alnico 2 PAF´s und the Holdsworth are non-vax potted Alnico 5 PAF´s.
      Their Lithiums were designed for more for modern rock/metal/ prog/djenty styles, they´re perfect if you going for some Steve Vai, Petrucci, Plini, Periphery type of sound, but they don´t do the classic PAF tone very well.
      And if you want something similar to a "hotrodded humbucker" set: get a M12 SD in the bridge with a Beryllium neck. That´s my favorite combo from Kiesel´s stock pickups, it´s pretty close to a Duncan JB/Jazz or Schecter Pasadena Plus combo.
      Also, you can send in your own aftermarket pickups to Kiesel, when they buid you a guitar and they will install them for you. It´s an extra option if I´m correct.

    Hey Lucas, what is your opinion on Fishman fluence pickups? Have you tried them?

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think maybe I tried them in a guitar I was repairing for a client, but only enough to check everything. I would have to spend some time with a set to give you a real opinion, but I *tend* not to like active pickups in guitars.

    • @DatMetalBoi75
      @DatMetalBoi75 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bought a PRS seduced by the online hype; think I'll stick with Teles. When I was growing up in Toronto all the big guitarists had white Teles with rosewood necks. That Carvin sounds pretty good, but I'm a single-coil dude.

    • @melvynobrien6193
      @melvynobrien6193 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I play I do a lot of staccato lines; everybody's playing legato these days, so I sound different; I'm not better, just different. Nobody's doing any staccato licks or riffs; why not? A Tele is perfect for playing staccato, on the bridge pickup, of course.
