Spektrum ESC Problem? OR Servo?

  • In this video I show what can happen when a servo causes issues with the system causing the ESC to lose voltage and even reset itself. If this happens to you, sorry but your servo is BAD!! You could try installing a Glitch Buster, but in this case you can see what the fix was :)

Thanks for the video I think this may be what I'm dealing with. Couldn't find any other video with this issue.

Second stock Spektrum servo to do this in my Notorious. Get about 5 good battery cycles out of them. Going to try the Ecoboost servo and also double check my endpoint limits hopefully.

I’m having an issue I can’t find anything on. When I go in reverse, my servo ties but when I go forward it goes back straight?

My crawler does this on full lock the steering and lights will cut out, I thought maybe it was something g to do with too high of voltage cause I'm running a 20v lion battery

Ahh I see so thats whats happening with mine, for some reason it would just disconnect me from the car and then 5 days later I took it out for a lil bit, ran out of battery and charged again but my handbrake stopped working, the servo wouldn’t pull the stick with the spring anymore 😪

Did you fit the handbreak to the Mohave, does it actually fit, if it does, where? In the car

I bought a arrma vendetta. Has same s651 7kg servo. Suddenly, after I installed an alloy steering system and put ceramic bearings, the servo would only turn left but not right. But if I kept turning left right left right. It would turn right. But only a little bit. Then I loosened up some of the connections like tierods and all. Anything that rotated with the servo. I thought I fixed the issue, but during a speedrun it literally had no steering and good thing I was able to brake fast enough before hitting the curb. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if it’s the receiver? I do t know if it’s the servo. But I took apart my car 3 times just to make sure I didn’t put anything wrong.

Thats a tough one. The only things that I can think of to troubleshoot is to buy another servo off JennysRC (cheapest route) and see if it still acts funky OR disconnect the servo from the linkage and try turning left and right. If it has no issue turning left and right without it being connected there could be something binding it up that you arent seeing. Make sure you set your endpoints correctly also. Try that and see what it does. The S651 servo usually doesnt make things reset like the 6s S652 servo does in the way my video shows. Sounds like you have a different issue 🤔

@@RUZTY1311 I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I actually took the servo and plugged it into my other car. A TT02 which has a 3ch Spektrum Receiver. It didn’t work. It don’t even try to move. I can see the receiver is responding to my steering inputs, but now the servo doesent even react. Then if I take the servo horn by hand and wind it back and forth. It feels absolutely perfect. I took apart the entire steering assembly-axles-tierods-shocks. Then re assembled. With the servo disconnected. I am able to turn the tires by hand with so much ease. I thought servos go when the gears eat teeth. ? Mine seems like it’s some sort of electrical issue. It’s so frustrating. Another thing if you know anything about the Spektrum dashboard - Bluetooth Module? Before the car had steering issues, the speed in MPH would be 1 MPH. Give or take compared to the GNSS speedometer GPS. Now, I was definitely well above or near 100MPH and it keeps saying 33mph. Or 35 mph. Lastly, I don’t know how to properly set the steering limits from the remote, I know I can mess with sub trim and stuff in the Bluetooth dashboard app, but it’s wonky. It’s just an all around shit show. I don’t want to keep taking drastic measures and taking everything apart. It has to all be some sort of simple solution to every issue I am currently having. Thanks again for your advice. It really is much appreciated.

@michaelrittenhouse2544 Yea sounds like something electrical is messed up with the servo. It could be the connector (I think its called JST?) that is somehow messed up and you cant see it. The one that plugs into the receiver. One of the pins might have come loose.
As far as the GPS issue, I dont have experience with that program im sorry.
In order to set endpoints, depending on which remote you have, it should be as simple as holding reverse on the trigger, holding to the right on the remote wheel, then turning it on. The remote should start blinking and then you use the AB toggle on the remote to set the endpoints.

Hi everyone - i just got a brand new WLTOYS 144010 and stupidly when wanting to start it I plugged in the white battery connector cable (used to charge battery) instead of the deans cable (red). Some cables started smoking right after and melted. The car starts, engine runs but steering does not work. Would appreciate any support here 🙏🏻

I just installed a 35kg servo on my trx4 from amazon and its making it die as well. My esc gets super hot and just shuts off. You think setting endpoints would fix the problem?
