- Spring peepers are to the amphibian world what American robins are to the bird world. As their name implies, they begin emitting their familiar sleigh-bell-like chorus right around the beginning of spring.
Found in wooded areas and grassy lowlands near ponds and swamps in the central and eastern parts of Canada and the United States, these tiny, well-camouflaged amphibians are rarely seen. But the mid-March crescendo of nighttime whistles from amorous males is for many a sign that winter is over.
One of the loveliest sounds in nature
I could fall asleep listening to this
So nice to hear in the middle of winter!!
Yes! It eases the winter blues for a bit...
This is perfect! I have been homesick for Massachusetts for 18 years, and this is so comforting. Thank you!
Thank you for inspiring comments. Nature has all the music we need, doesn't it?
Otherworldly, I rank their music up there with lake ice expansion sounds on a subzero night. Thanks for the extended play version.
I miss my parents' home :'( sounded like this every night
I love this sound, it reminds me of the town I grew up in and the frogs that would peep so loud to signify the spring.
sounds like massachusetts at night on a warm day.
I guess some like not seeing the peepers if they are trying to fall asleep, but I'd be happier to watch the little guys!
best sound I can remember
I live on the countryside of WV we hardly ever get em anymore so I sit here and listen to this.
One thing I truly miss living in the City is hearing the Peepers, so sitting in my Home Office, as I look after our Watkins Products Business, and listening to this on TH-cam! Thanks for having it here! ;)
I live between the country and NYC my whole life and now I live somewhere different still in NYC tho and I hear these every night. Way more than I did upsate or down south.
Nice
Only one more chilly month to go and then - Bring on the Peepers!
Ours are HERE! Come on, Spring!

Hoping for them soon as well in NH
