One major thing your missing on how he caught the kicks, is where the thumb points. By pointing your thunb up, it makes the bones in your arm dig into the muscle in their leg, and hurts like a son of a bitch. That's how he's moving them. It is a pain compliance technique. The more you fight it, the more it hurts. Have someone try it on you, and you'll know exactly what I am talking about. Have them catch your kick, and then they point their thumb up while it's caught.
Wonderful news! Had so much fun with this one. Thanks for allowing use of the footage and for all the good you do in the martial arts world in general. Keep being awesome Sylvie!
Who's the guy that's like the golden guy at the moment the Thai man he's amazing too he reminds me of this guy like you can tell he wanted this and wanted it from being a child they both look so comfy yet dangerous in the ring
I’m by no means a fighter or martial artist But I found his defence to be the most impressive aspect of his style Godlike manipulation Thanks for the insightful video!
Thai fighters are not only better honed in physical condition, but furthermore, they're studying a better art; Muay Thai is just better than other striking arts.
All the golden age greats were so cerebral aswell as super well conditioned, all of them had solid defense, fantastic balance, great hip dexterity etc. But some people specialise in certain areas and that is what makes it interesting.
'We got a fight lined up for you, some Asian guy, Yodkhunpon'. 'Yod a what? That's a mouthful, doesn't he have a nickname?' 'The Elbow Hunter of 100 Stitches' 'Right. Think I'll just pass tbh'.
Wonderful look at a great fighter that many have never heard of. Yokhunpon's ability to throw elbows from clinch positions viewed as sub-optimal (sometimes because you're at more risk of elbows hitting you) is impressive
Yodkunpon doesn't want to tko you off the bat. He wants too punish you and make you lose control of the fight all together. Dude dangerous when he throws those elbows.
this is easily becoming my favorite fighting breakdown channel on youtube. the amount of attention to details, explaining each technique followed by a demonstration, and just the amount of knowledge about each technique is just amazing !!! i also wish to buy his books soon. thank you for this amazing content !
Gotta say you really do a great job analyzing these attacks. I've trained my whole life an your videos always have something to offer. Great job I'm sure it's a lot of work. You really deserve some praise I know I'm nobody of importance but great job!
A clear and concise history and breakdown of technique, well done! Had not known of this fighter, and now going to study all of his fights thank you for bringing this enriching technique to my awareness.
He hasn't worked in a night bar for more than a year (COVID), he is solely dependent on private sessions. If anyone wants to train with him contact me, I see him everyday. :)
You put out high quality accurate commentation an interesting way! This is truly one of the best go to channels to a novice and or a person that's been in combat sports all there lives... Thanks for being there.
Yep legit it's probly the only martial art that can stand alone in an mma situation and not get totally ruined was invented to keep you alive in a war if you lose your weapons the place we went called it the 8 limb art 2 fists 2 feet 2 knees 2 elbows
Great video, I love your Muay Thai content. Not enough light gets shed on the fighter from Thailand and especially the golden age legends. Would love to see a video from you about Wangchannoi
The old style of muay thai also used head as a weapon, but it was eliminated to make it sports. The word many Western Muay thai students/websites said Muay thai is "Nawa-Avudh" and you transled it as "The Art of 8 Limbs". That's it. Actaully the word "Nawa-Avudh" does not means 8 weapons. It means 9 including the head. The words are from Pali, an old Indian language used a lot by Thai esp. in Buddhism (If you have any chances listen to a Thai monk chants, that's it. Most of what they chants are in Pali) In Pali Avudh means weapons. Now Nawa -- is not 8 but 9. In Pali 1 = Ake, ae-ka 2 = Toe, twi 3 = tri, trai 4 = Chatu, Chatta 5 = Benja, panja 6 = Cha 7 = Satta 8 =Atta 9 =Nawa 10 = Tos.
Really magnificent video. Ones of this channels best works. Which is saying something. Nuanced analysis of a wonderful fighter who is relatively unknown to many. Technique described in a thorough detailed way while still understandable to a layman. Marvelous work, you deserve all the success in the world for content with this level of quality.
Very nice video. Now I know better how to frame and push with both hands or one hand and keeps on be like water to give pressure and minimise opponent’s impacts and disturb their balance
Great minds tink a like! I & I! - first time hearing about this person. Beautiful and elegantly aggressively proficiently brutal! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 In 😍😍😍 love!
Yooo, I fell out of admiration for jkd since the school I was learning it from had no sparring, but this man just revived pak sao, bong sao, and that cross face framing. So sick to see it in boxing.
"of a 1000 stitches" sounds like the moniker of an anime villain. That hand/head control to open up one side in the clinch is very similar to Duran (another vicious infighter of course), interesting. Pulling down an opponents guard and throwing an elbow in the same motion is brilliant. Boy could he get those knees high and on many different angles aswell, great fighter
Ohhhh I really like his leg catch to lead elbow strike; one clean motion. His feint to switch feint to close the gap to punches was excellent too. He really is great at breaking the opponents rhythm.
This technique of twisting instead of pulling to load up knees is something that I've seen employed to great effect by MMA fighters such as Demetrious Johnson. I'd recommend watching his TKO victory over Henry Cejudo for further reference.

Thank you for this wonderful and beautiful study of Yodkhunpon. A very special fighter of the Golden Age. I've sent him the video, he loves it!
Wonderful news! Had so much fun with this one. Thanks for allowing use of the footage and for all the good you do in the martial arts world in general. Keep being awesome Sylvie!
Wish you did a video of him reacting to this video
Thank you for being a great visual help in understanding the techniques.
"A very special fighter of the Golden Age" he is going to elbow you when he learns you called him old
You amazing badass woman you.
Yodkhunpons ring iq was extraordinary. A true master of combat.

You know "Yodkhunpon" is means "Great Warlord"
@@jamekinro2850 what a fitting name lol
Imagine him absolutely battering you while screaming "WHAT'S MY NAME!?!?" 😂
If it were me I would be a complete chump and do nothing but go for takedowns.
I love elbow techniques. I feel like they're really underutilised in MMA
Especially amongst heavyweights
@@xavierthevoid hopefully Jon Jones changes this
@@xavierthevoid Good thing Ciryl Gane is a bit more kown now ! Never saw a heavyweight land a reverse upward elbow before him.
Seriously. And they’re one of the most devastating strikes out there.
@@KushyCouch Agreed. They don't even need too much power to them

Loving the Muay Thai breakdowns!
His style is so powerful… from any stance and angle he hits at full power
lol they all do, that's rather typical of CHAMPIONS in Thailand lol
The footwork explanation integrated with actual fight footage was the best muay thai footwork related content I've ever seen.
I love your studies of the lesser known combat masters throughout the last few decades. History will never forget these things, Thx to ppl like you👍
This is the greatest breakdown ever

Aw yeah! More Muay Thai stuff!!!!
Maybe one on Karuhat or Olay would be good!
God I love this channel. The breakdowns you provide on these guys is second to none.
Anyone in Thailand , reach out to train with him! The man works in a night bar to make money after Being such a decorated fighter.
He hasn't worked in a night bar for more than a year (COVID), he is solely dependent on private sessions. If anyone wants to train with him contact me, I see him everyday. :)
a shame..

Truly an artist, turned his opponents into red abstract
This was truly a thing of beauty. Thank you
I'd LOVE to see some more golden era Thai fighters like Karuhat or Wangchannoi!
My two favorites. :)
He keeps himself stacked on his hips brilliantly like a dancer, this is really one of the most beautiful styles I've seen
Thank you for this video.
You broke down one of the greats from our national sport
One of the scariest human beings to ever walk the face of the earth.
awesome video about yodkhunpon btw!!!!!!
Muay Thai has some legendary fighters just like any other combat sports
@Darren Harper you mean jiujitsu?
Dude was a master of reading body language. The man could hit at any angle inside or outside.
Holy...Muy Thai is on a whole nother level
Yep legit it's probly the only martial art that can stand alone in an mma situation and not get totally ruined was invented to keep you alive in a war if you lose your weapons the place we went called it the 8 limb art 2 fists 2 feet 2 knees 2 elbows
there's no more effective striking art on Earth, and their stand-up grappling is crazy too; everything they do just wrecks the body.
When you are forced to do moment-by-moment breakdown of a fighter, you know its the best breakdowns of one of the best fighters out there
Thank you for singing for the unsung heroes
I got had to make popcorn for this one 😮💨 this is the man, the myth, the legend
amazing video as usual would love to see more golden age of muay thai breakdowns
Nice breakdown. I love seeing these very sticky Thai fighters. Helps to add a new perspective on my own martial art practice.
Immediately subbed. What a fantastic video. Very well put together. Highlights, clips with Sylvie, and great explanation of what is going on. Awesome.
I love the technical break down.
THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING I LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!!
Awesome technical skills and also great balance to perform these various strikes.
Great video, I love your Muay Thai content. Not enough light gets shed on the fighter from Thailand and especially the golden age legends.
Would love to see a video from you about Wangchannoi
In lethwei he would've headbutted a lot of people
Kru Yod elbows is more scary than Dave Leduc Elbows
Why?

If you could do a breakdown of dany bill in the future that would be amazing, he is one of if not the greatest foreign thai fighter of all time
Thais have granite chins. Its insane. They take so much over the years and still dont even wobble

3:56 all that fainted and then finish with high kick was so beautiful.😮
The best way to box.
Elbowing... agreed
Guess who’s throwing elbows in sparring today boyssssss (with pads ofc)
Pass .... who ?
What’s the answer?
Go Johnny Go.
You know he's good when his nickname sounds like a cheesy van Damme movie title.
Wow. And to think this is basically what wing chung should look like if people actually sparred...
Yooo, I fell out of admiration for jkd since the school I was learning it from had no sparring, but this man just revived pak sao, bong sao, and that cross face framing. So sick to see it in boxing.

Nice! I love you breakdown video. I wanna see you break down how Lopez Jr managed to Crack lomachenkos matrix style!

I love Muay Thai it's the greatest
Man ,how did you figure out the 'disengagements' from these old videos?
NEXT [ Samkor roundhouse kick break down] 🙇
Do Saenchai brother, he’s crazy
That was beautiful. Thanks
wow, this a true art worthy of a master.
Wow! Just about time..
1:50 you'll have to slow the footage down or check it frame by frame to see, but Yodkhunpon actually throws a *flying* head kick here.
This technique of twisting instead of pulling to load up knees is something that I've seen employed to great effect by MMA fighters such as Demetrious Johnson. I'd recommend watching his TKO victory over Henry Cejudo for further reference.
Why would watch mma for striking when there's muay thai 😂
