Its nice watching someone who does good work! I like using fernco couplings over PVC fittings because they help reduce the vibration moving up the pipe from the motor.
i am using the same pump for sewer. Worked for 6-7 years then it stuck in the on position. I put after market switch on the end of the cord worked perfect. Great pumps
I have a Liberty 257 that I put in an outdoor sump pit (for an outdoor channel drain). It has been out there year round for 5 years, including in the winter when it freezes solid in the pit for 3-4 months. Leaves, grass clippings, dirt, etc. sometimes get into the pit and the pump is still going strong.
It almost looks like he's got a bilge pump in there for a battery backup but that looks a little crusty too but hopefully the homeowner will change that out but at least he's got 2 new pumps thanks to Steve Lav working again
Hey Steven, you should check out Hydromatic sump pumps or NexGen Pumps. There is a Hydromatic DA-1 at my house and at my grandmothers that are both 15 years old and one of them still running with the original diaphragm switch. The NexGen Pumps company got the products from the old Stevens Pumps company which I have one that even though it roars loud(I like to think of it as trying hard) it still runs good after 20 years. If you want to stay towards Zoeller, check out their M63 model, it uses a higher quality switch in it.
in this episode steve races the incoming tide to save the toad from the dungeony cellar. baby dog is missing . . . did she run off with the toad? will the fog ever lift? stay tuned.
Thanks for video, even my wife asks me if I got my plumberguy fix for the day, lol. I'll keep an eye on these liberty's. I have zoeller and no issues but there 3 years old now so may need to replace sooner or later.
Battery for the backup pump looked like hell. If he's constantly charging it with that conventional dumb charger, he's probably boiled all the electrolyte out of the poor thing.
@William I live in Illinois and have a Zoeller. Lived here 11 years and the thing is still working, but man is it corroded. No salt water here. Wanting to replace it so watching these videos.
Tsurumi pumps are excellent! For anyone not familiar, the VANCS or TM series work great for saltwater. (VANCS series is stainless steel and TM series is titanium)
Have any of the plumbers in here ever worked with Tramco pumps? It's one of the other pump design, where the pump and switch are both above water, and from what I hear very expensive. But they have a 10 year warranty on their pumps and claim that with proper maintenance 30-40 years of service is possible.
Not sure of your distance from shop to job. My take, go grab a hunk of kaowool and some 6" 30 gauge tin. Best result...now I'll watch the rest of vid to see how you made out
All those wires, clamps, buckets, etc.....who in the H*** installed that train wreck? No wonder Steve stays busy unflucking these butcher jobs by other hacks
Rocket Rider Absolutely, if its drawing power then its ringing the cash register regardless if it works or not....same with your a/c ....run,run,run...but not cooling = big $$$$$$$
With a plastic check valve you will be back in a year need a in line flo bass check valve and y didn't you put pvc unions? why pipe band aid you will have to saw again next time you change it . And use zip tie for cord on pipe not tape looks better and will not fall in to sump if wet. Hope it help been installing pumps for over 15 years and not just sumps . Easy to say when your just watching. Sorry

That is the only pump I install now Liberty. Unless owner says differently or buys there own pump. Good job Steve
The 4 seasons of Lavimoniere: boiler/furnace, air conditioner, sump pump, faucet/toilet.
And the all year long drain-a-palooza.

Steven what model do you recommend for basement sewage pumping? Will liberty 257 or 287 be enough to pump up 10 ft and out about 20?

Mark Powell that's exactly what it looks like to me. A Rule bilge pump. Have the same one on one of my boats.
I lol'd at the end when he's looking at that battery pump mess and gives us his patented "I mean really?".

sea water rises below the floor and goes into those feed pipes to the sump then pumped out cool! I thought I saw a barnacle on that pump!
Both of those pumps are gonna be kicking on and off without that block under the other pump

Oh the humanity
nice one
which liberty model did you use? thank you

Steve Lav, I enjoy all your videos. You do awesome work. Keep up the great work.
Great job Steve !
Upgraded the PC saws all looks like Mama. Next Level.😂
great job mama !
Liberty pumps, have you used these before? Good change-out.Steven Lav.
Toad-ally entertaining
Nice swap out of pumps Steve. The Liberty pumps look well made. Hopefully they hold up better than the Zoellers!
Steve, you mentioned about the tide coming in, is water in sump holes salt water? I assume house on beach, then could see why pump so corroded.
@William I live in Illinois and have a Zoeller. Lived here 11 years and the thing is still working, but man is it corroded. No salt water here. Wanting to replace it so watching these videos.
Looks like theres salt water coming in with the ground water. An all stainless pump will help from Gould’s or Tsurumi pumps
Tsurumi pumps are excellent! For anyone not familiar, the VANCS or TM series work great for saltwater. (VANCS series is stainless steel and TM series is titanium)
Where is that water coming from or what is it for? We don't have basements or anything like that where I live so I'm not familiar with this setup.
Sal C It's just water from around the foundation from rain or melted snow.
Caribbean In The House makes sense, thanks!
Sal C This house in the video is near the Ocean . Ground water will fill the basement without a pump too.
Why would there be a small marine boat sump pump in a wash basin inside that drain pit? Emergency 12v?
Nice work Steve, I got Liberty pumps in my sumps, I think that battery is due for a change...LOL
Hey Steve What is that red Pan ?
What did they use before they had pvc pipe for a sump pump?
Sometimes they used galvanized steel or metal pipe
Great job Steve. Hope you didn’t FROGET anything. LOL 😂

Definitely needs a better backup system.
I wish this guy would say how old these pumps were at the time they quit.
Might have been good to replace part of the other pipe to get rid of all those other clamps too
ohhh she looks a little crusty :) She looks a little crusty. Awesome
It looks like Liberty has my business now. Pease
To many 90 bends and four feet, between the pump and the check valve?
Vince Hughes what’s your point it’s a Sump it’s gonna pump the water out no matter where the check valve is
Interesting sump pit set up--not sure what that thing in the red box is for. Glad to see you're using the LIberty pumps.
i still prefer zoeller...i dunno...
12 volt bilge pumps.
For boats bilge...Backup to backup.

Baby dog and Mister Toad.
Woo woo
Why do you wear gloves? JUST KIDDING! I do real estate maintenance and and love your videos!!!
Havent seen a toad in my area in years....
What is the name of that sawall
Sawzall
Porter cable
where is the 3/16 hole?
How’s he know that frog was female....”Get going Momma...”???
When you find a pump that won't shut off and it's not moving any water doesn't your electricity bill skyrocket?
Rocket Rider Absolutely, if its drawing power then its ringing the cash register regardless if it works or not....same with your a/c ....run,run,run...but not cooling = big $$$$$$$

Rash of bad sump pumps here lately ... Good vid tho ...
I would never trust those sleeve repairs. No reason this couldn't have been done with a proper coupling or union.
Yeah Steve mama must be a bad batch oh sump pumps.
Who Else Likes His Acsent?
Do all your houses sit on that mutch water
yay liberty is way better
Crusty!
Bingo first today
Not very good work at all
