Nice video! This applies to any hobby. G.A.S. (Gear acquisition syndrome) is real. Folks tend to go overboard or worry about their equipment more than actually playing or enjoying their hobby.
    Thanks Seth!

good video, but there is an issue when recommending old PS2 games: the input delay that newer LCD panels apply when playing. Yes you can reduce it with Game Mode on your TV but it is never completely lag-free as a CRT would. Thing is, the delay adjustment setting was only present on SuperNOVA 2, DDR X and DDR X2. DDRMAX2 doesnt have a delay adjustment setting as far as I remember, so it can be a bit difficult to play, the person will miss a lot of notes for no reason because the TV is displaying the image a bit later than the game is expecting to. Other thing is emulating old games do introduce some lag as well and it is a recurring issue with many music and rhythm games when emulated, so in this case it would be a better option to use Stepmania with the DDR songs and with a skin that resembles the old games.

That's a good point -- Stepmania is much easier to sync for modern setups. I bought a CRT television to play old DDR and IIDX games in my room, so if anyone has one lying around (or can find one easily on Craigslist), it can be a nice option for playing the old PS2 games. I never got the hang of fixing the sync for emulated DDR games.

DDRMAX2 owner here, it has some timing adjustements and I've putted them on +2, the game now works well and I got A scores lately 😊
