The sirens work by a chopper or a speaker siren the chopper sirens chop the air shot it out of vents and makes sound waves the speaker siren works by a speaker
There are 2 different types of sirens 🚨 There are electric sirens And Non-electric Sirens. The Non-Electric Sirens are powered by a Fan. The fan spins so fast that it chops up the air which causes a high Pitched noise what we call a Siren noise. But There are some sirens that are electric ⚡️ The electric sirens are sirens that do not have a fan. They are programmed to make a high pitched siren noise. Solenoids :) Sometimes sirens can make a hi-lo noise or a pulse Noise. To change the tone of the siren, Solenoids block the air which blocks the noise. Hi-lo is when one solenoid blocks the air and then the next. Pulse is when 2 Solenoids go at the same time. 🌪🚨 We all know some ways the sirens work, But most sirens are turned on by you’re city, Some state test their sirens at different times. Most sirens are tested by the city 🌃 And those are a few things I know about Tornado sirens 🚨 #Sirens #Solenoids
They're technically all electric since their motors are usually powered by electricity (with a few exceptions). The sirens that don't use fans/rotors use speakers.

When I was in elementary school, they had a tornado siren situated right next to our school. Every Tuesday it would go off at 10 am. It was a little scary at first, but eventually you got used to it. There was another one situated on the other side of town right next to another elementary school, too.
Preset tone patterns are usually put into the sirens during testing, usually in the mornings at 10am at most municipalities. Here are the sound-tone patterns for the test siren activity: The first test firing is the plateau-tone pattern, usually for several minutes. (That is the glissando up, then a steady tone, and then a glissando down to end the sound.) Then there is a break for about 1 or 2 minutes, and the test-firing happens again in test 2. The second test firing is the multiple-sine-wave-tone pattern (the several waves of glissandos up and down), also for several minutes. Tornado siren emplacements are either this option - fixed emplacements (where the sound structure on top does not move when the siren is fired), or rotating emplacements - where the top part of the siren, like a Leslie pre-amp fan on a Hammond Organ, rotates when the siren activates. The siren stops rotating when the sound stops. The tops of those sirens are usually in a hyperbolic shape for maximum output of the siren din for maximum reach so that scores of residents/people can hear the sirens and take action if needed.

There are different kinds of sirens the two kinds I know electrical and electro-mechanical. The electrical sirens use speaker drivers The electro-mechanical ones uses a stator, motor and a chopper so the chopper is connected to the stator a shaft is used to connect the motor to the chopper. The chopper and stator have rectangular ports that act as doors for air to go throungh thats how they make there always has to be a way for air to get to the chopper by a intake or a blower most electro-mechanical sirens have horns (not like air horns). There are also rotational sirens and omnidirenctional sirens, most rotational sirens have a rotator box and some don't. Omnidirectional sriens can send their sound in all directions without spinning.
“They want us to take them seriously” If I hear a tornadoe siren going the fuck off and it’s not Wednesday and it’s sunny and beautiful out, best believe I am NOT 🤣”taking cover” or “taking it seriously”
We need sirens for infectious disease warnings, and that should be actived using a switch that the public can use, for if they find themselves with an infectious disease spreading from person to person.
they never answered how they work, haha.
They press a button on a computer.
Bryce Gipple yeah well how are they so loud?
The sirens work by a chopper or a speaker siren the chopper sirens chop the air shot it out of vents and makes sound waves the speaker siren works by a speaker
I also forgot the more faster the chopper spins the more louder and high pitch the siren is
thecoolpaw 24 yeah I love the 2001’s and tbolts I also like the modulator and aca’s
The Thunderbolt 1000T on top of the tower either
A.) is set on chopper level 7
B.) has an air leak
C.) has a reverse-wired blower
Greenfield1003 It was replaced with a Vortex in 2013
C. Has a reverse-wired blower
Fat2T22 in order to tell if the blower is reverse wired you'd have to hear the wind down. The brief cutoff is what determines that
Did i just accidently comment on a Siren-fanclub? whoops.
I remember hearing the answer for the Thunderbolt but I'm drawing a blink on what it is
I sure wish that we had more sirens in Canada. We usually only use them as fire sirens in British Columbia.
so you close to usa

Right nearby. I live in a border city.

Say what? I didn't get that comment.
Here in Alberta, we just get phone/tv emergency notifications. No sirens whatsoever.
Does Canada get very many tornadoes?

It's probably a noon siren (yes those are real sirens).
The siren on the pole replaced the one on the tower. The siren on the tower still works very well but they shut it off after upgrading the system
I think there might also be a Erick siren but that might be somewhere else.
