Mr Daz, l cannot agree with you more- Whitney Houston had the most powerful voice in music, hands down! This singer had not just that but so many outstanding qualities as a singer- one- of- a- kind tone, unmatched control and unparalled clarity of diction, not to mention her unmatched ability to transition between head, chest and miced voices. Of course, we have not mentioned her charisma and unmatched emotive ability. Thank you for your insightful analysis. I am a addictive Whitney fan, to the point where I tend to forget that there are other quality singers. However, the truth is, she is( not was) a cut above other vocalists, whether alive or dead. She is the greatest singer that ever lived, and that will ever live- het music and voice is truñy timeless!

This was what the '85 music awards?? I think music awards then was more reserved than it is nowadays. Even Michael Jackson's Grammy performance in '88 the audience felt reserved until the very end when ppl finally got up. It's just the world/society of the 1980's i suppose.

Wow, i'm honored you took my recommendation, and more importantly, glad you liked it. sorry i didn't see this sooner, reactions to him are sadly uncommon so i don't check back super often. but Freaktender is one of my favorites of his as well. "i didn't know how it would work" pretty much sums up his work. lol and yeah, what sets him apart from other mash up artists is all the little things. not just adding in bits of other songs, but like the Dave Chapelle thing you mentioned. even visually, like changing the color of the superfreak video to match the red of the pretender one near the end, even adding in a few "flashes of lightning" like the foo fighters video does. and as the other poster mentioned, this is one his lighter efforts in that regard. also, in any of his songs, if you ever hear people from one song, sounding like they are singing parts from the other song (like here at the end), that is usually DJ Cummerbund HIMSELF singing those parts and working his editorial magic to make it sound like the original singer. He uses that in a fair number of his songs to help bridge the gap between the two works. either way great reaction, keep up the great work!

Whitney was very celebrated in her time. She is one of the most awarded artists. This was an awards show, and one of the first times she was seen performing live. This was an audience of music artists and celebrities, so maybe they might not react in the same way, but everyone clearly saw her rare talent at the time.

The WILL YOU BE THERE part has some very beautiful elements🤩 (the amazing dancing! the different groups of people) and some cringeworthy elements 😄, like the choirs lipsynching and the end where Michael is being hugged by an angel. I love the symbolism of the angel and the fact the angel is a black woman very much. But it is a bit overdone, imo. I love the song, though!
