Ambassador Freeman is one of best informed and wisest US diplomats and his insights are worthy to be heard by a wider audience. Notably, despite his exceptional resume and career, he is never asked to provide commentary on the corporate media. I believe his political exile was triggered by his position opposing 2003 Iraqi war.
He needs to be a consultant and mentor to Tulsi Gabbard as DNI, who may or may not get Republican-controlled Senate confirmation. Can she really rein in clean house at the CIA and NSA and DIA and all 18 disparate agencies in the intelligence community which were consolidated in Indiana after September 11th, 2001 (an inside job). At one point, Dennis Blair was offered DNI but he didn’t last. The Navy has its own huge intelligence function. Admiral Joseph Prueher was the last competent PACOM Pacific Commander of the Seventh Fleet which moved its HQ from San Diego Coronado Island to Hawaii Pearl Harbor. Now Kurt Campbell has been recently promoted (Victoria Nuland who took her toys and left the State Department for a nominal position at Columbia University in New York like Hillary Clinton) to be second at State under Antony Blinken to run the coming war on China (see John Pilger’s film). Will Marco Rubio be confirmed and keep Kurt Campbell who also failed to move 8,000 Marines from Okinawa to Guam so 2,000 ended up in Darwin, Australia?
A war crimes tribunal on Iraq and Afghanistan needs to be held. American Nuremberg by Rebecca Gordon. The Brits held an Iraq Commission which interrogated many witnesses, including Tony Blair aka Bush’s poodle.
This brilliant man, Chas Freeman, is such a treasure of information. In 2009, his nomination as Chairman of the National Intelligence Council was torpedoed by the Israel Lobby here is America.
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 Respect, prayers and love to Chas Freeman for supporting peace, sanity and values of humanity in the world. I hope & wish those causing troubles will listen to him....I will definitely follow you, Sir ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
I mean, yeah, but the same-old/same-old...hosts really should read up on their guests and ask specific questions on an advanced level instead of lazily always wasting time having the guests go over the same basic 101 Intro type material.
A conversation I recently had with a work colleague showed me how dificult it was for him to see backing the west with so much of what is brought up him puts him on the side of evil.
"The trouble with the travelling abroad seeking monsters to slay is that they will follow you home" Chas Freeman, Retired former US Ambassador and Diplomat.
This is so sad. The lack of smart diplomacy can cause so many deaths.I wish American presidents would learn when to but out of trying to manage other countries affairs. We have so many domestic problems to attend to.
Excellent exposition-Unfortunately they are little listened to voices-My old and crazy Europe has started an enormous rearmament plan-France almost 500 billion euros-Ditto Germany-Not to mention the former Warsaw Pact countries-And 40% of these weapons - are made in us - And all this despite the economic crisis that affects Germany. France. Italy - The populations of these three states are against the war But unfortunately they are divided - For the current governments of these three states one armed conflict with Russia is feasible - They want to close an account opened in 1917 - But they don't realize that the current Russia is not that of 1917 but is a nuclear power.
Gosh, I have a lot of time for Am. Freeman, but Europeans and Maori traded and shared skills. There were wars and the European population grew. There were atrocities, reprisals and Machiavellian tactics, not to mention misinterpretations of the so called Treaty of Waitangi, that wasn't even signed by several of the tribal leaders. The Maori tribes were also warring between themselves and some sided with the settlers to gain industrialized technology, guns and power. New Zealand was settled by Dalmation people, Brits, Irish, Prussians, French and many others, and the Maori people fought very hard against the British army, even developing trench warfare tactics that was later used in WW1. Most feared and respected by the Maori was the Prussian Von Temsky and his Bush Rangers who was also defeated and killed by the locals. Maori intermarried with Germans, Irish, Bohemians, anyone who did not side with the British. There were of course many who saw where the grass was greener and did side with the hegemon at the time. Back then the great powers were using proxies just like they do now. Today, Maori are not suppressed. Maori have different levels of society and some are very wealthy indeed, and keep their heritage going back to the 1840s and beyond. When you talk to a New Zealander, you might think you are talking to a European, but more likely you will be talking to someone who identifies as Maori. Mr Freeman, you cannot put Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the USA all into the same catagory. New Zealand is a lot more complicated than the simple concept of settler colonialism. New Zealand has always worked very hard to overcome differences, not like Jim Crow, or Apartheid South Africa, or Cromwell Ireland, and especially not like the illegal but USA endorsed thuggery that is going on in Israel. I take offence to NZ being compared to the USA or especially Israel. There are some elements with in Maoridom that hold resentment and Samoa also has felt the hand of New Zealand very harshly after WW1. Germans were actually respected and liked in Samoa. But very staunch British NZ at the time cracked down really hard on Samoan people. NZ acknowledges that it was a dark era in its history, but we don't hide from the past or try to lie to ourselves like in America. Kiwis travel and educate themselves and work together no matter what ethnic group. Most are colour blind and look for the character, not the skin colour. Come and live here for a while Chaz, and bring that Ray McGovern with you to get an education. Man lernt nie aus. Bleib gesund und komm doch mal besuchen.

A most intelligent and illuminating interview. What a wise and soft spoken statesman and insider.
Great interview. Chas explains everything brilliantly.

Great interview with one of the most salient, cogent voices in this fractious world. It deserves a title that is less misleading.

Thank you❤❤❤
It's a pitty that Australians do not know who Chas Freeman is. Once upon a time we probably would have.
A conversation I recently had with a work colleague showed me how dificult it was for him to see backing the west with so much of what is brought up him puts him on the side of evil.

Amazing analysis. Thank you. Diplomacy ❤
the Depression will make the wars escalate to ww3
Save the world! Stop these people!
Ranking the Israeli’s colony above North Korea 🇰🇵 is bizarre. To say, the very least the North Koreans having committed any genocide against anybody.
That was a great 💡 idea. Don't you think 🤔?

Jeffrey Sachs is great too.
Jeffrey is too self-absorbed.
