Something that I really really liked about the Gen 2 Strawberry Shortcake characters was their love for curly hair. It made me, a girl with curly hair, feel so appreciated and it was so nice seeing my hair type so nicely made and associated with such cuteness.

Stawberry’s friend Orange blossom was the first cute, dainty and fairy-like Black character I saw in media, I even had a doll and several outfits with Orange Blossom and Strawberry Shortcake on them as a little girl. I was so disappointed when later designs whitewashed her but I’m glad to see that’s been fixed and she has her brown skin back in the newest iteration
Looking at the brief 1.5 reboot dolls here 12:25 we can see an Orange Blossom doll who had very dark skin. That impressed me greatly because for non-white characters most often dolls are produced with much lighter ambiguously brown shades where you have to guess the doll's intended race based on other features. But this Orange Blossom doll had no ambiguity at all, she had a very deep skin color & great hair. Wish we could've seen more Orange Blossom dolls like her.
I honestly love how diverse strawberry shortcake was, especially Cafe Ole and Almond Tea but also how a lot of the older generations have characters from specific places around the world. its insane that a show from the 2000s, 90s and even 80s was more diverse than some shows today.

Personal Tie to Strawberry- I hold Strawberry Shortcake close to me as a comfort show (I absolutely do still occasionally watch G2 episodes as an adult). I had to get a horrendous amount of rabies shots in kindergarten, but after every appointment for another shot I got a Strawberry Shortcake doll, as long as I didn’t fight the shots which I’d never do with Strawberry Shortcake on the line. She got me through one of the hardest points of my childhood.
I grew up alongside strawberry shortcake, she was my absolute favorite as a child. I also recall watching the gen 1 specials as a little girl as well, even though they were released before my time. I think gen 1 is my favorite, i love how sweet she looks.
I was a kid in the early 2000s, but I inherited a full collection of Strawberry Shortcake dolls from the 1980s from my great aunt. It included almost all of the dolls available at that time and their pets. I even had one of the original product catalogs! It’s such a treasured collection that we still have to this day-it may look a little worse for wear but boy were those dolls loved! ❤

personal related story: when i was a toddler (around the time g2 SS released) i received Strawberry and Orange Blossom dolls. But for some reason the Strawberry doll's rooted hair fell out shortly after being removed from its packaging. Like, ALL of it just fluttered down from her scalp like prickly red snow. This was a bummer for me, because i really liked how pretty her hair was and it was a brand new doll for goodness sake!! i had no idea why this happened, but one thing was for sure- she still SMELLED good. And, as a toddler, when you notice something *smells* good, you think perhaps it also *tastes* good. So, now that she was conveniently bald.....i licked her head. thinking it would taste like strawberries. Obviously, it tasted like vinyl. But this is a core memory of mine, because it was one of the first times I had put my monkey-brain problem solving skills to work. "Hm. Smell good. TASTE good?........nuh-uh. Will from now on know not to lick thing that smell like food but not LOOK like food." p.s- when i was little I shipped Lemon and Raspberry before I realized what shipping was. Gift wrapping and stickers with that date on it appeared in Toys R Us in 2000 with a design that was the precursor to 2003 design of Strawberry Shortcake.
Around 2003-2005 I was more steeped in Strawberry Shortcake, as in I had coloring books and maybe some figurines, wouldn’t be surprised if I even had a birthday party with a Strawberry Shortcake theme, but I’d never watched the series. Particularly I was into Angel Cake and Honey Pie (kind of surprising their personalities didn’t hold up, but maybe it was good little me never got to see them in action haha). I do love the original design of Strawberry herself (it’s as compelling as the version I grew up with), but the 2000’s era of her world has its unique element of peak nostalgia. I was open to the first reboot in the 2010’s but it felt more pared down for my taste. Anyway, I do appreciate that the 80’s version is getting more attention nowadays, so I can tangentially enjoy something I naturally wasn’t old enough to experience.

My mom also loved it, i think i watched it because of her, also she liked the cartoon more than my sister and me. I don't think i got any toys but maybe clothes and they were so cute too. Also im from Mexico and the traduction of the name is just too cute "Rosita Fresita" meaning something like "Pinky Little Strawberry"

The 2000’s series had a chokehold on me as a kid..I’m a boy but the series still appeals heavily to me simply because of the characters and amazing set design, the songs are all earworms and I know them all off by heart! My favorite episode was always “Moonlight Mysteries”, huge nostalgia..Scaredy Little Me and An Itty Bitty Scare are certified hood classics

ohh wow i loved strawberry shortcake (gen 2) as a kid!! my mom would make up stories about her and tell them to me at bedtime, and i printed out so many coloring pages (from the website i assume) to color on. i don't have any memories of watching the show or playing any games though, i'll have to ask my mom if she remembers that, haha. i loved all the animal companions so much
I really loved the Christmas DVD because the Cover smelled so incredibly good. I still remember how my Mom bought it for me and how often I smelled the DvD-Cover. Core Memory.

I grew up with Strawberry Shortcake Gen 2, im a 2k child and that cartoon was one of the cutest cartoons i've ever seen. My mom also loved it, i think i watched it because of her, also she liked the cartoon more than my sister and me. I don't think i got any toys but maybe clothes and they were so cute too. Also im from Mexico and the traduction of the name is just too cute "Rosita Fresita" meaning something like "Pinky Little Strawberry"

My only interactions with the franchise were hearing about it from my boomer and Gen X family members and receiving the Strawberry Shortcake lipbalm keychain at McDonald's. But now I'm intrigued! They're super cute and the theming is well executed. I think my favorite designs are from the not-Gen 2, but I do appreciate Gen 2 as well 😊
I'm not a huge fan of strawberry shortcake, but I was given a giant strawberry house, all the characters, clothing, and the evil blue dude doll set from the 80s. I should bring it out and treat it better.
