Incredible camera pan. Simply amazing! The whole scene actually was ruined when it got to Garland and Rooney. Their part should have followed afterwards.
Betty Jaynes and Douglas McPhail (1914-1944) do a great rendition of this beautiful Rodgers&Hart classic. Babes In Arms on B'Way for most of 1937 with 400+ performances. A shame that most have degraded this song with their versions of swing, including Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin et al. I love this opera-like style. Such a rarity these days. Thanks for the post. BTW, Richard Rodgers my favorite 20th century composer..
Oh my goodness: WE NEED MORE BARITONES IN 2018. They have such a soul-satisfying depth. The only singer I know of today with that kind of voice is Wintry Phipps. He sang for Obama's prayer: Wintry Phipps sings I Believe at Washington Cathedral Obama's presidential Inauguration. NOW THAT'S baritone voice:-)
Douglas Mac Phail was a baritone MGM wanted to repleace Nelson Eddy .But sadly he killed himself in 1944 in a very young age her was very talented and this i one of the few movie he made. Also Little Nellie Kelli also withJudy and few more
Mickey's character's critique of the singing is so interesting to me, as I think of that as fairly standard movie singing style of that era, no? Jeanette Mcdonald and Nelson Eddy and the like?
Catch the last line by Mickey. “The audience will fall asleep if you sing it like that! “ That is why (besides her mega talent) that Judy sounds better. She could sing the telephone book.
I am uncomfortable with Micky's character deriding the duet. What is the point of producing a nice performance like that and then putting down while it is being sung?
I feel the opposite. For me, the song is too haunting, and moving. Mickey's crack takes a bit of the over-charged emotion out and helps me put my feet back on the ground !
Oh lord Judy sounds freaking amazing singing this, she should have been the one to do it.
Yes, a thousand times !
A million views for this special lady and her friends should be possible!!
Omg...Judy garland. The hairs are standing up on the back of my neck

The way they looked at each other in that scene gives you chills. M.r and j.g

Peggy Lee sang the song beautifully when she was with Benny Goodman.
This is wondrous! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for having this on TH-cam where I can enjoy childhood memories. 🥰
Omg I love how at the end when Mickey was like dude can you not sleep on my hand lol 😂 omg I backing up laughing lol!

If anybody could sing A Plus Tile and Grout Cleaning, it was Judy!
Great voice😐
back to the future...
The best!
Come one Mickey. The song is slow, it's only natural their going to sing slowly and calmly. I like how they sound. 😌
Judy sounds soooooo much better singing this song! The other girl's voice is to operatic!
The Lost Boyz Concert!
did Michael J Fox base time travelling McFly on Mickeys performance here?

His dissing the singing was a twist in the story, just part of the plot. The story was really about Mickey and Judy getting together.
@@davidhalldurham True, but sad in retrospect all the same.

Precisely! Rooney's nastiness should have followed this otherwise beautiful scene.
