In this video we go over the top 10 BEST MMORPGs you can play right now in my humble opinion, and discuss why they're good and what they offer to new or returning players.
These 10 MMOs are some of the best available to play right now, and this list includes a mix of MMORPGs that are free to play, buy to play and subscription based. Please keep in mind that this list of the top 10 MMO games is in no particular order and is all based on my own opinion - these aren't necessarily the most popular MMORPG titles of 2023, and you may not agree with my list, but if you don't that's okay!

@@PainxSorrow yeah its almost like before AAA studios devoured each other and there was some actual competition we were getting a steady release of new and interesting games.
Now that i think about it before that happened we were getting original titles too and not just remakes of the same shit we played 10 years ago...
I would absolutely love to see a huge massive open world, mmorpg, lotr style game with giant community, factions and lore where the players make the story and events. Like an alternative fantasy reality.

Ya except Lotr is trash imo. Give me Forgotten Realms which I think would allow everyone to grab a bit of something they like and be ajust a better overall basis for a fantasy altered reality existence for both lovers of good AND evil lore. (Sorry I hated the Hobbit and pretty much all the lore BUT I recognize 95% of everyone else loves it.)

Nowadays Albion online is easyer than it use to be, but it has a lot of things to do and you can make things alone and level up. It's the only game that makes me be afraid of where I'm going.
its play to play. Without premium you need to play about 16 hrs per day. Bot to mention premium cost is ridiculous and still increasing. Only veterans can get premium at this point

I wish this video went into more detail about what sets each MMO apart in terms of how skills are acquired, how your character is built and uniqueness of characters other than cosmetic as opposed to how open the world is, how often it gets updated etc.

BEST BET IS BLACK DESERT AND MORTALS ONLINE2
WoW is traditional rock paper, scissors dungeon crawl (Tank, Healer, Dps) while there's 18+ years of lore, you have to sort of discover it yourself. You're not forced to do the story, and you can grind away and take your time. The characters and backstory of each race, is lovely, and finding out about said characters, is always fun. The classes are exciting and offer a playstyle for everyone. Looking for groups is made easier now. Beyond that, there' a reason its the biggest MMO still...it delivered on both leveling, dungeons and lore, sure, the graphics are mid, but you get passed that very easily, and its super mod heavy, which I personally love.
BDO - Is literally one of the most beautiful looking MMO's on the market, only rivaled by the unique combat of each class (and there's plenty of those). However, two huge drawbacks. It doesn't have the standard MMO rock paper scissors, and is more like a beat em up (think Diablo 3 in 3D) that might sound cool, but it wears thin, and there's really no hardcore lore. Its mindless hack and slash, albeit said hack and slash, looks absolutely beautiful.
Guild Wars 2 - As mentioned before, its a bit of mindless hack and slash, as no traditional roles are mentioned. For example; tanks aren't really needed in raids, beyond being a meat shield for certain attacks and enemies. Its a bit loosey goosey, and here the lore is easily forgotten.
FF14 - This is WoW's little brother, it does everything WoW does, except in cursive. From character creation to vanity clothing. Everything is thought of and handled. Quests that were annoying and or pointless in WoW, are fun and easier in this. The community is always kind, and the lore is extremely rich and pivotal...therein lies a certain caveat. In order to start unlocking dungeons...you have to follow the main story. Its the fastest way to level, and its also how you touch any of the expansion classes. I'm not a fan of this myself, as this is the only part where WoW beats it. I like knowing the dungeons are unlocked by my level, not my lore progression.
All that aside, FF14 delivers on every aspect...the characters, classes, story, and even mini games. It looks beautiful (better with mods) and you can find anything to get lost in. Its an MMO that makes you look good while questing and dungeon crawling, both via appearance character moves.
This is 10/10 explanation

@@Gamearkdotcom I have played all the Elder Scrolls single player games since the beginning and loved them all. But I was thoroughly disappointed when ESO first released. It was so unbalanced that I could not progress at all. Once I got to a certain point, my character was so ill-equipped and so under-leveled that I was simply slaughtered by any enemy I came across, so I had to quit. I complained to the devs, and they told me they were aware of the issue, but months later, the problem hadn't been fixed, so I deleted the game and never went back. It seems like so long ago, and I have always been reluctant to go back.
Looking for something to replace eso. I switched to pc, idk if can tranafer. It's also been a real long time, I loved pvp

GW2 f2p is a very incomplete experience if you don't have expansions

Gw2 without expansions gives u the entire core game for FREE. Sure your mounts and a bunch of stuff are Limited. But they're only limited because these stuff didn't exist before the expansions came.

EVE is a different vibe from every other MMO. I miss it.
ESO is definitely the Best option, but I wouldn't suggest it without a subscription, ur resources are limited without.
- The biggest downside is that it is So Big. It's very Easy to lose track of what to do or where to go.
At this point there's no need to make a "best MMO to play in 20xx" video. Every year you always find the same old mmos except for some ftp games that always become pay to win.

All you complaining about GW2 are ridiculous. The base game is completely free..mounts were not introduced until after the base/original game. Do you really think Anet is really going to provide a giant amount of content for free after already giving you the base game free? Get out of here..
WOW back in the day made you pay a monthly sub and purchase each new expansion which was like $50 each and I saw no one complaining or expecting it to be any different.

Exactly! And each expansion is a ONE-TIME purchase only and each expansion has already a lot of things to do. Buying gems with real money is optional since you can buy gems with in-game gold.
The gold to gems grind is kinda wild tho, let's be honest here xD Do really love GW2 tho, definitely top 3 for me personally

I play pso2 for pve/ customization, guild wars 2 for largescale pvp (wvw), new world for smallscale 1v1 duels, and bdo for strictly 1v1 action fighting game style (BA trial char)

I advise people to stay away from Albion, it really sucks to play atm, the world being entirely controlled by huge guilds you won’t have fun playing, you either join a big guild and become a pawn with progress given to you or being solo and playing the game on.10x difficulty even getting out of a city
Why are you spewing nonsense? Do you even play the same game of Albion Online as other people? Solo content is abundant, while maybe not easy... This is the only game I ever played that literally has content tailored towards SOLO players specifically. Like mists, corrupted dungeons, solo random dungeons? Don't spew nonsense to people.

I've been watching videos and reading lists upon lists and articles about most popular mmorpgs right now, and it's always the same ones, over and over but with also the same kind of people in the comments leaving bad takes on the game. At this point I just think it's all full of life frustrated haters and all they do is comment crap and over exagerate, while the ones who actually play the games are just playing and enjoying them.

Objectively, almost all of the games listed in this video have crippling problems. Pay to win, a ridiculous requirement for time investment, or just poorly made/not fun.
The reason you're seeing the same games suggested over and over again is because they're the only ones with a semblance of legitimacy. That being said.... if I'm going to play a game for more than 10 hours, it had better have a stamp on it saying more than "eh, this isn't BAD."

is the main issue; but not just pay to win. Gacha, or rather gambling based monetization that takes advantage of people's behaviors, is another issue and is even blocked in some countries.
Some of us aren't spewing hate just because. Some of us have played many MMORPG's over the years and are tired of the same old thing, get burned out, or get sick of the monetization type that ruins the game. It's hard to find a good quality MMO these days. FF14 is the only one still on top because of its quality of music and other systems in place. It has issues and the combat is a bit dull; and I'm sure there are other things that annoy players, but you will be hard pressed to find toxicity like you could easily find like in WoW or other such tripe. If you're new to MMORPG gaming, then there are many choices. Just choose a game that seems interest to you and try it out. Just understand that many MMO's have been around for a long time.
Phantasy star online 2 new genesis is SO underrated, yeah it has its problems and a lot of pso2 original fans (new genesis is a completely new game) don’t like it but I love it. The community is awsome and it has hands down the best character creation ever, it’s not P2W and while you can earn quick money and from spending money you can earn money quickly if you just explore the map and selling drops you get. The combat is EASILY my favorite in any mmo, it’s so fast and fun

@@WearyYT yeah give it a shot it’s slightly Japanese janky but it’s such a blast, there’s a TON of stuff and it’s really not as complicated as it seems are first. Give it a shot it’s a very fun game and it’s got a main story that you play but many people will help you if you ask them in the lobby. The community is very great and nontoxic

On the GW2 review you said pvp was normalized and you can just jump right in. It's partially right. Except there are skills you don't have access to that lvl'd vets will have and your builds will just not stand up to theirs. Unless they have changed things.

Outside of the narrative and characters the gameplay is pretty boring yeah. Very dull and after finishing the narrative for first time, it was very hard for me to get motivated to play it again after a little break. Gameplay is dull.

At least with WOW i can just explore the giant world with minimal loading screens, but thats stretching it. Very few mmos do things right. Im looking at archage 2 and Throne and Liberty, hopefully they become my cup of tea

No PTR Testing Bullshit, No Addons doing all the work, Content is released when Finished.
Developers who actively play their own game, and actually listens to the players.
I hate this albion game man. There's nothing u can do. There's no story at all it's pure battle, it's not even a role play.
Lost Ark is a joke right now with all the bots running around. It feels like a dead game and it's not fun.
Ffxiv is currently the best mmo currently active hands down. No competition.
Gw2 is noice but you have to pay a lot to even play most of the fun content. Complete lie about it being free lol. What you get for free ain't what you're probably going to get the game for. Still a good game but just remember you have to pay for each expansion, living world, etc.

people calling GW2 "free to play" are just lying. the game is not free, it was released as a pay to play and it still is. The base game is free just like wow is free till level 20. it's just a way to try the game. Anyway it still costs WAAAAY less than any other mmo on the market.

You more or less repeated the bit about the cost of all the scrolls giving different information each time I think one diamond that you can buy for about $25 a text Simon said to go buy a perk five to $15. Lost Ark open world? lol. Linear garbage maps. Every dungeon has a daily/weekly 1 time lockout except chaos which technically you run twice a day then get zipo for drops after. You need 75 alts to farm mats daily to even think about keeping up. That or spend hundreds of dollars not to have to. Nothing but a glorified mobile game.
The MMO genre is in a sad, pathetic state. Ashes of Creation is the last glimmer of hope.

I've wondered for a while now why no one makes an MMORPG (or even just decent Singleplayer RPG) with adventurers guild, in the kind of Isekai anime style where you pickup random quests there and can rank up over time doing that. It feels like such low hanging fruit when Isekai is pretty popular.

you forgot one big thing about Guild Wars 2... most of the Base classes are not that great and there are dozens of subclasses you can pick later on that allow you to basically switch up your entire build. A perfect example is the Archer/Ranger whatever its called turning into one of the better healers, the Druid. But to get that, you have to get to max level as a Druid and buy an expansion to boot.. so, while it is initially Free to Play, it isn't really because without putting money into it, you probably won't be able to get that cool class you actually want to play.
ESO has a "soft" lock"? try Hard lock... if someone or something starts swinging at you and you don't block or dodge but get any amount of distance away, you will be hit no matter what.. even through walls. that is not a soft lock.. that is a hard lock, sorry to disappoint you
a Bonus to the game is that you do not require the DLC to get the DLC armor sets. A lot of the Issue with many games is that PvP is dominated by new DLC gear because it typically is better, and if you dont have the DLC you will just suck. In ESO, anyone who has a DLC can craft you the Armor from that DLC and Trade it to you, so even without the DLCs you can get the cool new Armors and their Looks!
I think by "soft lock" in ESO they're referring to the fact that the player "locks on" to a given enemy, who is then the target of single-target abilities (e.g. you aren't going to miss with your ranged shots if you're locked on to a target), but it's not a "hard lock" because you can change it just by turning towards another enemy, who becomes your new target.
Dude. GW2 release date 08/2012, ESO was on 04/2014. It’s been ~10 years. TEN YEARS. No one plays those games anymore, they were great many years back but it’s over move on lol

Grind simulators in different worlds with monetization methods to keep players subscribed or rolling. People said that to me abt Bdo and it made a massive comeback. People said ffxiv was good but the game is absolute garbage w the slowest combat n easiest + shittiest pvp I’ve played. People said WoW was bad and I spent 4 years of my time on there after hearing that. Shadowlands was my intro and now my all time fav mmo. Doesn’t matter what the hive mind of the gaming society thinks (especially these twitchies), what do you think? If you don’t like it then fuk off and play something else idk why you gotta hate on this dude for fw ESO or GW2. Both games being top notch w a ton of content and good PvP/PvE.

Oh no it doesn’t in BDO I have to do the PVP quest to enable PVP. I can stop draining levels at whatever level it is 5560 whatever and I never have to participate in PVP.

@@nickverschoore4351 They are not expacs , they are basically living world seasons we used to get for free, so no new elite specs. They never have released any new classes or races. They are nerfing gear like they promised they never would. They are making stuff us veterans players worked hard to unlock or master so easy for new players to get that it is sad. The so called balance patches has been a joke recently and I could go on and on.

OK, elder scrolls doesn’t pack require a cookout doesn’t require but if you’re going to play it with any kind of serious as you need a subscription, you need die ESO flops primarily for access to the crafting bag because otherwise crime think it’s just not an option cramping bad gives you unlimited crafting storage, but it also the death of scription gives you access that all the time that except for most recent expansion so if you want to play all of the continents in elder scrolls, buying a subscription even bang for for several years and it’s going to be cheaper than buying every expansion and DLC that come out.

No MMOs are worth playing in 2023. Until they start making MMOs in Unreal Engine 5 everything just looks and feels OLD.
- BDO is close, but the Huge Japanese influence (English subtitles), bullet spongy enemies, Horrendous RNG crafting, and endless Bloat makes it a pretty hard pass.
This for people who consider playing BDO: this game has a lot of content and potential.
1. It not as pay to win as people think
2. You never run out of thing to do
3. If you are smart, you could be richest guy in the game just by messing with the in-game market
4. It could be very chill. Don't try to follow up with PVP content. Play in your own pace and you eventually get there.
5. Dungeon are now available in BDO. which a bonus for player who want to play with friend. It not as much as group content as other mmorpg like wwc and lost ark things like that. But it does have group content. Like Grind spot for group, Dungeon, World boss, Sailing, Node war, and scroll bossed.
6. Before playing BDO I got manipulated from the youtuber that reviewing the game as a very bad game but when i try it myself and understand it. Everything just got better.
7. You can literally AFK for 9-12 hour a day and still make money with those AFK activities. even though it not as much as active playing. But it a very nice bonus which add up over time for people that don't have a lot of time.
8. Learn the mechanic of the game. You could make 300-500million/day just by playing for 1hour a day if you got everything set up. Which something i didn't try when bdo was first came out and i got so bored of the game due to grinding. But come back in 2022, i try to learn the life skill and mechanic of the game. I found the game really fun and very easy. Everyday i play for 2 hour and make 700 to 800million each day. i did this while watching movie.
9. There is a reason why BDO is not DEAD After 8 years of released. It nowhere near dead.
10. If you have a potato laptop or pc. Download GeForce Now and play it through cloud gaming platform. No lag or delay
11. About 70% of the time you be playing on your own due to story quest, Node setup, Lifes skilling, Grinding, Enhancing, Running Around in your horses. But i make friend in the game and we are way find a way to play around with each other when we both available which are very fun. Even though it not as efficient as grinding by myself. But I love to boost and help my friend even I'm not a pro or anything near that.
12. Not everything is about Gear progression. In bdo you can also work on breeding and training horses for better tier horses. leveling up life skill, Cooking, gathering, Sailing to the ocean, Fishing. Grind for Treasure like Infinite HP and MP pot. also, Treasure map and compass (which help you go out to the ocean or desert). You can also work on your Lightstone and Crystal setup which give your big advantage PVE and PVP buff (this doesn't require RNG or enhancing). All of this could lead you to make better profit. Profit = Gear = progression = Free
Almost every mmorpg in the current market right now are hard pay to win. So, give bdo a try. Everything people could think of about how bdo are pay to win are people who try super hard to compete with top 100 pvp player and don't want to spend any money. Everything that you need in from cash shop are giving out to you for free every 3-4 month from event and quest. Like pet, outfit, horses gear, utility buff package.
I'm a free to player myself. I'm currently 650gs, 1dream horses, 4 tier 4 pet, and just got 1 of the infinite pot few day ago. This took me like around 58 day. Which are a big progression with a very chill pace of my own. Alot of people just being greedy with the rng and get tilted after they fail. BDO are so much easier than before so give it a try. It like the least pay to win game in the market right now. Dont listen to people that prevent you from trying. Dont hurt to try

lost ark is definitely gear oriented u cant do anything or run any raid if u dont have over gear and its not new player friendly not to mention u see 100's of bots farming gold and barely any player now. even when u have the gear score if u dont have gem or card set or title, gate keeper wont even let you join their group for raid.
Yeah the game sucks right now. Dont recommend playing it until they change things.
Content is to hard for new/unexperienced players but the content keeps getting harder and harder which leads an extreme amount of gatekeeping.
New World might be worth playing in a couple more years of development. Mortal 2 might be worth playing with a couple of years of development IF they keep the current monetization system...which they won't...so it's not even worth considering. Lost Ark is dead. Black Desert Online is not a good game to play because it is P2W. That's a huge problem, especially considering the PvP focus.

Albion start as pve but turns into pvp. Pve goes from T1-T4 on rss then you have to go into pvp areas to farm higher rss, the world map is what 90% pvp it takes 12million in silver to do things instead of buying with real money. void

Lost ark is a terrible game that’s way overly convoluted. Open login chest to receive 3 currencies which can be traded in for another currency which allows you to purchase another currency which then can be traded for another currency which then gives you some up grade materials for honing. Yeah cool game

There are definitely a few that offer this - Albion Online comes to mind here but there are others too
Depends on what you are looking for I guess. 1 on 1 battle grounds sounds more like dueling in PVE focused game with a PVP elements to it. There are many mmorpgs that allow dueling, so you can literally have 1 on 1 pvp with anyone willing to duel. If you want a PVP focused MMO, you probably are not looking for something that drives PVP more towards battle grounds and/or war zones. You probably should look into open world PVP games. Maybe not the best example here, but DayZ combines elements is of open world mmo play with elements of shooters. DayZ is PVP anywhere. It is a PVP focused game, but does have PVE/survival elements. You are always at risk from other players, it's full loot PVP, no leveling system, no dungeons, and no war zones. It's just explore, loot gear, and player skill combat (like any 1st or 3rd person shooter), but in an open world environment. You do have to have Steam and you do have to buy the game, but after that it is free to play (no pay store or pay to win mechanic). The official servers are probably not the best place to be as the majority of the DayZ community uses the DZSA Launcher and plays on modded servers, which is appropriate since DayZ started out as a mod to ARMA 2 and later became a stand alone game. I don't know any titles to speak of, but have heard there are fantasy based games that use the DayZ model of open world, full loot pvp. I would suggest that is what you are probably looking for. Unfortunately the ones I've seen that come close are pay-shop/pay-to-win gear stat based rather than player ability/skill with a keyboard and mouse.
You said 8 classes in GW2. There is definitely 9. 3 per weight class.
