The fishing industry has long been a significant driver of Canada's economy, contributing billions of dollars in revenue each year. At the forefront of this industry is the lobster sector, generating an estimated worth of over $484 million. A large portion of which comes from exporting lobsters worldwide. This succulent crustacean is not only an integral part of Canadian cuisine but has also gained an international reputation, becoming a highly sought-after commodity. Its rich taste and tender texture have made it one of the most valuable catches in Canada, contributing billions of dollars to the economy each year. In 2021 alone, Canada exported 95.5 million kilograms of lobsters, worth over $2 billion CAD, with the United States being the largest market, importing nearly 80% of all exported lobsters. But it's not just the US - countries like China, Japan, and South Korea are also major fans, importing significant quantities of lobsters every year.
As we explore the fascinating world of Canadian lobster fishing, one question looms large: just how do the Canadian fish farmers reel in enough lobsters to generate a whopping $484 million in revenue each year?

The audio was correct… but much of the video showed decidedly NOT Canadian lobsters. In particular, the circular pens shown early in the video are fish pens, not lobster pens.

The information wasn’t terrible but the video was so bad there was about one actual clip of a eastern Canada lobster boat and more clips of Aussie lobsters I buy lobsters in eastern Canada for a living if your gunna make a 9 minute video of CANADIAN lobsters you should a least find a few clips of CANADIAN lobster boats

i maybe wrong but some of the featured lobster here appear to be those of the spiny lobster type as opposed to the cold water large claws maine lobster types. is this something done to deceive?

Those are Florida spiny lobsters. It's definitely deceptive because there are no spiny lobsters in Canadian waters.

4:51 if a lobster dies, within the hour they will start to decompose, that's why it's so important to keep them alive

6:45 here's one fer yea to check out.
If they find a berried/seedy/egg barring lobster at a processing plant now, they must kill the lobster instead of returning back to the ocean.
      Yea, that's a dfo/gvt inforced rule

These types of videos are ruining TH-cam documentary-style vids. Lazy and hastily made with little regard of matching the video with the audio.

In this video these lobsters look like maine lobster types but it doesn't surprise me because of the temperature and maybe what they feed on and I remember years ago that when the 1st settlers came to America lobsters were piled high on the shore and many people though they were garbage but as time went on Americans started to see that it was good and people started to like them and if you look at the price now they command a good price as there is a demand for them and they are not cheap like most seafood like shrimp scallops and you can't find mahimahi and swordfish or marlin and soft shell crabs and I love my seafood and some fish like skate is so expensive on restaurant menu's it's a joke as it's very cheap like 2.00 for the portion and they charge 20.00 but consumers don't know but i do just like monkfish which is known as poor man's lobster as you would not know the difference

Nothing about lobster farming, yet you show rhe lobster tanks on the thumbnail. And showing Florida spiny lobsters as if they came from Canadian waters is deceptive and false.
So, with those two things going on, your channel has no credibility with me.

When caught wild, you will be digesting all they ate... they are bottom feeders and eat what is laying on the bottom of the sea bed.... leftovers!
Farming insures that we eat what they eat, and the meat is to a higher standard for our consumption.
