Without doubt, the 2026 World Cup matches will be played in world class stadiums. What worries me is that the sense of camaraderie between fans from all over the world, so emblematic of past events, will be difficult to engender when games will be played in cities as much as 4500 km and four time zones apart. It's going to be akin to holding the event in London and Baghdad at the same time. Btw, The beers will be Moose Head and Corona Extra and snacks will be poutine, Nanaimo bars, and chimichangas!

Luckily there are going to be FIFA events like fan fests and so on in several other cities that aren't hosting games: Washington DC, Chicago, Orlando, Denver, and Montreal for sure (and I think maybe Nashville but not 100% on that one)

Not just teams that didn't make it play friendlies lads. USA, Mexico and Canada won't need to qualify along with Argentina, They will all want football before the tournament and will all play friendlies. Teams that do go through qualifying will also play some friendlies they are a way of tweaking squads for the tournament itself.

Some of these venues have been consistently great soccer support while some have not. I decided to start keeping a list back in 2015 of soccer games in NFL stadiums (and went back 10 years before that, so I have a list of every soccer game played in every NFL stadium that was built from 2005 onward). So here's the list of the ones that are World Cup venues for 2026.
SoFi Stadium in LA - 71,189 average (1 game)
    AT&T Stadium in Arlington - 62,561 average (18 games)
MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford - 59,234 average (27 games)
Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara - 52,077 average (20 games)
    Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta - 49,346 average (106 games)

The teams have to qualify , may qualify months ahead of time, but the majority end up qualifying on the last days There are even wildcard playoff spaces for teams that dont qualify on their own conference , so they play a team from another and who wins qualifies . The world cup actually start 2 years prior the finals . So the world cup is ongoing right now , but is on its qualifying stages. This part is just what is called the finals.

Also teams don't release what players will be in there squad until the last chance incase players get injured so they will replace that player with one who plays the same position.
