Sidney Poitier was one of the last surviving major stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema, and after the death of Kirk Douglas in 2020, was the oldest living and earliest surviving male Academy Award winner until his own death in 2022. He was my FAVORITE actor & I have watched everything he was in. Currently I cant think of anyone in Hollywood that can even come close to his talent & grace. Im truly sorry that we lost yet another great person.

His 1st big role was in No Way Out 1950 Not Black Board Jungle ..strange how he plays a Doctor in No Way Out..but some people they only remember him playing a Juvenile Delinquent as his 1st film ,the power of stereotypes

Many thanks for this a little late to the party better like they never he should have reprise his role as Virgil Tibbs, four in the heat of the night TV series, he would’ve knocked it out of the park as he always did with everything he was ever in. That would’ve been a real treat to see him every week instead of being rationed like in the movies, he did a wonderful job, and to serve with love which I saw when I was 13 years old in the movies impressed does it even begin to cover it he reprise his role again for TV in to Sir with love two and I have the DVDs and still enjoy them. We got robbed thank you again for this upload and log from all of us on Staten Island New York.

Mr. Poitier's autobiography THE MEASURE OF A MAN was full of surprises. It's delightful to realize that both he and his buddy Harry Belafonte were USA born! In the book, he didn't name woman he left first wife for, but it was Diahann Carroll. He bought her a huge apartment, then later locked her out!

Then told her that she had to get rid of her own handicapped child and drove her into the arms of a white man he was so foul. Only a REAL S.O.B does that. Because he treated a white woman well he gets all of these accolades.

Nobody is perfect, I wonder if they spoke of his 9-year affair with Diane Carroll and how he kicked her to the curb and didn't want her daughter to live with them and then a few years later he he married Joanna if you going to tell the story tell everything about this American Legend

Sad that Sidney and Harry Belafonte both felt marrying white women made them more relavant in Hollywood which was stated by Eartha Kitt of both men ...smh
I lost respect for both men after finding out about that but still apprecite their work ethics and craft

If he weren't a famous actor and just a regular guy would he still be disrespected!?He married young and people go thru it all the time. He fell out of love , found the love of his life, married her and remained married to her for the rest of their lives! Should he loose respect cuz of that ! Heck no !!! I'm happy for him and proud of the achievements he's made and the happiness he's given us thru the years ! I love Sydney Poitier ! MAY HE RIP ! ❤❤❤
