The Linc in Philly and Arrowhead in KC both opened before that.
Despite being Canada's largest metropolitan area, Toronto sadly has one of the worst stadiums in Canada. Toronto was chosen as a host city anyway simply due how populous it is. 7 million in the metro and 10 million in the Golden Horseshoe means only Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles are larger.
Co-host USA uses NFL stadiums for the 2026 World Cup! Arrowhead Stadium, the home stadium of Superbowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting one of the four quarterfinal matches!
