    😅 you think that's hard water? I get more mineral deposit than that just running it three times.

    I have never used a water distiller in myrtle beach,even though I started using them in 1989.After one use, the bottom, looked like that, That is how terrible the water is here. The water smells like mold, often. I have used it 5 days now ,so I will use your vinegar solution.

    So for the first clean after a month I have boiled it for 30 minutes with citric acid supplied with the distiller which didn't get rid of the crust deposits on the bottom. I then did what you say here and soaked it for 15 minutes with neat vinegar and then added the same amount of cold water and left it overnight. The crust has mostly dissolved but there is still some hard deposits which are also rainbow coloured (whatever that is?) that don't want to come off :-( So now I have covered the bottom again with vinegar and filled it up to the top with hot water hoping to also get the flame like dark marks at the top (like your photo at the beginning of this video) off too. How long should I soak it for like this and/or should the water be boiling? Would using a non-scratch scourer be safe to try scrubbing a bit as I have already tried the paper towels and cloths. Hoping to hear from you. Thank you.

      Never scrub it, just use 1/4 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup water for the bottom, 6 hours should be fine. The key is never boil the water bone dry, I use a timer such that there is always 1/2" of water left at the bottom, then I pour that mineralized water away. I use vinegar after every time that I use it. I pour a small amount on the bottom and I spray the sides. After a few hours, I rinse it thoroughly and wipe it with a paper towel. I can’t imagine waiting a week or a month to clean it.

    I can see that a little vinegar can go a long way in your home.

    Hi, do the air stills need a vinegar clean before use when they are brand new? Cheers.

    • @PoolarityChannel
      @PoolarityChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Brand new it doesn't need to be cleaned with vinegar, but after maybe 1 week or 2 weeks you should clean it.

    I watched a few cleaning reviews, and would like to ask, what do people mean by "A month's worth of dirt" how is that possible? after using mine 2 times the dirt gets cooked when there is no more water left and the water gets a smoked taste..
    I use a clean dishwasher yellow sponge with green scrubber on the back every time after distilling for 2 times only to remove the dirt, then on the 3rd boil i will use vinegar

    • @PoolarityChannel
      @PoolarityChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Likely because you boil the water all the way through until nearly bone dry. What I do is I have a timer and leave nearly 1/2" of water such that the sediments are not burned at all. See my Tips Video - th-cam.com/video/DCmespGh_AQ/w-d-xo.html

    Leave the vinegar in overnight not 15 mins. Overfill the distiller just slightly so the gunk toxins dont get cooked or just turn it off before the end.

      Ahhh, this is really good advice. So it stops based on timer, not when it starts overheating from no more water? I ran mine with vinegar and water for a cycle and my water has tasted off since. I changed the charcoal filter and cycled it 3 times now and still tastes funky. Have you had any experiences like this? I don’t imagine vinegar could’ve permanently ruined stainless steel

    How do you clean the top part of the water distiller? I noticed a weird taste with my water, and the top part of my water distiller smells the same :S

    • @Anonneemuss

      Same here. Cleaning the pot is simple - I see anything gathering, I pull out the steel scrubbie and scrub it away. Wipe with soap and water, etc.
      How these people get so much build up that they can't get it off? No idea.
      Cleaning the TOP??? Can't find anything on that. What I've been doing though is funneling vinegar into it until it starts to come out the spout and then stop and let it sit for a few hours. Then do a plain water run to clear it out. That /seems/ to work but I'd like to get opinions on that.

      @@Anonneemuss thats similar to what i do. Mine came with a funnel for this and you have to tilt it till water comes out. I use a tiny bit of citric acid instead of vinegar and then a bit of water and it cleans up well :)

    • @Leahv103
      @Leahv103 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Anonneemuss it builds up to where I can’t get it off because we have really hard water where I live, LOTS of minerals in our water. So if I go more than a few weeks without cleaning it’s really hard to get off

      ⭐ Do a full clean using 3 cps plain white vinegar + 3 cps hot water (I add xtra hot microwaved water to speed up). Run for apx 45 minutes. Empty, rinse well and wipe down container with clean towel. Allow lid to air dry before reattaching base. Frequency: As needed, depending on usage frequency.
      ⭐ Avoid sediments burning into pot. Time the run-cycle of your unit to know your unit's distillation duration. Then turn off 20-30 min before.
