ehh awesome to meet you brother 🤙🏽 how did you and the crew get on that day? Vis was shocking for us, but still managed a feed of crays and a big moki.
Puka generally dont shake their heads when hooked, they just pull hard! on another note Matai bay is open again I've heard so we will have to plan a puka trip before I go!
Have been meaning to ask you about that! Well about both the puka and matai. Awesome to hear. Been waiting so long to return there. Next good weather forecast let's hit it! Maybe extend your leave date till after spring 😂
Yooo I just got my first fishing kayak the other day, ordered my vhf and I’m ready to go, and can’t wait to transition from land based to kayak based. Yewwww
Greg Potter aka "The Great Shark Wrangler".....well done mate you are a lot braver and thoughtful than me...I'm such a bloody ninny when it comes to taking the hook out of a sharks gob.
Haha certainly playing with fire here. Probably wouldn't attempt retrieving hooks from sharks any larger than the biggest here. Fortunately they were giant circle hooks, so not too hard to remove. Not the ideal situation at all though. Would have much preferred them to be puka 😂
Thanks mate! I usually troll rapala cd-07 lures. I think the one in this video is a strike pro magic minnow. Kahawai don't tend to be too fussy in my experience.
Oh and the dive sock / croc combo was unintentional 😂 just forgot to take the Crocs off before getting in the yak so left em on. And yup, dive socks underneath!
Great work releasing those sharks Greg! I suspect many people would just cut the hook off. I try to get a firm hold on them behind the head so I know where the teeth are. It's nice to know they don't seem to bite if given the chance.
Cheers Paul! Yeah you can probably tell I don't deal with them often 😂 I think as long as the teeth are facing up and off your legs it seems alright. Problem is that they love to twist and turn. Think I'll be seeing plenty more of these in the next few months
You are a tremendous yak fisherman, I'm just surprised you have so many fingers:)
haha thanks mate! To be fair, I'm surprised too 😂
Churr G, nice to meet u at the waihau shop over Easter, love the vids bro!

Bloody Nice to see another name that Kayak fishes in Crocs 🤣
Haha they're the bees knees alright!
Choice trip bro. Bloody sharks and hooks 😅
Haha this is why I don't bait fish often!
lol i've wrestled with those sharks so many times can be a pain sometimes although not so bad when fishing is slow.
Yeah it definitely got frustrating for me since it wasn't the target species! All part of it I guess
@@gpfishingadventures7834 not to mention they were biting ur sinkers off too
Great job mate.
Came across your channel just 2 days back and I really like what you do bro.
32 more videos to watch😁
Thank you mate! Really appreciate that. Enjoy the ride 😎

Your keen bringing the sharks aboard
Haha easiest way to de-hook. Probably playing with fire though in all honesty.
Awesome video mate . What lures are you trolling for the kahawai?

Damn I really want to get out that way. The crocs with what I presume are dive socks is actually a pretty good idea.
It's such an epic area. Highly recommend eh. Big drive but really worth it. That whole coastline out to the east cape is full of monsters.
