What is Central Coherence in Autism?

  • I hate the term “weak central coherence” and instead like to say “strong specific coherence”.
You see us autistic people can often miss certain information in our environment. This means we may not always notice some things allistics do. But we also notice things they don’t.
Often we miss the “bigger picture” or overall trend but are instead good at noticing the small details.
I don’t see this as a deficit more a difference: each way of processing the world has its advantages.

There are so many patterns that I love. I almost get a high out of them. For instance, patterns in nature (especially fungi gills), architectural patterns on buildings, certain cloud formations on so on. I get so much pleasure out of these patterns.

I love fashion and aesthetics, I always focus on those kind of things when I meet people, like the clothes someone's wearing or just a specific things about someone's physical appearance that might get my attention or that I find beautiful.

autistic people don't have a passion for aethethics , those things are govermented by DMN connectivity which is impraid in autism
