My band director picked out “The Stars and Stripes Forever” specifically for me to play the piccolo part this year, and the 3rd octave B flat as been killing me. It’s the only high note in the song that I can’t hit cleanly every time, so thanks for the exercise! It’s already helped me out.
I just got a piccolo and I play flute so this was actually pretty easy for me thank you for the video I really enjoyed it the high notes are not to difficult for me but I’m not great at them
I came here being able to play everything on my wood pic (all notes) but for my marching pick i can’t get past the highest A. Really hope this helps, I have a dislike for my marching piccolo because it doesn’t sound that good, do believe it’s because of the lip plate since I love my wood pic that doesn’t have a lip, I’ve tried this exercise my self and it help on my wood pic but still can get it on my marching one.
@@overachiever7684 i have a way that works for me, but it isn't super credible so far.. put it higher on your lip and twist your headjoint out or in (depending on which works for you) and squeeze your abs,, it isn't the best way but it works
So, my understanding is that there's no way to avoid the piccolo from making the squeaky sound when making it the highest note? Speaking professionally. Isn't there a way from preventing it from damaging your ears? I think if you're professional, you wouldn't be facing that risk.

I've just started playing my picc again. Great watching you go through this a few months ahead of me. I hate g# :(
Thank you!!! I could never get B natural to come out for the life of me but this exercise helped a ton.
I had trouble starting with a high notes without other notes this helped me a lot thank you
AHHH got 10 days to get up to top Bb …so far got to G# reliably … wish me luck 😂 so hard haha 😭
Yaa.this picalo is like our f sharp small size flute. Much noisy.annoying for our neighbours. 😆
Awesome. Iam little bit shocked that u have never played indian bamboo flute. Try it some time. So soothing to the soul. 👍👌👌
Damn the high F’s and G’s make me want to do gainers off the Empire State Building
Preach 🙏
I can get all my notes below third octave f. But I'm still stuck on that f. I can play up to it from a E though

i can't hit above an f. part of it is because my picc is cheap but it's also just so hard
Did you ever figure it out? I can't hit the third octive G and I have to for a song. So do you know how to fix it?

@@lovemochaxx oh my goodness! i’ve been struggling trying to get third octave a’s out for an audition piece and this has actually helped me a lot!
I can hit high A but not high Ab??? Does anyone know why that may be??? I got my piccolo yesterday and have a parade tomorrow so I need HELP.
If you’re still having trouble, add your second and third finger on your right hand while playing Ab
i need help with g 😭
@@gia8336 samee lmao
Same. The A and B-flat are easy, but the A-flat just doesn't want to speak. Adding the right hand fingers helps, but it's out of tune.
thank you😍
Amazing
I can't hit anything above a D :'( could be my piccolo though
Playing 2nd violin in orchestra, thank you piccolos, were going deaf here xd
I just hit about a third higher, thanks.

The way to prevent it damaging your ears is earprotecion. It is at such a height that it is going to hurt your ears otherwise

Are you Australian?
