  • FLS Projects Vietnam shipped a fishing trawler weighing 575 metric tons from Halong Bay, Vietnam to its designated fishing territory in Canada! FLS not only chartered a suitable heavy lift vessel in accordance with the client’s requirements but also was heavily involved in all arrangements prior and during loading: Special steel cradles accommodating the unique hull shape were fabricated according to the design of our in-house engineer. Also, FLS’ stevedoring team positioned the heavy cradles in the exact location on the vessel’s deck prior to loading. In addition, experienced marine divers were hired to ensure the correct placement of the slings under the hull in the water for a safe belly lift operation.

Very interesting video, but the music was perhaps a bit overdramatic…

I didn't know before that BBC are equipped with stability pontoons because I supposed that they are general cargo, not heavy lift vessels. Seems like I was wrong)))

Well hopefully who ever is using it in Canada, is not using it like the those who crew the tourist boats in Halong Bay

Curious as to why they did not just sail the trawler to its destination?

Too risky, too small, and also may devalue the vessel by adding unnecessary mileage to the hull

      time and cost.
the small trawler travels at best 15 knots the bigger cargo ship at 23 knots, saves a couple of weeks.
they would also have to pay for a transfer crew wages, food and fuel for the time to drive her.
a flat fee most likely half those costs for the ship.

Could have used the ship that sinks it’s self then refloats under its cargo. Same ship was used to bring the Cole home after it was attacked.

Too expensive to use a semi-submersible for this transport.

Those ships are to big and unnecessary to lift something of this tiny size

it doesn't have enough fuel and supply to do that kind of sea crossing
