The troubling feelings of déjà-vu have been mesmerisingly captured in both the lyrics and music of this song, a song I can never forget...
A narrative masterpiece. Time revolves around memory.❤
A classic frozen in time. They sure don't make songs like this anymore. A masterpiece for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this song is soo exquisite and wonderful.
and eternal........
Think "Where Or When" is the most beautiful song that was ever written!
I call this the 'reincarnation' song. No other popular songs has ever been written that I know of that deals as directly with the feeling of meeting someone new that you ostensibly have never met but find them to be oh so familiar.
Well said.
I heard it for the first time while seen the movie "Out on a Limb" with Shirley Mclaine. Since then, it is always with me..

When you're awake, the things you think
Come from the dreams you dream
Thought has wings
And lots of things
Are seldom what they seem
Sometimes you think you've lived before
All that you live today
Things you do
Come back to you
As though they knew the way
Oh, the tricks your mind can play!
It seems we stood and talked like this before
We looked at each other in the same way then
But I can't remember where or when
The clothes you're wearing are the clothes you wore
The smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But I can't remember where or when
Some things that happen for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before and loved before
But who knows where or when?
Thank you so much dude 🙏
Haunting
lovely-
IM DOING THIS FOR MY ENSEMBLE PIECE IN A CLASS AND ITS LIKE 11 YEAR OLDS AND THIS IS LIKE A GROWN MAN HAHAHAHA
The second best song by R & H, just behind I Didnt Know What Time It Was.
Definitive version no doubt initially under Richard Rodgers' direction, whose favourite song this was, and who new the right tempo if anyone did!
It seems we stood and talked like this before
We looked at each other in the same way then
But I can't remember where or when
The clothes you're wearing are the clothes you wore
The smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But I can't remember where or when
Some things that happened for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when?
Some things that happened for the first time
Seem to be happening again
(I can't remember, my darling, I can't remember when)
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when?
Thank you Lara for writing the words to such an eternal song. When I listen to the song, I feel such deep longlines and yet a smile appears on my lips from nowhere.
Love George Michael`s version of this
From alice doesnt live her anymore
Alice brought me here

A much too busy and overblown orchestral arrangement.. nearly buries the exquisite lyric.
Those are actually the original Broadway orchestrations from 1937. I think the problem you're referring to is that the orchestra is a bit too loud for the singers.
