something cool I noticed about the sword is that the runes carved into the blade near the hilt are specifically in opposite positions on each side, so that when the user activates them the opposing forces will cause the blade to spin. it's a neat concept for practical usage of magic. there's also the description of the straight sword version of this weapon which explains the rust on the sword is a conduit for the magic used to move it, but the executioner version is clearly a home-made type deal because the only rusted metal on it is the wires that are wrapped around it. the bell bearing hunter literally made a bootleg version of a magic sword using scraps of magical material
Not rust, it's copper. Eochaid's sith lords had the ability to use their innate magic powers (hence why these weapons scale off of Arcane) to sort of force their will onto objects made of or partially made of copper which is exactly what this red glow is, the user's will manifested in the form of an arcane spell, which allowed them to control said objects from a distance. Judging by the fact that the Marais Sword's blade can glow red in Elemer's hands, as well as Elemer's grab attack is lifting you up in midair with arcane magic, I assume that it can also work on objects that aren't made of copper (since as you mentioned the Marais family are unrelated to Eochaid and Elemer just covered the sword in pieces of the barbed copper wiring that his armor was wrapped in, and the player character doesn't have to wear Elemer's armor to be affected by the grab attack) but to a lesser extent, and considering that the glow persists during the Dancing Blade attacks, during which he is not touching the sword at all, it seems as though he can not only manifest his will in copper objects but also channel it to other metal objects in close proximity through the copper. Overall I really wish we get more stuff related to Eochaid in the DLC, would love to be able to use more sith lord powers myself.

@@sunlitbugNo. He already said many times he won't. On the next run, he'll use PvE runes to upgrade his equipment and use only the PvP runes to level up. Which means NO PVP RUNES can be used to upgrade his equipment and NO PVE RUNES can be used to level up. This weapon’s ash of war is extremely good when paired with Millicent’s Prosthesis and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, since it boosts your AR, it means that you’ll do more damage with ANY weapon. It can also be used to boost spells/ incantations and St. Trina’s Torch too
A fun setup with this weapon is to use the Albinauric Staff in the off hand, and setup a bunch of the single Glintblade spells - three is a good number. If you can land the drill before the blades fire off, their damage includes the multi-hit buff. This lets you aim the spells at other players and switch targets to catch another with the drill. Tricky setup, super satisfying to land.

Wasn't expecting that at all but I guess more people thought it would be interesting to watch, I'm glad it received a video of it's own. Love the content, Chase. Had an idea for a build on your next PvP run, the Tiny Dancer. You must use the Blue Dancer charm and build around it (no more than 15 equip load). - Level through PvP only (PvE for items and upgrades is okay and if the PvP grind becomes too tedious selling Rune Arcs is okay too) - Stats may be allocated however you wish. - You must get the Blue Dancer Charm ASAP and then never take it off. - No need to rush Taunter's Tongue, but once you have it, you must always keep it on. - No summons. I'd be interested how you'd adapt to a low poise, light rolling build. It's different than what you usually play.
Hey Chase, love the videos. They've gotten me back into ER now that I'm done with AC6! I've been using some Great Stars + Prayerful Strike, and i saw a build someone had posted that maximized health and resistance, then used Prayerful to just constantly go for trades with Ritual Sword/Shield talismans. I'd love to see what that build did in your hands!
Thanks for the invasions! On the next strenght-arcane build I'd like to see the marais with some kind of starter you can combo into, like sleep buildup on the ripple crescent halbert or something followed by the marais ash of war. Would be awesome!

I would love to see the urumi showcased. It's charged heavy combos into an r1. Also it's crouch attack is surprisingly quick and great for rollcatching
I saw a build back in the day that would use Marais to build up the buff and follow up with a dragon claw or dragon bite. It would do massive damage and had decent mid range. Personally my favorite builds have become dexterity/faith for lightning builds with the cragblade. I never see enough cragblade builds for my tastes lol
Worth noting about the magic boost from the flask tear. The sword has some very weak magic scaling, so it’s probably not worthwhile and survival is more important
